November 11, 201213 yr He may well fall 1-4/5 next week but after 2 weeks at the top i think he wont care much - the competition is high this week each year (4 weeks till xmas) so there was always going to be a massive amount of new entries - how fast will they fall though? Id say robbie will have sold 80k or so this week again, not bad for a 20 year old artist!
November 11, 201213 yr I think paradise wanñt play in the beginning, but I can´t tell you without a doubt. And about radio one, of course they can survive, but the are not so powerfull as they used to be.Anyways, to stop playing robbie´s lead single is quite stupid.I mean, he´s the biggest star the country has had since...George michael? Paradise got massive alist support on radio 1 - its one of the stations most played songs in the past 12 months! MLJ didnt get playlisted but gets heavy rotation still to this day!
November 11, 201213 yr really? but Coldplay´s members aren´t a lot younger than robbie! or even Pink! weird to treat a superstar like this.didnñt they play Hung Up in 2005? or Sex bomb by Tom Jones?

Maybe the still look at coldplay as being relevant to their genre whereas there are other male solo popstars who have appeared that radio 1 believe are more relevant such as olly murs for instance! Whereas coldplay are still top of their game and relevant for an indie act after their last album was a massive success!

I'm pretty sure they even played Madonna in 2008. They do play a lot of artists in their late 30s still, and they even playlisted Dr. Dre last year who's like 10 years older than Robbie.
November 11, 201213 yr o i don´t understand anything about the boicot to robbie.Who knows.I hope they play his next song though
November 11, 201213 yr I'm pretty sure they even played Madonna in 2008. I felt 4 Minutes had quite an R&B feel to it, so I think it would have reached out to radio stations who otherwise wouldn't play Madonna. Featuring two big artists at the time would have helped too, although unfortunately that doesn't work for her anymore! :(
November 11, 201213 yr Madges last single had nicki minaj on it but they ignored it too, maybe its just a case by case basis?!
November 11, 201213 yr Madges last single had nicki minaj on it but they ignored it too, maybe its just a case by case basis?! Well, there's the fact that Justin Timberlake and Timbaland were much, much bigger then than Nicki is now. Also, 4 Minutes has a hip hop/dance beat (basically the sound Nelly Furtado was doing, and also Britney on Blackout, and Justin on FutureSex/LoveSounds), Gimme All Your Luvin has some cheesy electropop beat. If Madonna had released something like 4 Minutes again, maybe they'd play her. Edited November 11, 201213 yr by Eric_Blob
November 11, 201213 yr I think Nicki was at the peak of her powers when she was on this track in feb, round the time starships was released?
November 11, 201213 yr Just looking back on the forum, and I see 4 Minutes was A-listed by Radio 1! Yeah so was the follow up too - the last albums the first time radio1 havent playlisted her i think!!
November 11, 201213 yr There weren't any #1s last year that were snubbed by R1. 'Candy' is the first such #1 since 'Start Without You' (pretty sure they did playlist 'Twilight' after it got to #1 but you could count that one as well I guess). 'Paradise' was most certainly not snubbed by Radio 1, it's probably just about their favourite song of the decade

November 11, 201213 yr Yeah, looking back again, Give It 2 Me was A-listed, and Miles Away and Celebration were B-listed. Celebration was the last time that Capital/Galaxy played Madonna aswell.

November 11, 201213 yr Celebration was the last time that Capital/Galaxy played Madonna aswell. Perhaps if Madonna had released I'm Addicted or I Don't Give A... as a single, something more dance or R&B, they may have considered play-listing her.
November 11, 201213 yr Perhaps if Madonna had released I'm Addicted or I Don't Give A... as a single, something more dance or R&B, they may have considered play-listing her. I remember with Celebration it was a remix that they played on Galaxy, so maybe she should've tried that.
November 11, 201213 yr I remember with Celebration it was a remix that they played on Galaxy, so maybe she should've tried that. Was it the Benny Benassi mix?
November 11, 201213 yr Perhaps if Madonna had released I'm Addicted or I Don't Give A... as a single, something more dance or R&B, they may have considered play-listing her. I doubt it, they pretty much base it entirely on the artist's profile. If they don't want to playlist a particular act, they won't regardless of what song they release. It's worse than ever at the moment, pretty much all acts that have been releasing for over 10 years are blacklisted and they're really hot on their "flavours of the month". I guess the only thing we can do is hope that one day they change their attitudes (or get fired and replaced with a whole new panel).
