Radio 2 listeners are a different demographic, however radio 1 listeners will also be downloaders.....

Its never worth trying to gauge an XF stars longeivity by the first single. Remember Diana Vickers? No, no does anybody else yet she started so well

You've not met Ryan741, Doug or even me, then.

True so compare those 2, and not use radio 2 as a way of avoiding a response :P

2. BBC Radio 1 (11.3m)

5. Capital (7.0m)

Capital Radio may get high airplay but radio 1 has more listeners

The difference is that Capital will happily play various songs over 200 times in a month, the most played songs on Radio 1 in one week are somewhere around 25. So a song given high rotation on Capital will be played at least double the amount of times than a song given high rotation on Radio 1.

That makes sense. I have seen it as Amelia Lily came 3rd and her song is more mainstream so the mainstream channel have picked her up.

I am still gutted that Aiden G has struggled against both, and I do prefer his debut

3 Amelia Lily/ You Bring Me Joy Other versions at #399 (Steve Smart & Westfunk Club Remix)

9 Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen/ Good Time Other versions at #155

18 Tulisa/ Live It Up (Album Mix) Other versions at #44 (Radio Edit)

30 Plan B/ Deepest Shame Other versions at #213, #920 (Andy C Remix)

33 The Killers/ Runaways

53 Labrinth/ Treatment Other versions at #365, #806

200 Red Hot Chili Peppers/ Magpies On Fire

I said Radio 1 and Capital get listened to by different demographics, which is why we should not comapre them.

Put it this way, if Misha B got Capital support, and not Radio 1 support, and was 99p (i.e. same situation as Amelia), she would've probably got top 10.

Loreen's Euphoria is at #121 - it's had much more longevity than I ever thought it would! Was it played somewhere or something?

Shocked to see Amelia Lily doing so well. I had a feeling it'd go top 10, but only #8/9 - looks like a top 5 debut is definitely on the cards. A great debut single from the artist though, most of the 2011 batch have done well with their debuts actually - 'Home Run' and 'Wings' were both great too. Collins' cover of 'Seven Nation Army' not so much, though second (flop) single 'Mercy' was pretty good.

The better news still is Tulisa doing comparitively poorer - with the top version only at #17. Yes, Ne-Yo had a steady climb to the top last week, but I'm sure he was already top 10 at this point on Sunday. I think we can rule 'Live It Up' out of contention for #1, but it'll be interesting to see how far it climbs/whether it even goes top 10 on iTunes.

Tulisa is climbing so slow, Glad Amelia is #3! I want David Guetta to get #1 tho like i said i love she wolf falling to pieces!
The sad news is that Tulisa is probably top 10 combined.

She's #14 combined

Should we all declare Tulisa's not going to No.1 then?

Or should we wait till we see the situation around this time tomorrow?

Seriously hope 'You Bring Me Joy' stalls. Would be the 4th worst #1 of the year so far ahead of Bom Bom, Twilight and Payphone (no bandwagon please as we did this one just a couple of weeks ago :P)

Disappointing but not exactly surprising to see Tulisa not doing overly well, just really hope she can go top 10. The Killers looking unlikely to go top 10 (currently #31), best case scenario here is probably it doing a 'Radioactive' (KOL, not Marina) and taking off tomorrow :( Mumford & Sons climbing pretty quickly @ #61 :D Great to see the label not going for the awful 'release on the same week as the album' strategy or it could have done as poorly as 'Teenage Icon' last week.

Exactly so true she done well to get to 11 tbh hopefully her new single get's support from Capital hearing her sing it live it sound's more radio friendly than Home Run

Ouch, Tulisa still not top 10. It's no surprise tbh, the song has had hardly any airplay,. I do think she'll get there eventually though.
2. You Bring Me Joy - Amelia Lily

Go Amelia! Smash that number 1 hit!
