Has Pink performed on something? She's gone up 10% in the last hour or so and is up to 7! I hope Good Time can climb a couple so it is safe from the drop!

Just because it is most people's favourite video (and where is the evidence for this?), it doesn't make it iconic.

And by "a few years", I presume you mean since 2008 in which case 'Single Ladies' definitely qualifies.

GaGa might be an icon but I wouldn't say she has had a single truly iconic video - especially 'Bad Romance'.

I just checked, and Party Rock Anthem used to be the most-liked music video on Youtube (only just overtaken by, coincidentally, Gangnam Style ). So that's pretty good evidence. And everybody just seemed to have only positive things to say about the video. Most other videos I don't hear anything about IRL, but everybody was talking about Party Rock Anthem and Sexy and I Know It, and everybody is talking about Gangnam Style now. I was saying earlier, I always see someone talking about the song on my Facebook or Twitter feeds, whilst most videos I don't expect to see even 1 mention of anywhere.

I guess Single Ladies can count though. That was an Internet phenomenon, a bit like Call Me Maybe this year.

She performed on Alan Carr : Chatty Man. :)

This. An incredible song, which id love even if I wasn't brought up as a Liverpool fan.

There is something so moving about it, very emotional. #2 now Cmon #1 please.

I've always detested "You'll Never Walk Alone" but obviously these circumstances mean I wouldn't dream of begrudging it a high chart placing. #1 would just be bizarre, given the massive events in recent years that have failed to deliver a chart topper (the Paralympics most recently).
Go Gerry!! Excellent news - the very first record I bought (in 1963 for 33p).

33p? the price of a chewing gum

This comment on the first video on Youtube for You'll Never Walk Alone is probably what caused the surge to number 2:

Get this to no.1! Download it on iTunes, wherever... All proceeds go to the Hillsborough Support Group. JFT96! YNWA from a BWFC fan.

Cheryl will probably end up at 13 or 14, shame Amelia won't hang on though.
They should make "You'll Never Walk Alone" 59p! It would skyrocket then! Would be a great surprise #1!
I love that Green Day song, good to see it back. It also reminds of Seinfeld.

05. Pink - Blow Me (One Last Kiss) - Quite surprised to have seen Alan Carr have such a positive effect as songs usually don't have such a great effect from Alan Carr Chatty Man.

08. David Guetta & Sia - She Wolf

09. Little Mix - Wings (I wouldn't mind this dropping out of the top 10 next week instead of Good Time)

14. Cheryl - Under The Sun (Hopefully this gets a deserved new peak this week)

25. Conor Maynard & Ne-Yo - Turn Around

27. Psy - Gangnam Style

It is an issue that people are (understandably) quite emotive about.

You'll Never Walk Alone is the anthem of Liverpool FC.

I understand why it re-entered the charts this week, but not why it has made such a move in the last 24 hours - the Hillsborough report has already been in the news for several days...

Or the pre-decimal equivalent, I assume. :P

 4. You'll Never Walk Alone - Gerry & The Pacemakers

Fucking hell, if this boost isn't short-lived and Example underperforms next week this could actually return to #1 after 49 years :o Extremely unlikely though, but it must be looking at a top 10 re-entry at least now (and definitely back in the top 40 this week).

I'd buy it myself if I thought it had a real chance of keeping Example fom #1! :)

Gerry Marsden has said all proceeds will be donated to the Hillsborough charities. There's since been a little campaign on twitter to get the song to number one

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Hardly surprising to see it make a entry in the lower reaches of the top 100. But this is far more than just people individually seing coverage of Hillsborough on the news and being reminded of the Liverpool anthem. There must be some kind of internet campaign behind this. Somebody posted a link to a YouTube video suggesting that might well be the case.

Then they're 49 years too late... :P
