#19 is around where I thought 'I Will Wait' would be today, it did get off to a pretty slow start (being a 'pulled forward at short notice' release). It will definitely get them their highest peaking single to date anyway and will hopefully climb a bit more over the week, currently #14 on iTunes. Good to see 'Runaways' at least top 15 although ti'll probably fall from that by Sunday, top 20 is still far from bad for an alternative act.

'Coexist' is actually pulling ahead of '#3' now, it was only 4.5k ahead yesterday but not 6.5k ahead. I really can't see The Script catching them now even if they do start gaining later in the week. 'Mylo Xyloto' up to #4 today :D It won't climb any further as the top 3 are way too far ahead but hopefully it can hold #4. Joe McElderry still looking good to stay top 10 having not dropped from yesterday.

So the Script could peak at #2 in both charts, it seems Amelia could slip to #3 in the end.
Wednesday Update Top 40 Only

Top 40 Singles

1 Amelia Lily

2 Script

3 Ne-Yo

I get the feeling that this week will be one of those rare situations where the initial mid-week number one (who is the initial number one on iTunes as well) will be knocked off the iTunes number one by the artist at #3 in the midweeks, allowing the #2 artist in the midweeks to get the official number one on Sunday due to the competition cancelling each other out.

She sold 1.504 copies on monday (including pre-orders) and only added 183 yesterday. If the album continues to sell like that it could be very difficult to reach 2.500 copies. Those were needed to get Top 40 last week.

Must be the first time radio 1 have played Amelias single on the update - unless the sunday evening show played it - it sometimes plays pop songs not on the playlist to cater for the young audience!

Yeah it was the last song to be played on the chart show on Sunday.

No, they played She Wolf instead.

Instead? They usually play all the new entries, or as many as they have time to. So Play Hard was probably not played since they wouldn't have had time to fit it in this week, rather than because of She Wolf.

Not happy to see The Vaccines down to #6, I so hope it can get back into the Top 5. I though David Guetta would make a return to the Top 15, I guess it could return to the Top 10, as long as it doesn’t knock Rita Ora down to #11 or below. Big drop for Maroon 5 after holding up so well – time for the second single, why is it taking so long? Great to see Cheryl’s A Million Light return to the Top 40 – Jonathon Ross effect? If so, it could be at risk of falling out again. Hope that Nicki Minaj can return to the Top 40 – falling from #26 is too big of a drop.

Great to see Emeli Sande’s Read All About It (Part III) climbing, albeit only by one place. Wiley’s Heatwave falling quite fast now, I’m just surprised it got to number one in the first place. Angel’s Wonderful also falling fast – the 59p reduction obviously helped it a lot to reach the Top 10.

Is David Guetta's Nothing but the Beat 2.0 being counted as a separate album? It has been on the Radio 1 Update Chart page.

would like to see Billy Talent stay in the top 20 if they can, don't think they've had a UK top 40 album over here and they deserve it. Dead Silence probably isn't their best album but it's a very good one

Gallows album is pretty decent as well, hopefully that stays in the top 40 as well

I'm sure The Vaccines will re-overtake Pet Shop Boys and stay top 5, 'Elysium' is going to be extremely frontloaded (well it's already fallen behind Coldplay for one :P) and probably end the week at about #8/9 I think.

If that's the case it might just keep her at #1 on iTunes for a bit longer as she's about to be overtaken by Ne-yo. If she can he at #1 on iTunes for a little bit longer she may be able to hold the #1 officially this week; however if the radio 1 play doesn't boost her then I reckon either the script or Ne-yo (or both) will finish ahead of her on Sunday's chart.

does anyone know how many joe mcelderry albums has sold so far today?
Midweek Charts: xx aiming to deliver XL chart-topping return

Source: MW

Paul Willams

XL Recordings is looking to score its third UK No 1 artist album this year as xx's Coexist currently heads a market also including new releases by The Script and Bob Dylan.

If Coexist remains in front by the time the final chart is published on Sunday it will be XL's third UK chart-topper this year following Adele's 21 and Jack White's Blunderbuss. It will also mark a new chart peak for the group whose self-titled 2009 debut ultimately peaked at 3 following its Barclaycard Mercury Prize win, selling around 445,000 copies to date in the UK.

Hey, that's just within the range I predicted in my YTD thread! :cheer:

Looks like it, its got a NE beside it

That's strange, is it because it has a completely different tracking list (like not just the extra tracks being added in, but the original tracks being jumbled up)? I presume this means sales won't be combined either?

It does make sense (kind of) that 'Nothing But The Beat 2.0' is being counted as a separate album, it's not the usual 'original tracklisting with a few more songs tacked on the end' formula as most re-releases. I guess that's going to kill the sales of the 'original' album then! Might just be an error though.

I really don't know, to be honest his album is no different from the Amy Winehouse albums situation from last year, with all the different versions in the end they were combined. OCC probably haven't realised yet, and probably get ironed out later in the week.

edit... ignore above, Bre explained it better.

That's what I was trying to say, although you said much better. :P I tried to think of some other 2.0 versions - I found Pussycat Dolls' Doll Domination 3.0 version (a 2.0 version was released in Australia only) and that had lots of extra songs dotted all around, although I think if you take away these extra tracks, the original tracking list is the same.

I do like the Script song alot, but i really wanted Amelia to be number 1, i believe the number 1 would be more crucial or beneficial to Amelia than the Script as the Script have already carved out a very successful career.
