When is Sam and the womp - Bom Bom coming out? it's number 31 on the album chart at the moment and it was higher than that when i checked last night. I have the feeling it's gonna be big.

It's out on 19th August. The last time I checked the pre-orders, it was verging on Top 20, so it could have a strong chance of #1 (Rita Ora will be its main competition). This year's Riverside (Let's Go) maybe?

Riverside is such a classic now (in real life, most people on Buzzjack probably can't remember it!). It would be nice to have a counterpart for this year.

I like Rita Ora, but I wouldn't be disappointed at all if she missed out on #1 with her next song. It's so basic, and is just represents desperation to break the US market. It's not that bad, just I'd feel it's a bit undeserving personally, especially compared to her other two #1s, which are UK-sounding songs (well, they're produced by DJ Fresh and Chase & Status, so...).

There's only one 'Riverside' and that is performed by Agnes Obel.

As for Rita Ora breaking the US market, 'How We Do (Party)' is already in the US Billboard Hot 100 so she's broke the US enough to make an impact there.

How We Do didn't do as well as expected though in the US, it's pretty much done on iTunes although I don't know how airplay is going.

She is releasing a new single there called Radioactive (written by Sia) before the album, clearly the record company need a hit from her and are just trying to brush HWD under the carpet quickly, even though for a new artist from the UK it did pretty well!

To be honest, as annoying as MatthewFirth is, it's not exactly nice seeing everyone gang up against him.

I feel the same way, even if some of the posts are a bit unnecessary, he only joined in May and is only trying to fit in. Even I'm still doing the same, albeit not on the scale of MatthewFirth. I just post things that end up being wrong and I have to edit half my posts anyway

EDIT

Apologies for bringing up something which is in the past, I've just got back from the pub and I'm catching up!

She got stuck on iTunes forever and then radio play started to collapse, leading to it dying a death on iTunes. I'm guessing they pulled it from radio to, as you said, brush it under the carpet. I don't expect Radioactive to be big but I'll wait till I hear it I guess, it may have the advantage of not being shit! :o

Are 'Come Together' (#15), 'Caliban's Dream' (#20) and 'Abide With Me' (#38) new releases? I think it's too late in the week for any of them to go top 40 as I can't see them holding up too well next week. Loving seeing Underworld in the iTunes top 20 though - I assume 'Caliban's Dream' was the one played during the part with the giant Voldemort etc.? I really hope they can go top 40, they haven't been up there for a while! Born Slippy also at #68  I quite enjoyed Arctic Monkeys' version of 'Come Together' as well so I would like to see them get a top 40 hit out of it too. Emeli's song was really dull though.

'Next To Me' is back at #35 - was that even used at the ceremony? I don't remember if so... I remember 'Heaven' being played but that's not top 100 :(

'Galvanize' back at #62  And 'Bonkers' at #50 and #91 :D

Caliban's Dream was the one they played when they were lighting the cauldron.

Ah, I was barely awake by that point so I can't remember what that sounded like - I was thinking I couldn't remember hearing anything on the ceremony that was very 'Underworld-y' (apart from Born Slippy of course)! Just guessed it was from the giant Voldemort part because that had sleeping children in it so it's kind of dream related. Bit tenuous I know.

It was confirmed a few days ago that she will be releasing RIP as the next US single bit with a different rapper. Drake comes to mind straight away. :P

There was actually quite a lot of Underworld in the ceremony, the music to the Industrial Revolution part was also them with Evelyn Glennie (and I really like that piece of music, a shame it's album only due to being far too long) and they used many of their songs during the section when the athletes were being welcomed into the stadium.

The bit with the NHS/fictional literature was backed by Mike Oldfield.

The industrial revolution section was incredible but I couldn't pick out any actual songs during that section, only music was drum beats. To me if there was a good industrial/grime song during then it would have probably been really high.

Well that's rather surprising, that music didn't exactly strike me as being Underworld-like. I'm not really familiar with that much of their material though.

And I did kind of know that part was Mike Oldfield actually (just a mind blank), he did a bit of Tubular Bells just before it didn't he? Surprised that hasn't had much of an iTunes boost.

Emeli's song was really dull though.

It's a hymn and it was for a tribute - I don't know what you would have used for it

Wiley vs Calvin Harris reminds me of Professor Green vs Labrinth from last year. We need more chart battles like this in future.

I'm wondering if this really is a "chart battle". I'm seeing it more similar to DJ Fresh 'Louder' Vs Loick Essien (who?) 'How We Roll'. There was a clear winner there, and I'm almost certain that 'We'll Be Coming Back' will easily outsell 'Heatwave' by a massive margin. :D

You might be right with this one, but with DJ Fresh vs. Loick Essien, I didn't even expect How We Roll to get as high as #2. I never thought it was going to be as massive as it was, I expected more like a low top 10 debut and 3 weeks in the top 40 type of thing. So that was different, because we weren't even expecting the song to be in any sort of battle anyway.

Either way, we're getting a UK rapper at #1 (unless something really drastic happens ).

The thing with Drake though is, I can't ever imagine him rapping on the R.I.P beat, and I don't imagine a lot of his fans would like that. I could imagine maybe Jay-Z or Kanye West, since they've rapped on similar beats to that before on the Watch the Throne album (and also songs like Talk That Talk, E.T., etc.), and Rita Ora is on Jay-Z's label. Or Wiz Khalifa, since he's rapped on quite a few Stargate beats before.

I would like them to try R.I.P there. Even if it does less well in the charts, at least people would notice it when they hear it on the radio.

I'd be very surprised if Wiley missed number 1. Its beating Calvin Harris in pre-orders/fake versions and if Calvin's other three singles couldn't make it, I can't quite see this one changing that.

I've been won over by 'We'll Be Coming Back'. :D I actually think this is the strongest Calvin Harris single he's released since his 2009 material. It's tracks like 'Bounce' and 'Feel So Close' that made me think Calvin Harris had lost his touch when producing his own music. Even 'Let's Go' has grown on me a bit since its release, and I thought that was average at best at the time of its release.

I thought Heaven would've got a big boost from that, since it was so epic in that footage. :( On the topic of battles for #1, the Don't Go/Heaven week was amazing. That was like the most amazing top 2 ever.

I remember a few years ago listening to Chipmunk's album, and Wretch 32 and Emeli Sande were both featured on there, it's so bizarre, but amazing, to see them fighting for #1 years later, and with such brilliant songs aswell.

In other news, Arctic Monkeys up to #13 and Underworld up to #14. I'd like them to both go top 10 on iTunes, if only because some older songs need to be taken out from there.
