Look at you acting like me !! :P

Everybody goes a little cray cray from time to time.

I'm still not LOVING the verses. They really kill the oomph of the amazing chorus imo, but I'm sure that'll change in time.

It's equally, they sing the same amount of lines, maybe Nadine sings one more line.
faint whiff of underwhelming

LIES.

Helppp. I can't stop listening to this.

Sorry guys, but I'm not as overwhelmed by it as I should be. It's still great, but I can't help but feel that it doesn't feel much like a Girls Aloud song! As I said in the charts forum, they were more about setting the trend as opposed to chasing them. So why have they gone from making phenomenal pop, to a very good for a Calvin Harris/Girls Aloud duet sort of thing? I do like it, a lot though. But I'd be lying if I said this is what I wanted from them...
They've been doing this for years though? it's like Something Kinda Oooh, Sexy! No No No and even a bit of The Show

The only thing that's the same is the structure of the song! The production is completely different and following trends of what is a huge hit now. It's reminding me of 'Call My Name', which wasn't exactly revolutionary anyway, very good, but nothing we haven't heard before. I dunno, I'm just a tad disappointed overall as I was probably expecting something more along the lines of those three you mention (or CTS or 'Biology'). For me, they're the songs Girls Aloud should be making, imo. all in there own way bucked the trend of your normal, traditional pop song for me.

Again, wording is never a strong point of mine, but I do hope people can sort of see where I'm coming from with this

I hear you Jonjo, and that's what initially disappointed me! The only thing I would point out though, is that The Promise rode off the back of the 60's bandwagon back in 2008 and got them a #1, so maybe that's part of the logic in going for a track that sounds similar to a lot of what's out at the moment?

I've warmed to the new track though!

'The Promise' wasn't at all following the trend. Yes it was very 60's, but it sounded nothing like the 60's/retro sound that the likes of Duffy, Adele and Amy were doing (and getting success from) back then. It was completely different.
First verse dodgy- the rest a DELIGHT! , not the best thing they ever did but I'm soooooooo pleased they're back (albeit it for a short time) it's the perfecting ending to them really. They will always be the best thing to happen to the 00s to me.....
I'm now officially obsessed, as I knew I would be. Can't wait for the video!
I do like the chorus, I think it's just the verses and those wishy washy synths that stop me loving it as I should. It's good enough though, I'm backing it to go all the way.
Shocking lyrics, cringeworthy song in places tbh, I expected something much better to relaunch. I can't see it beating Olly Murs to number 1 as it'll have to shift at least 100k. Top 3 though. Really surprised the song isn't better.

You can tell it was put apart with 5 people not being in the studio and hearing one another's parts.

Am I getting old or do Nadine & Cheryl sound the same?

it's BETTER in hq but still underwhelming. WHERE'S MY NU SOUNDOFTHEUNDERGROUND?!

(01 Sound Of The Underground

02 Biology

03 Untouchable

04 The Show

05 Sexy! No No No...

~The Loving Kind, Can't Speak French, The Promise)

doesn't even compare to this lot.

Some of you seem to forget Cheryl managed to sell 152,000 just 4 months ago... so Girls Aloud can easily sell 100k+

That's always been the way they recorded though, they used to all record the songs solo and then Xenomania picks the best bits.

And there're been cases of Cheryl and Nadine sounding the same on tracks. "Something kinda ooh" being one of the most obvious one.
