no bastille?!

Not on the Blog Sound list anyway, but they've still got a great chance of making it onto the BBC Sound imo

Pretty good list there, i'm hoping The Neighbourhood and Chvrches can manage a real breakthrough next year!

Nice to see pop so strongly represented.
Palma Violets will be massive. Theres an interview with radio 1s controller in MW last week and he said guitar acts will be big in 2013 - at last!
Guitar acts in 2013? I hope this doesn't mean dance is waning. I'm a 90s girl, Rave and Grunge cohabited fine!
Surprised at the BRITs snubbing Gabrielle Aplin - that's a pretty decent list, AluneGeorge to win please.

So, I'm guessing they're trying to make Laura Mvula into this 2013 Emeli Sande?

HMM, missed her off my top 15 prediction for Sound of 2013 list - but I assume she'll be top 5 in it now (I realise Critics Choice and Sound Of 2013 aren't directly related but still..)

This is the list, according to the Independent's website:

AlunaGeorge

A*M*E

Angel Haze

Arlissa

CHVRCHES

Haim

King Krule

Kodaline

Laura Mvula

Little Green Cars

Palma Violets

Peace

Savages

The Weeknd

Tom Odell

No Bastille or The Neighbourhood, WTF? A few strange choices, but not too bad overall i guess

After revealing Michael Kiwanuka as their (anti climatic) winner for 2012, it'll be interesting to see who wins this for 2013. There seems to have been no buzz over the BBC Sound of 2013 poll whatsoever.

Yeah, it has all been rather quiet, hasn't it?

I think the top 5 might go something like this...

1. Laura Mvula

2. Haim

3. Kodaline

4. AlunaGeorge

5. Tom Odell

I'm now fully expecting an AlunaGeorge win, which would not be bad at all. Laura Mvula could also be in with a shot. Those two and HAIM will make the top 3, then Tom Odell 4th and the last spot in the top 5 I get the feeling will be Angel Haze. Shocked at the lack of Bastille.

Bastille have already had a decent sized hit, surely that makes them ineligible?

Also Haim are not CAPITALISED..

I'm sure this has already been posted somewhere but the Bloggers Sound of 2013 (Which is announced on 3rd January 2013) is as follows:

AlunaGeorge - Infectious R&B influenced pop from London

Curxes - Dark industrial-pop electronic duo from Brighton and Portsmouth

CHVRCHES – Scottish electro pop trio formed from a variety of other bands

Daughter – Minimal / ambient sounding folk

Haim – Classic rock from LA with pop sensibilities

Laura Mvula – Jazz / soul singer hailing from Birmingham

– Hip soulful female vocal electronic pop from Denmark

Palma Violets – Raw and energetic indie rock band

Pins – Edgily cool and raucous all female indie band from Manchester

Randolph’s Leap – Glasgow based indie folk pop with a twist of brass

Rhye – Smooth and blissful pop duo

Savages – Intense post-punk with female vocals

Seasfire – Modern rock band from Bristol who mix electronic beats with guitars

The Neighbourhood – Atmospheric Californian 5 piece rock / pop band

Tom Odell – Piano based singer songwriter originally from Chichester

AFAIA you're only ineligible if you've had a top 20 single or album, which Bastille haven't ('Flaws' peaked at #21).

It was mentioned on the last page, I was one of the bloggers who contributed to the list!

Surprised that The 1975 didn't make the BBC List. I thought the blitz of publicity for them recently had guaranteed them a place, but evidently not. Nice to see two Irish bands on the list - expected to see Kodaline there, put Little Green Cars are a welcome inclusion.

Quite a few guitar bands there - £20 says that there'll be countless "BBC says guitars are back" news items tomorrow.

Arlissa! :D

AlunaGeorge and A*M*E are also great but more expected.

Laura Mvula and Tom Odell, along with AG, will surely do well because of the Critic's Choice award. I could also see Haim, A*M*E and The Weeknd doing well.. and I'm guessing Kodaline too.

Sound of 2013 longlist ;;

AlunaGeorge

Some very odd omissions (no Bastille, Imagine Dragons or 1975?) and wasn't expecting a push for The Weeknd. In retrospect this year's should have probably gone:

01 Frank Ocean

02 Skrillex

03 Azealia Banks

04 Stooshe

05 Michael Kiwanuka / A$AP Rocky
