Posted August 15, 200619 yr Source: Music Week Shakira and Wyclef Jean have a battle on their hands to retain the number one spot this week, with a host of new singles threatening the top spot, according to early retail reports. David Guetta vs the Egg (Gusto) is leading the charge, closely followed by Arctic Monkeys’ Leave Before the Lights Come On (Domino), Chamillionaire feat. Krayzie Bone’s Ridin’ (Universal) and Cassie’s Me & U (Bad Boy). The fifth likely newcomer to the Top Ten is Micky Modelle V Jessy’s Dancing In The Dark (All Around The World). In contention for a Top 20 appearance are Iron Maiden (EMI), Alesha and Ronan Keating (both Polydor). With the singles market currently witnessing a 20% week-on-week sales increase, a raft of other acts including Maria Lawson (Phonoegenic), The Young Knives (Trangressive), The Sunshine Underground (City Rockers) and The Futureheads (679) are poised to enter the chart, although Chico’s DISCO looks unlikely to follow its predecessor It’s Chico Time to number one after sales flashes revealed it is languishing outside the Top 40. In the albums market, Christina Aguilera’s Back to Basics (RCA) is in line to become her first chart topping album after selling almost twice the amount of albums as the current number one James Morrison since its release yesterday. Other likely new entries in the album chart come from Captain (EMI), Lambchop (City Slang), the Mamas And The Papas (UMTV) and Peter Bjorn And John (Wichita), while Shayne Ward and Andy Abraham’s albums are both experiencing huge sales increases thanks to the TV exposure given to the X-Factor contestants over the weekend. =================================================================== Singles 01 Shakira feat. August 15, 200619 yr Author Christina Aguilera will defo be #1 in the album chart with Back 2 Basics As for the single chart it could be another slow week, hopefully David Guetta or Arctic Monkeys, but I've got a funny feeling Cascada might nip it this week.
August 15, 200619 yr Album - Christina- No Doubt about it Single- Casada, i think! Dont think Artic Monkeys, track is good enough for number 1, and i think alot of chav are lovin cascada. Hopefully Shakira will leave this week!
August 15, 200619 yr Shakira will be #1 in singles again probaly untill next week Christina will be #1 in albums for shure!
August 15, 200619 yr Singles: Shakira/Cascada...but I'm hoping for a resurgence for Xtina  Albums: Without a doubt, Xtina, she'll have a strangle-hold on number one there for the next month or so methinks.
August 15, 200619 yr Yes, definately Christina for the albums, its an excellent album! Either Arctics, Cascada or Shakira in the singles - or even Chico! :o
August 15, 200619 yr please not Chico, have radio1 been playing this? No, hardly anyone has (thankfully) but we should consider he could chart high
August 15, 200619 yr yeah i like cassie track, i predict top 5 at least! 800 posts :yahoo: Edited August 15, 200619 yr by Ryan_P
August 15, 200619 yr Hopefully Arctic Monkeys - although I can see their time coming to an end. The song isn't very strong either. But it's better than Shakira and Cascada, jeez. Albums - no preferences.
August 15, 200619 yr Someone is bound to overtake Shakira by Sunday, if not I'll be very disappointed and worried about the sales of the new releases  And I think it's safe to say we're not going to see anymore of Chico -_-

I think he's getting a TV show though.. Anyway, I hope someone else goes to Number One soon, although the only one out of those new entry's that I like one tiny bit is the David Guetta track, so maybe Shakira should stay on for another week!
August 15, 200619 yr Do we know how much Xtina is gonna sell then? Can i have sales pm'd to me when they come in? Thanks.
August 15, 200619 yr Author I think David Guetta is No.1 as its leading the charge with Arctic Monkeys No.2, the MW report seems to be very vague as usual
August 15, 200619 yr Not looking good for Alesha Dixon is it? Unless it's charting on downloads only.
