August 22, 201214 yr Have they really not added Taylor Swift after how well it's already doing and the fact they've already been playing it and she's performing at the R1 Teen Awards?
August 22, 201214 yr Example and Mumford & Sons both straight onto the B-List :o :cheer: I'm a little bit disappointed with 'Say Nothing' in all honesty but I was the same with 'Changed The Way You Kiss Me' and that ended up growing on me massively. 'I Will Wait' on the other hand is brilliant, hopefully not too long until it gets released here. Only heard 'Forget' out of the C-List additions but yay for that being (re-?)added! Really hope it can finally get her a hit. Good to see TNGHT added to the INMWT list as well.
August 22, 201214 yr Is it me or is there less songs on this weeks A List? There's only 15. I'm sure it was 18 last week?
August 22, 201214 yr Author Also worth pointing out: the playlist got a significant reduction this week.
August 22, 201214 yr Anyone know of a reason for the reduction? Is this a permanent thing or just for this week?
August 22, 201214 yr Also worth pointing out: the playlist got a significant reduction this week. Thanks for clarifying that. Not much for me in new additions this week. :w00t: for the Killers, I still haven't heard that new Script song properly yet. Retro wise there's some great tunes there from the likes of Muse, Ian Van Dahl, Roger Sanchez, Supermen Lovers, Tall Paul and Kosheen.
August 22, 201214 yr Author Anyone know of a reason for the reduction? Is this a permanent thing or just for this week? I have no idea. Guess we'll have to wait and see
August 22, 201214 yr I have no idea. Guess we'll have to wait and see As it's Radio 1, I'd guess it's so that the DJ's can have more airtime to talk inane nonsense that their listeners really don't want to hear. It's incredibly sad to look at just how many songs Radio 1 played in comparison back in 2001. :(
August 22, 201214 yr As it's Radio 1, I'd guess it's so that the DJ's can have more airtime to talk inane nonsense that their listeners really don't want to hear. Because the one thing Radio 1 really want to do is increase the amount of stuff their listeners don't want to hear. That'll really push up their audience figures.
August 22, 201214 yr Oh that playlist reduction is just dire. I hope it's either not permanent or more non-playlisted new music will get more plays. Having said that the same amount of songs have been added as usual, it wouldn't be a bad thing if it just meant songs were spending less time playlisted.
August 22, 201214 yr Oh god, that reduction is not a good move. SUCH a dull week as well. Yay for Delilah I suppose is all I can say and that isn't even one of my highlights of the album anyway!
August 22, 201214 yr Author As it's Radio 1, I'd guess it's so that the DJ's can have more airtime to talk inane nonsense that their listeners really don't want to hear. It's incredibly sad to look at just how many songs Radio 1 played in comparison back in 2001. :( That was the first thing that crossed my mind, but isn't Moyles leaving? He's the worst one. Yeah the playlist has had quite a few reductions since the 90s, I guess they haven't finished chopping it up. Let's hope its just this week
August 22, 201214 yr Maybe the reason for the reduction is so that they can attract more listeners by playing the same songs over again and again. Capital and Heart get LOTS of listeners and they're known for not having a lot of variety. :drama: I hope not, I like Capital but we don't need R1 to become a clone of it. Hopefully with Grimmy taking over the breakfast show he'll mix the unknown with the chart smashes instead of playing just Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Ed Sheeran.
August 22, 201214 yr Blah at those additions but YES for 'Esta Noche' being Nick Grimshaw's 'Next Big Thing'
