At least it was noted that AK's popularity exploded the minute Kerry left  That said, they did have *some* great songs pre-Jenny, I'm just listening to the b-side Holiday at the moment and that was pretty great/melodic, shame it was never on an album.

For each good song with Kerry there are about 5 with Jenny which are better. Atomic Kitten really were The Saturdays of their time, they were really successful, got more glamorous as time and babies went on, no one new why they were successful as hardly anyone admits to liking them outside of gay men.

Pfft! No discerning gay would ever listen to ATOMIC KITTEN. They were trash!

They always felt like a 'second tier' girl group next to Sugababes and Girls Aloud, yet in 2001/2, they were definitely a-list, even though it's hard to recall how or why they were. Two #1 albums, three #1 singles including a near million seller, sell out tours etc...all during that period.

I maintain that the Ladies Night and Right Now albums are a better solid body of work than any album Girls Aloud or Sugababes put out[/immenselyunpopularopinion]

Really good episode, so insightful. Quite emotional in places, in particular with Lee breaking up with Lynsey and Natasha's post natal depression. Annoying that theyre focusing so heavily on 5ive, but I suppose they were the biggest group maybe ...

I was tearing up when I was listening to Lee's story. What a lovely, genuine guy he seems to be. I had no idea about him having cancer twice as a child, but I guess I never followed them.

Still, when he was saying all that stuff about Lindsay and how he'd get back with her I was a bit 'aww'!

Atomic Kitten's story wasn't all that unexpected. We learned Kerry was a bit of a bitch, which I'm sure we could have guessed anyway.

I do think, while it's annoying that they're focusing so much more on them, it's going to be even funnier when 5ive flop despite having the most airtime.

I just don't understand how this could be 911 & Atomic Kitten's week and 5ive's story was still being drawn out.. it was pretty boring. Jay's not coming back, you're getting a new member, Abz is an idiot.. we get it.

As much as this is a pop reunion, this is also a TV programme. Ratings are the real winners here. 5ive are by far the most well known out of the acts, and have to find a new member. It makes good TV, especially because of how much a train wreck 5ive were, hence why they're drawing it out. I dare say that if next week just showed the stories of Honeyz and B*Witched then it would flop ratings wise, hence why they're drawing things out.

As for this episode, yes it was quite emotional. The bits where the girl from Atomic Kitten was going on about her boy was pretty heartbreaking.

I'm just listening to the b-side Holiday at the moment and that was pretty great/melodic, shame it was never on an album.

[sorry if you already know the following!]

Although it didn't appear on the UK versions of 'Right Now', the original version of 'Holiday' was included on the Japanese version! The version used as the 'Whole Again' B Side is different. From memory, I think the main difference is the verses, with the B Side version being a bit rough around the edges. (Original version:

I didn't think Atomic Kitten's portrayal was the best it could have been. Obviously with Kerry back in the fold, the main focus was on when she was in the band. However, it was still a bit of a shame that, post-Kerry, the only thing that was really touched upon was Natasha's personal problems. Their level of success was glossed over.

I actually found 911's story more interesting to watch overall, and I wasn't even particularly into them back in the day. They practically looked like a phenomenon (what with the huge success in Asia), whereas Atomic Kitten's clips seemed to be restricted to Saturday morning TV appearances, and a road show.

Last week's Five/Liberty X episode felt a lot more well-rounded. It definitely seems like Five are going to be pushed as the main stars of the entire series, with their continued presence in this week's episode, and most likely next week's too.

That makes two of us (with just me thinking 'Feels So Good' is better too :P).

I think with Atomic Kitten, they were a basic, gimmick free pop group and it was such a nice thing to see at the time. All they needed was for them to be big fun personalities, with nice harmonies. That's what we got with them. They weren't pretending to be something they weren't and like I said, amongst the S Club's, Busted's, Sugababes' and Girls Aloud's... it was refreshing, well for me at least.

It's strange knowing that Liz was the one who had major problems with both Tash and Kerry at some point! Kerry's problem with Tash was just general, girly girl, jealousy stuff, so that's not surprising. Can't believer Kerry would go out of her way just to stamp on Liz's foot though :\ that was a bit cruel and harsh.

I'm not surprised we didn't see more about their success with Jenny. Especially as, I guess they didn't have anyway to end it on as, like Andi said in the episode tonight, they went out, at the top of their game. They were still successful. It's gutting that it ended the way it did though and it wasn't because the label dropped them. I felt absolutely heart broken for Tasha and her whole post-natal depression. That's got to be the worst thing in the world for any mum to go through, let alone one who was always in the limelight and had to tour and stuff.

911's story was interesting. Especially Lee! Had no idea he'd had cancer 2 times as a kid and I (before this thread) had no idea he married Lynsey from B*Witched  Shame that it ended for them after so long.

But yeah, I enjoyed tonight's episode a lot. I do agree in that the last episode was, perhaps more polished, but I found this one more interesting. Especially as I knew little about 911 and didn't realise Atomic Kitten had so much going on and how serious it all was for them! (And I thought I was a big fan of theirs )

EDIT:

Atomic Kitten on 'This Morning' (01st Feb)

It was great to see Atomic Kitten back, always loved them. Three solid pop albums. Ladies Night is one of my favourite girl group albums without a doubt, so many strong songs.
I've made an iTunes playlist of my favourite 60 or so songs from all of these acts and over half of them are by Atomic Kitten
They seem to be brushing over the fact that 5ive tried to come back about 4 years ago - and as a 4some too!
I think Ladies Night is the weakest Atomic Kitten album by far. Way too many ballads and midtempos. Lacked something that made Right Now so great!
The trio (well actually, foursome as 'Somebody Like You' is fantastic to - just not QUITE up there with the other three for me) of 'Nothing In the World' followed by 'Always Be My Baby' and then followed by 'I Won't Be There' has never failed to slay me EVERY time I've listened to the album. It's an amazing album overall though.

I totally agree, those three tracks are among my favourites on the album! Nothing In The World especially.

Ladies Night also has Everything Goes Around, Loving You and Don't Go Breaking My Heart which are also amazing ones.

(Whole Again aside, I won't deny them that)
