September 10, 201214 yr Author Midweek Charts: xx aiming to deliver XL chart-topping return Source: MW Paul Willams XL Recordings is looking to score its third UK No 1 artist album this year as xx's Coexist currently heads a market also including new releases by The Script and Bob Dylan. The group's newly-issued second album had opened up a sales lead of around 25% over closest rival The Script's Epic/Phonogenic set Number 3 by the end of business on Tuesday with Columbia act Dylan's Tempest a few thousand sales further behind, according to the Official Charts Company. If Coexist remains in front by the time the final chart is published on Sunday it will be XL's third UK chart-topper this year following Adele's 21 and Jack White's Blunderbuss. It will also mark a new chart peak for the group whose self-titled 2009 debut ultimately peaked at 3 following its Barclaycard Mercury Prize win, selling around 445,000 copies to date in the UK. The Script, meanwhile, topped the chart with their first two albums and presently also sit at No 2 on the midweek singles chart with their will.i.am pairing Hall Of Fame, which debuted in the same position last Sunday. It is being outsold currently by You Bring Me Joy, the first single by Amelia Lily who finished third in the 2011 series of The X Factor. It is released by the writing and production team Xenomania's new label (also called Xenomania) with RCA. Back on the albums countdown and at present four of the five top artist sellers are brand new releases with xx and The Script joined by Bob Dylan with his 35th studio album in third place and Parlophone act Pet Shop Boys' Elysium fifth. Dylan's last regular studio album, 2009's Together Through Life, topped the UK chart, although there was a festive release - Christmas In The Heart - in between these albums and this peaked at 40 in 2009. This was the same year of release of Pet Shop Boys' last studio set Yes, which debuted and peaked at 4. The only non new entry among the top five sellers at this stage of the week is Coldplay's Parlophone-issued Mylo Xyloto whose sales are up 375% on the week following the band's performance at the Paralympics closing ceremony. It moves 20-4 in the midweeks. A number of their individual tracks could return to the singles chart as a result of that appearance this weekend with the latest Sales Flashes including Princess Of China with Rihanna up 51-30 (sales +88%), Paradise vaulting 92-41 (+225%), Viva La Vida improving 192-46 (+501%) and Yellow (+502%) and The Scientist (+446%) back in at 60 and 64 respectively. Joe McElderry is also one of the new entrants among the Top 10 artist album sellers at this stage of the week with his UCJ set Here's What I Believe showng up in ninth position, while the Columbia act The Vaccines' Come Of Age is down to 6 having debuted at No 1 last weekend. Emeli Sande's Virgin debut Our Version Of Events drops 4-7 and Kistune act Two Door Cinema Club's Beacon 2-8, while Columbia/Roc Nation's Rita Ora falls 3-10 with Ora. Another six brand new albums are among the Top 40 sellers outside the Top 10 and take in new sets from Atlantic's Canadian punk rock band Billy Talent, Positiva/Virgin's David Guetta with a "2.0" overhaul of his Nothing But The Beat, Vertigo/Mercury's ZZ Top with their first album since 2003, Melanie C on her Red Girl label, PIAS Recordings' Gallows, 4AD's David Byrne and St Vincent and City Slang's Calexico. On the singles midweeks Ne-Yo's Motown/Mercury single Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love) is down to 3 having entered at No 1 last Sunday. Syco act Little Mix's former chart-topper Wings holds at 4, while Atlantic act Flo Rida looks like scoring a fourth consecutive Top 10 hit with I Cry climbing 11-5. Interscope/Republic's Good Time by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen holds at 6, Mercury's Taylor Swift moves up 8-7 with We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, while Pink's RCA track Blow Me (One Last Kiss) slips 3-8, Sam and the Womp's One More Tune/Stiff-issued declines 5-9 and Tulisa's new AATW/Island single Live It Up featuring Tyga is new at 10. The lead-off singles from two of the autumn's biggest new albums will also chart new Sunday. Vertigo/Mercury act The Killers' Runaways from the forthcoming Battle Born album is new at 15 on the midweeks and I Will Wait, the