December 7, 201212 yr Frankee.....easily the title holder for the worst follow-up to a #1 ever. Shame as that was actually a decent track! Wonder what she is doing now....stacking shelves in Walmart? Do - she's very popular in the Netherlands (I think if Anouk does well for them in ESC2013, she may do it 2014), I do love this track of hers: Gezza/Dasher thanks for this thread! Am reading your #2 reviews....fascinating stuff - could not put down my phone yesterday! Edited December 7, 201212 yr by StAndrews1875
December 7, 201212 yr Poor Rui Da Silva, his one big hit gave him no royalties as he had to give them all away due to an uncleared sample of a Spandau Ballet hit, and then his follow up performing so badly means I don’t think he made much from music. Actually he made quite a lot from music since the early 90's when he was in the Underground Sound Of Lisbon, "So Get Up" was huge hit in the New York house scene. He also did remixes for Jennifer Lopez, Lighthouse Family and Yoko Ono.
December 7, 201212 yr Loved this thread - Thanks for putting it together! This could go on and on though! Dappy - Rockstar #2/I'm Coming #35 I'm Coming was just a promo single as far as I'm aware, but then again, Good Intentions didn't do too well either! :P
December 7, 201212 yr I'm Coming was just a promo single as far as I'm aware, but then again, Good Intentions didn't do too well either! :P It was [And i loved it] but it would have lost the 'promo only' tag/excuse if it had been a Top 5 smash
December 8, 201212 yr Just no. I agree with everything you've just said. I would say thanks to Gezza, but I barely know any of the songs!
December 8, 201212 yr Gezza, is it too late to make a write up for the Script's "Sex Degrees Of Seperation"? :P
December 8, 201212 yr Gezza, is it too late to make a write up for the Script's "Sex Degrees Of Seperation"? :P Moral: Don't waste a perfectly good opportunity to promote (i.e Strictly Come Dancing) and perform a song which is already successful (ie. Hall of Fame). :P
December 9, 201212 yr Gezza, is it too late to make a write up for the Script's "Sex Degrees Of Seperation"? :P lol. I bet the guy from The Script wishes that could be the real song title
October 19, 201311 yr Followups to #1's we can add since this thread last ended: Daft Punk - Lose Yourself To Dance A*M*E - Heartless Robbie Williams - Different Justin Timberlake - Take Back The Night Britney Spears - Ooh La La Edited October 19, 201311 yr by Ne Plus Ultra
October 19, 201311 yr 'Take Back The Night' wasn't the follow-up to a #1 - but the actual follow-up to that #1 ('Tunnel Vision') did even worse so JT is still an example. A*M*E and Britney's #1s were both as featured artists also so not sure you can count them (although I don't remember what standard Gezza used for this thread).

I wouldn't have counted it either.
October 19, 201311 yr I wouldn't have counted it either. Except he included Beyonce's "Ego" in this thread as a "followup" to "Telephone" in here.
October 19, 201311 yr Except he included Beyonce's "Ego" in this thread as a "followup" to "Telephone" in here. Some places may credit it as duet, so Lady Gaga & Beyoncé. Personally, I've always viewed it as Beyoncé featuring on the record.
October 19, 201311 yr Some places may credit it as duet, so Lady Gaga & Beyoncé. Personally, I've always viewed it as Beyoncé featuring on the record. Same with "Scream & Shout". Look at how it's credited on the single cover: http://www.disneydreaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Britney-Spears-William-Scream-And-Shout-Single-Cover.jpg

October 20, 201311 yr Rihanna is another one, with 'Stay' reaching #4 and being a big seller, and then 'Pour It Up' peaking at #45 (Though that might change again this week).
