Mine has randomly scrobbled around about 350 plays for Selena Gomez and the Scene :lol: - and just tried to add 200 scrobbles for Good For You - is Selena paying them?!

well if it's unfinished then why have they stopped us from using the old version already? :angry:

 

I know, it would have made more sense to get the new design finished before changing it over.

I dread to think what the new groups will look like.

 

And instead of "Friends" they have "Followers!" click on Followers on top of your profile page and you will see a

few that are listed as "Following You" and some that aren't. Surely if they're on your friends list they are

all following you. lol

 

Will definately miss the Artist Library layout, that was good to browse through. I hate the new list version.

Be warned that when you go onto the site it does try and make you turn on your video and microphone, but you can mute both of those again in the bottom left corner :D

Music scrobbling service shows off its first brand new design for years this week.

Last.fm has unveiled its first site redesign for years this week. Yes, if you didn't realise, Last.fm is still a thing with hundreds of thousands of users.

 

As a user for over 10 years, this is very exciting news. Last.fm has seemed like a bit of a ghost town on the updates front in recent years. But is it any good?

 

For those who have no idea what Last.fm is, it is a website that specialises in finding music recommendations for you, by the use of 'scrobbling' everything you listen to via a plugin in your music players like iTunes. It can also scrobble via your tablet or smartphone and various other places.

 

For music lovers and list geeks, it has provided a treasure trove of charts and stats about your music taste and where to find other artists and songs you may like, as well as connecting you to other people.

 

However, since being bought by CBS in 2007, the site has had few updates despite a large user base, and it has shifted into trying to break into the music streaming market with little success.

 

The new site looks vastly different to the classic old one, which is always necessary, but it's such a big leap that it has put off a lot of users. However, it has made users' listening history available in full for the first time, rather than just the top 500 artists and so on, so this is a hugely welcome change.

 

On the Last.fm forums, the reaction appears to be universally negative, with many users bemoaning the changes and even setting up a petition to get it changed back.

 

One user wrote: "this is unironically the worst thing that has EVER happened", while another went so far as to describe it as "a cross between late-period Myspace and 9/11".

 

The new design is certainly nowhere near as bad as some users are making out, but change is always tricky to get used to, and Last.fm definitely needed to try something new to stay relevant.

Where have my events and my journals gone?!

They'll be coming back soon. Really not sure why they decided to go live with so many missing features though.

I have tried to start scrobbling again today (technically yesterday) after not scrobbling for months. Hmm not sure if I'll keep at it this time though, the problems were just endless and my statistics are already messed up from previous times. Could reset it I guess but not sure. I'm gonna try to scrobble my iPod at some point to see if that's still messed up, it used to be. Pretty much every second song would either scrobble a million times or not at all. I don't have time for these mindgames.
The biggest Pain for me on the new site is the lists of songs that have been scrobbled. Why can't they be a bit more compact. That should be an option.
The thing that annoys me now is that I have no idea how to see if Friends have scrobbled an artist. Not important, but I do like a nosey!
So instead of my incorrect play counts being fixed, 1D's Drag Me Down has had its play count multipled by 10 or so. So it's just been made worse. Thanks last.fm ~
Not only is the website change about as bad as I've ever seen before my scrobbler has completely stopped working, with everything just becoming cached for the last couple of days.
I haven't synced my ipod (and therefore scrobbled) for a week because I'm too scared. :(

Everyone seems to have trouble with scrobbling but me :/

Scrobbled yesterday all day and this morning and everything's there as it should. I'm usually not this lucky so I'm fully expecting my profile to suddenly disappear.

 

I kinda like the new layout and the new features, but I miss the way charts appeared on my main page and I miss that I had those 8 widgets for my most played artists. Now it's all a bit **BAM HERE'S A MASSIVE PICTURE OF THE CHEEKY GIRLS, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED** but hey oh...

I'm gonna try to scrobble my iPod today (haven't done it in months) for experimentation reasons.