first taster of Gentlemen Of The Road/Island act Mumford & Sons' second album Babel, debuts at 19. A place below it debuts She Wolf (Falling To Pieces) by Positiva/Virgin's David Guetta featuring Sia. =================================================== Wednesday Update Top 40 Only Source: Radio 1/OCC Top 40 Singles 1 Amelia Lily 2 Script 3 Ne-Yo 4 Little Mix 5 Flo Rida 6-10 7 Taylor Swift 10 Tulisa/Tyga 11-20 12 Cheryl 15 Killers 16 Emeli Sande 19 Mumford & Sons 20 David Guetta/Sia 21-30 24 Otto Knows 30 Coldplay & Rihanna 31-40 39 David Guetta/Ne-Yo/Akon http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/update/singles/print http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/a...-1-single-1585/ =================================================== Top 40 Albums 1 The XX (6,5k ahead) 2 Script 3 Bob Dylan 4 Coldplay 5 Pet Shop Boys 6-10 9 Joe McElderry 11-20 14 Billy Talent 15 David Guetta 21-30 21 ZZ Top 27 Melanie C 29 Gallows 31-40 32 David Bryne & St. Vincent 34 Calexico 38 The XX XX 40 Cheryl http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/update/albums/print
September 10, 201214 yr Author Midweek Charts update: Possible Script change to chart-topping singles battle Source: MW by Paul Willams The Script are applying the pressure on midweek chart-topper Amelia Lily in their pursuit of a first ever UK No 1 single by closing the sales gap to just 2,000 downloads. At the beginning of the week Xenomania/RCA-signed Lily's debut single You Bring Me Joy looked destined to top the chart this Sunday with a solid 36% lead over its nearest challenger, The Script featuring will.i.am's Epic/Phonogenic release Hall Of Fame. However, by the end of business on Thursday that had narrowed to just 4%, according to the Official Charts Company. The Script single debuted at No 2 last Sunday, equalling their previous UK singles chart peak achieved by The Man Who Can't Be Moved in 2008. They also look likely to pull off the same debut on the artist albums chart this weekend with their third album Number 3 showing up as a new entry at 2 on the midweels behind The xx's newly-issued XL album Coexist. Another brand new album, Columbia act Bob Dylan's Tempest, is placed third. Other album highlights in the week so far include Coldplay's Mylo Xyloo rising 20-4 after sales lifted 349% following their Paralympics closing ceremony appearance, while there are new entries from fellow Parlophone act Pet Shop Boys with Elysium at 7 and UCJ's Joe McElderry with Here's What I Believe at 8. With Amelia Lily and The Script at 1 and 2 on the midweek singles listings Motown/Mercury act Ne-Yo has dropped to 3 with Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love) after debuting at the top last Sunday. Little Mix's second Syco single Wings holds at 4 and Atlantic act Flo Rida's I Cry moves up 11-5 in the week so far. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Friday Update Top 40 Only Singles 1 Amelia Lily (2k ahead) 2 Script/will.i.am 3 Ne-Yo 4 Little Mix 5 Flo Rida Top 10 6 Taylor Swift Top 15 11 Tulisa/Tyga 12 Cheryl 15 David Guetta/Sia Top 20 Muford & Sons 17 Killers Top 30 22 David Guetta/Ne-Yo/Akon Otto Knows Top 40 Coldplay & Rihanna 37 Kanye west/Jay-Z/Big Sean 40 The XX [Angels] ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Albums 1 The XX 2 The Script 3 Bob Dylan 4 Coldplay 5 The Vaccines Top 10 7 Pet Shop Boys 8 Joe McElderry Top 15 David Guetta Top 20 16 Adele Billy Talent Top 30 ZZ Top 27 Alt-J Top 40 36 The XX [XX] 38 David Bryne & St Vincent Melanie C The Gallows NO SALES INFO
September 10, 201214 yr I'm hoping for the Top 5 to look like this on Sunday: 01 The XX 02 The Script 03 The Vaccines 04 Two Door Cinema Club 05 Coldplay Although it's a bit too early to tell by just look at the iTunes Album Chart. And like Bre said in the iTunes Album Thread, Emeli Sande could always get into the Top 5, as she's repeating Adele's weekend effect from last year.
September 10, 201214 yr Bob Dylan will probably be somewhere in the top 5 as well now I think about it. The xx, The Script and Bob Dylan will all be in there and the last 2 places are between Emeli, Coldplay, The Vaccines, Two Door Cinema Club and maybe David Guetta although I'm not sure the few extra songs will give him that much of a boost. Pet Shop Boys and Joe McElderry will probably both also be top 10 at least in the mids.

