Posted July 26, 201212 yr It was always obvious there was going to be some songs made for the Olympics this year but I'm starting wonder why and how there are so many Olympics songs which are "official", is there a soundtrack to it full of British artists or are they all representing/sponsored by different things? So far I've seen "official" songs by Elbow (official BBC theme), Mark Ronson & Katy B (official Coca Cola sponsor song), Dizzee Rascal, Delphic and Muse, as well as something by Leona and Adele as they're duetting at the concert. Just how many actually are there?!
July 26, 201212 yr I think I can guess the reasons: Elbow (official BBC theme) Mark Ronson & Katy B (official Coca Cola sponsor song) Chemical Brothers (Velodome) Muse (Medal ceremony) Anyone guess any others?
July 26, 201212 yr There was the Torch Relay song by Dionne Bromfield & Tinchy Stryder - Spinnin' For 2012.
July 26, 201212 yr Alfie Boe and Kimberley Walsh duetted on a cover of Queen's "One Vision" for Our Greatest Team (so basically Team GB).
July 26, 201212 yr Author It would appear there are 5 official Olympics songs,Chemical Brothers, Delphic, Dizzee Rascal, Elton John & PNAU and Muse and the soundtrack will be available to buy from Saturday, containing music from the opening ceremony and the concert.
July 26, 201212 yr Dizzie Rascal's Scream is the offical song. Then why is "Survival" billed as the "official song of the 2012 Games"? Hot Chip are supposedly doing a theme for the table tennis similar to the Chemical Brothers' for the cycling.
July 26, 201212 yr I think you'll find that Heather Small's "Proud" is the Official London 2012 Olympics song. :P LEoxGJ79PMs
July 26, 201212 yr There was the Torch Relay song by Dionne Bromfield & Tinchy Stryder - Spinnin' For 2012. I think everyone decided to forget about that because I haven't heard anyone play it and I didn't hear it at all when it I saw the actual relay even though it's the official relay song. All I heard was Mark Ronson and Katy B (although that is a good thing )
July 27, 201212 yr Is the Leona & Adele duet actually true then? :o No, Leona herself even said that she hasn't done a duet with Adele and wasn't going to be involved in the olympics. Unless she's lying to us of course
July 27, 201212 yr Then why is "Survival" billed as the "official song of the 2012 Games"? Because rock is considered more mainstream than rap?
July 27, 201212 yr Because rock is considered more mainstream than rap? Almost on the verge of this not being funny any more. It is today still.¨ Obviously Muse's song is the official one. So says the cover. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/77/SurvivalMuse.jpg
July 27, 201212 yr Author Almost on the verge of this not being funny any more. It is today still.¨ Obviously Muse's song is the official one. So says the cover. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/77/SurvivalMuse.jpg They all say the same thing. http://all-noise.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/delphic-good-life-280x250.jpg
July 27, 201212 yr Blah, didn't know that. They're all official then. The song that is performed at the opening ceremony is usually the theme song. In Atlanta Celine Dion's The Power of the Dream, in Athens Björk's Oceania, in Barcelona Jose Carreras' and Sarah Brightman's Amigos Para Siempre. If none of these are performed then they're all equally (un)official.
July 27, 201212 yr Heather Small - Proud is a proper Official anthem, it gets everyone feeling patriotic and 'proud' of what London and the whole of GB has achieved. Im just excited now to see it all unfold. Apparently Adele is performing at the Closing Ceremony, Spice Girls are rumoured to follow her before (seemingly confirmed) Take That perform Rule The World while the flame is extinguished and passed on before The Who close the games.
July 27, 201212 yr I think we forgot the official mascot song, On A Rainbow. Tweenies eat ur heart out ~ ZIetV43enos
July 28, 201212 yr So "I Bet That You Look Good on the Dancefloor" is the official song for 2012 olympics then :P
