I was so confident Muse would get their 4th consecutive studio No.1 album!! Without any stats, I'm a wee bit worried now! I suppose if Mumford & Sons hold on, Muse would have lost out to a great band.

Don't Lea & Perrins make Worcestershire Sauce?

Oh right - source/sauce...

Apologies for the shit joke, but less face it - you've used much worse in the past/are still using currently.

And they were genuine midweeks by the way, One Direction will almost certainly not be #1 this coming Sunday. The 6 000 lead is large lead but I suspect it was double that after close of business Sunday which means Rihanna may overhaul it by tomorrow at this rate.

Anyone knows what's the difference between Muse and M&S?

An ampersand and a couple of vowels?

I seriously hope one direction arent number one on sunday. They don't deserve it and its a rubbish song.

Hopefully Muse will be number 1 in the albums. Just had a listen, It's a good album. My local record store were giving away Muse free t-shirts if you bought the album on Monday, which is nice. :D

Diamonds is falling on Itunes now, PSY is catching up.
It's been falling for a while now. PSY at his lowest was 68.75% of Rihanna - now he's 80%. The Script are beginning to catch Ellie too so all the new releases are beginning to faulter.

Will be interesting to know what is the gap between Muse and M &S.

It's very unsurprising for Muse to be #1after day one as like many rock bands they will have huge pre-orders and high first day instore sales from hardcore fans.

They will tail off drastically, but it just depends on the gap as M&S will have stable and consistent sales through the week.

I've only just twigged... post of the week

Muse and Mumford and Sons i believe will be closer than people think in sales of terms although Muse will hold the number slot, sales in the top 10 will be decent all round this week.

Single sales will all be very high in the top 3, could the top 3 all reach 100,000 this week? i do believe there is a chance, ideally One Direction will be number 1 but it wont happen now.

I read pippa's post like a weather forecast in my head. Did anyone else?

A bit like Mark and Lard's weekly chart forecast they used to do on Fridays?

I would say Rihanna's been top long enough and with a big enough lead to take the number 1 spot come sunday.

1D have only got a 6k lead and their sales declined sharply. I dont think PSY is in contention at all - even if he does get a late run

It's not given that GS will overtake 1D either. It sold 85k last week, must do the same to beat LLWY and the latter has strong physical sales

Will 1D have any significant promo coming up later this week?

Only a 6k difference between Rihanna and One Direction - reckon 'Diamonds' could easily overtake them by Wednesday evening/Thursday morning then - and at the least suggests One Direction are out of the running for #1. The more interesting battle this week is Adele vs. the rest of the top 40. Where will it debut?
Im sure, despite their tweets, that they aren't completely fussed whether they get number 1 or not. Main thing for them is that it will go number 1 over the pond and it will probably end up doing that across Europe as well.
One Direction need promo this week, promotion and lots of it could secure them number 1, as i said it will no doubt lose out on going number 1 it at the same time will open with extremely decent sales which is important. It will be interesting to see what sales their 2nd album open with, that will be the tester for them and an indication of their longeivity.
I don't think 1D care much about that UK number 1..... They'd rather have it in the US....