Pet Shop Boys and Joe McElderry will probably both also be top 10 at least in the mids. I know Bob Dylan is high on iTunes, but I wasn't sure if he would drop a bit. I guess he could be Top 5, if Ronan Keating managed to hold onto the Top 5 last week. A more realistic prediction compared to the one that I want would be: 01 The Script 02 The XX 03 The Vaccines 04 Bob Dylan 05 Emeli Sande 06 Two Door Cinema Club 07 Coldplay 08 Rita Ora 09 Pet Shop Boys 10 Joe McElderry With 4 versions in the Top 40 iTunes Chart and probably much more hype than The XX, I think The Script will be #1. #6 and #7 could possibly change places, although #7 and #8 could change places too! Depends on how well Coldplay hold up. I don't think David Guetta will be Top 10 if there is only a few extra tracks - Florence + the Machine was just outside the Top 20 with the Ceremonials deluxe, but David Guetta I could see entering the Top 20, probably Top 15 with airplay of She Wolf growing. I'm not too sure about Joe McElderry at #10 though - it's not doing well on iTunes, but he will be a MUCH bigger physical seller, and I can't see him not entering the Top 10 following the success of Classic. Plan B will probably end up at #11. Only time will tell! And at least the album chart is becoming very interesting!
September 10, 201214 yr Bob Dylan's last studio album (excluding a Christmas album which is slightly different) got to #1 so I see no reason why the new one wouldn't get to at least the top 5, although I doubt it'll beat The xx or The Script. He's far from a download-leaning artist, really surprised to see him in the iTunes top 5 - reminds me of Leonard Cohen's 'Old Ideas' earlier in the year (which got to #2). The xx vs. The Script is really hard to call for #1, I was pretty sure The xx had it in the bag until 'Hall Of Fame' smashed (I was expecting more low top 10) but it really could be either of them. September 11, 201214 yr Author Interesting week in the albums chart, I think the Script can pull it off. I never thought Amelia Lily could pull it off, to me that will be a shock #1, I would have thought top 15 the most. The only thing her track is going to do a Diana Vickers and snowball the week after. I still can't get my head round it, keep on thinking come Sunday she might just get pipped.
September 11, 201214 yr Bob Dylan was available in Tesco last night when i was there which is a sign it will sell well imo!!
September 11, 201214 yr OMG what a release week for albums! One of the best I've seen ever Add Coldplay to the mix and we have remarkably competitive top 5 I predict Script Bob Dylan XX (all above 50k) Coldplay PSB But did anyone know Mel C is releasing an album? Edited September 11, 201214 yr by SKOB
September 11, 201214 yr The Script, the xx AND Bob Dylan all over 50k? No chance. I think The Vaccines and Two Door Cinema Club were lucky last week to get 44k and 33k, I can't see any of this week's releases doing any better. I'm predicting The Script to debut at #1 on sales of ~38k, the xx in second with ~25k and then Bob Dylan to sell around ~16k; though depending on Sande/Coldplay/Two Door and The Vaccines, he could debut anywhere between #3-7 (in my opinion).
September 11, 201214 yr Amelia Lily is number 1 Amelia Lily@AmeliaLilyOffic Guys make sure you buy my single You Bring Me Joy here>>http://smarturl.it/YBMJ let's keep it at number 1! source: http://twitter.com/AmeliaLilyOffic
September 11, 201214 yr Possibly but I doubt there is a song that has been bought more times than her one so far this week.
September 11, 201214 yr Author JAMES INGHAM @JAMESINREHAB Joe McElderry's fourth album Here's What I Believe is currently No.9 in the midweeks. Source: https://twitter.com/#!/search/?q=midweeks&src=typd

Dylan's latest (excluding the Christmas album) opened with 42k so it's definitely possible, at least 40k is. He's a physical seller too. Maybe I was too positive about 50k (said The Vaccines could do it last week, but they came a bit short of that) but definitely 40k or so. Edited September 11, 201214 yr by SKOB
September 11, 201214 yr I think the scripts new album will be the biggest seller this week easily enough - not sure what they opened with for the last album but i would say they could do 50-60k, Bob Dylans harder to estmate maybe 30k and XX on 25k, coldplay should do around 20k too which is good!!
