He tried again in 2008 but 'Big Fish Little Fish' only got to #81. Sad times.

No, their first single ('Do What U Like') failed to make the Top 75, I think it was #80 or thereabouts. Then 'Once You've Tasted Love' and last year's 'Happy Now' both missed the Top 40. They've had 23 consecutive Top 40 singles though.

I think it's pointless considering any act with fewer than at least 10 singles for this. Otherwise any old one hit wonder could have a #1 single, not release anything else and claim a 100% Number 1 hit rate!

Just thought of another one - can't believe no one's mentioned them already but 911 have a 100% Top 40 hit rate, with their 13 singles released between 1996 and 1999. 10 of them made the top 10.

East 17 did however manage 100% top 40 record.

'The Garden' in March 2009 which made it to #96 the third single off their album 'Circus'

Also 'When We Were Young' made #87 last year although that was a album track.

acts having afew hits and then not releasing any more isnt that impressive, there are loads of them in chart terms. Acts having consistent runs of hits is far more impressive - Madonna had a few flops then Top 40 from 1984 until very recently. Kylie had a run from 1988 until a couple of years ago. Pet Shop Boys had a run from 1985 (early flops eventually became hits) until 3 years ago. Now THAT's impressive! Come back in 2030 and we''l see if Rihanna, Cheryl, Gaga & co have managed to have 25 years of official 100% top 40 hits (album tracks should be ignored). My money's on Gaga...:)

Oh yes, can't believe East 17 have been overlooked! 100% strike rate with 16 Top 40 hits, not bad. Plus another 2 if you count the ones they did as E17 after Tony Mortimer left.

There's no guarantee that Gaga will have another decade of successful singles. No one knows when someone will fall out of popularity or take some bad directions with their material.

That did go top 40, although is sadly her lowest peaking top 40 hit (it's my personal favourite song of hers). 'Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)' missed the top 40 but it's debatable whether that counts as a single or not. Aside from that she has a 100% top 40 strike rate with her singles I believe.

It is *technically* a single (it had a digital EP, CD, and Remix EP), but it was just a little gift to fans after the Aphrodite Tour. It wasn't ever intended to be released to be a hit.

 

And The One is definitely a favourite of mine too! :wub: PURE PERFECTION. Why did its CD release have to be cancelled? :angry:

I know she was only a featuring artist but didn't German Bold Italic miss the chart in 1998?
