Hardly, she had a shitload more casual buyers who probably won't buy her next album.

Even if just 1 in 20 of those who bought '21', buy this, she'd still stomp OD into the ground...

Just counsulted my Bond bible :teresa: No, the highest was A View To A Kill (1985) by Duran Duran, peaked at #2

And just sold under 500k, so it seems incredibly likely that Adele will beat the highest position and sales! :w00t: Ahhh, so looking forward to this! I'm sure a Bond geek! B-)

I must be the only person not excited about this. I've seriously never rated Adele and she's now easily one of the most overrated artists ever. It'll be massive though.

That's 225k in its entire chart run, so no.

BOOM.

Why is everyone so sure that this will sell really well? It probably won't. I think that people are overpredicting it because it's Adele, which is why people are saying that "It's going to be #1 for weeks!!!" and "It's going to be a million-seller!!!". I don't think Adele has a fanbase. A lot of people just like her music, that's all. It will go Top 10, but it won't go to #1. Mark my words.

This is coming from an Adele fan.

What? Surely if you are a fan of someone, you like their music?

No? If you're a fan of someone, you love their music. That's the way I see it.

But she must have some sort of fanbase if 4 million plus people buy 21. I don't think all of them bought the album just because.

As Charlie said, there are a lot of casual buyers of 21 out there. Most people don't know the sales of the album so 3.5 million people probably bought 21 because they thought the songs were 'nice'.

I think this is practically a guaranteed #1 although it's a little bit presumptuous calling it as a million seller already. Surprised there hasn't been a Bond theme #1 before :o

I hope we do get this OA/OS but I really doubt it.

I meant *first week*, obviously. :P

But that's not a good definition - 95% of One Direction fans will be Estrogen-overdosed adolescent girls - the actual music is fairly incidental to them.

Then it's hopelessly optimistic, Adele as a single-selling brand is nowhere near the same as One Direction - as you clearly know.

Won't beat Tomorrow Never Dies by Sheryl Crow :kink:

Predictions based only on Adelle's status?

I hope it is a good song, but I find most Bond songs really stupid to be fair.

Will it be Adelle's first non-break-up themed song though? :teresa:

I think the Bond themes from the 90s were certainly the best! I think Tomorrow Never Dies could possibly be my favourite Bond Theme too! GoldenEye, The World is Not Enough and Surrender (appears on the end credits to Tomorrow Never Dies, by k.d.Lang) are brilliant too!

If it's a good track, then I hope it charts and sells well. Let's not get carried away though, bear in mind that:

Rolling in the deep never reached #1,

Set Fire to the rain never reached the top 10, and

Rumour Has It never reached the top 75!

So nothing is certain.

The latter two were post-album releases, and Rolling in the Deep was released before 21's massive success. And besides, it had strong competition from Bruno Mars' Grenade's second week sales.

Plus this is a brand new single which can't be found on her album. Her album was around when those singles were released.

My favourite Bond theme ever. No.12 is actually a bit of an insult.
