44. Emeli Sande - River

Why? :o

Rudimental doing astonishingly well, I never would have guessed it would still be as high as 5th after all these weeks. Very much deserved though.

Definitely one of the biggest surprise big hits of the year!

Why? :o

I heard it last night and again this morning during Olympics coverage.

Mariah #148 now

Madonna's TUTR is not even in top 1000 in POP chart (yet)

I didn't even know "Triumphant" was already out ! Hopefully she can get a decent peak, the song is GOOD !
Wow! I'm glad 'River' by Emeli Sande is doing so well! After I heard it during the round-up show last night as part of the Jessica Ennis montage it felt so powerful and I really hope it can keep climbing and secure a top 40 spot officially!

Ah i missed it was out last night! Glad its going so close to top 40, such a nice song. Wonder if it may even be made next single?

Seriously just give up.

Lighten up, please - you always negatively interpret any comment I make about rap!

My above comment was simply intended as an observation not a criticism - it is a fact that hip-hop/rap is not popular amongst the mainstream of British society - the average sort of middle-class Olympic/Corrie/X-Factor watching, album-buying, members of the public.

When a rap album sells as much (in the UK) as Adele/Abba, *then* I'll shut up... :P

How did Far East Movement get that high :o I can't see Lawson challenging the #1 this week, I think Wiley will hold on for a second week. Unless Rita Ora releases tomorrow.

But I don't see how you can make a comment about Dizzee being such a fanbase act when he's made two of the biggest crossover rap songs of the last 5 years/

Which two songs do you refer to?

If anything, it shows rap artists sell on a single basis. You can't tell me rappers only sell singles on fanbase knowing that for example Airplanes and Black & Yellow were big hits and yet the artists' respective albums pretty much flopped.

Off 2 Work and Dirtee Disco.

I expected 'You Got The Dirtee Love' to be one of them.

Off 2 Work only reached #44, so it's hardly a good example of a cross-over hit (leaving aside that it was 8 years ago, not 5).

While I'll grant you that DD made #1, it was in fact the lowest-selling #1 of 2010...
