October 14, 201213 yr 24  (from 11) Jason Mraz - I Won't Give Up [D] http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41jBRjbG37L._AA115_.jpg Chart Run: 16-15-15-17-16-13-16-18-22-23-30-38-48-46-52-52-55-58-69-54-58-68-xx(6 wks)-23-11-24 [25 wks] Release date: 11-03-2012 Format: download only single Label: Atlantic Records Video here: O1-4u9W-bns Chart history (Year peak title): 2008 11 I'm Yours -1- 2012 11 I Won't Give Up -1-
October 14, 201213 yr Bom Bom's been eclipsed by the more weird and more successful Gangnam Style methinks...
October 14, 201213 yr Bom bom is actually a very well made song- shame its chart run isn't great so far.
October 14, 201213 yr The rest is rapping, or basically speaking. I can't stand pure rap. Sounds so wrong sandwiched in between two great songs. It's the best song in the top 40 imo (closely followed by probably Feel the Love). There's like 30 other MOR "singy-songy" songs with nice little melodies and not too much going on for them to be pleasent to listen to, etc. I don't think it's worth so many people complaining whenever a song like Clique gets into the top 40. It's nice to have something different get in the charts. Capital FM are giving Clique a few spins at night-time, which I think is really helping the song. The Disclosure song is quite weird, but it's great to see it in the chart. I wonder how big it'll be.
October 14, 201213 yr What happened to Jason Mraz? I really liked his three singles from the last era but this one feels coma-inducing...
October 14, 201213 yr Bom bom is actually a very well made song- shame its chart run isn't great so far. It's done a lot better than I expected - I thought it would have a similar chart run to Loca People, but instead it is gradually dropping down the chart.
October 14, 201213 yr Perhaps Mraz will soon have 2 of the 5 biggest selling Number 11 hits ever.
October 14, 201213 yr It's quite strange how artists can go from successful to underperforming in the space of an era. Change The Way You Kiss Me was a big #1, then Stay Awake was a decent sized #1 and a year later Example struggles to last four weeks in the top 40. :o Even though Say Nothing is hardly a departure from the previous sound and got decent airplay. I think acts are scared of fading now and so return yearly with new songs which arent as good a quality or the same as before and so quickly fade.
October 14, 201213 yr I prefer Bom Bom to Gangnam Style musically, although Gangnam Style is a whole other level in terms of Internet phenomena.
October 14, 201213 yr 23 Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble [D] http://a702.phobos.apple.com/us/r2000/016/Music/v4/9a/87/5b/9a875b33-6ada-5200-0c07-bfa75bb08ecf/12UMGIM55536.100x100-75.jpg Chart Run: 23 [1 wks] Release date: 09-10-2012 Format: download only single Label: Big Machine Records, LLC Video here: HY19UekAORQ Chart history (Year peak title): 2009 02 Love Story -1- 2009 60 White Horse -AT- 2009 51 Teardrops On My Guitar -2- 2009 30 You Belong With Me -3- 2010 57 Today Was A Fairytale -OST- 2010 30 Mine -1- 2012 67 Safe And Sound (Taylor Swift Feat. October 14, 201213 yr What happened to Jason Mraz? I really liked his three singles from the last era but this one feels coma-inducing... I loved his last album and even went to see him live! But i haven't touched this new one after this horrid song. I thought he could do no wrong
October 14, 201213 yr I'm really surprised how Taylor Swift has turned things around with one single, never did I think her promo singles would go top 40 in the UK of all places, particularly as it was so hard for her to get top 40 hits in the past. But well done to her! I quite like this one as well, it's so catchy!!
October 14, 201213 yr The "Justin Bieber trick"? She did it first with her last album Reggie! I'm so happy this is her highest charting promo single so far, it's so good. Wonder if the 4th and final one can go even higher and continue that pattern.
October 14, 201213 yr When is her album out, and when will we stop getting these promo tracks!?!?
October 14, 201213 yr Justin Bieber the trendsetter... He totally invented the concept of promo singles before an album release, right Reggie? :P
October 14, 201213 yr I prefer Bom Bom to Gangnam Style musically, although Gangnam Style is a whole other level in terms of Internet phenomena. I think I agree actually - I can listen to Bom Bom by choice, whereas Gangnam Style is made strictly for parties and celebrations.
October 14, 201213 yr I think that if Blow Me (One Last Kiss) had been released OA/OS it would still be in the Top 40 today. The same goes for How We Do (Party). I think it's a shame that songs are held back for ridiculously long periods of time to get a higher peak. It sacrifices tons of sales. Indeed - it leads to songs like this having high peaks but only between 8-12 weeks in the top 40 as opposed to 25 weeks!!
