O Holy Night - Ladywell Primary School  #17

LOL, didn't see this until now, must be another charity single.

Oh my god.

Gangnam Style is quite literally unstoppable. :o

It is, For meningitis, a 6 year old who attended the school died from it.

Oh lawd, 'Ladywell Primary School'. Wonder if this will go the way of Joining Jack 'Sacred Heart' a couple of months or so ago which got top 20 on iTunes (IIRC) but missed the entire top 100 officially?

49. All I Want for Christmas Is You (Original Version) - Mariah Carey

69. Fairytale of New York - The Pogues & Kirsty MacColl

95. Fairytale of New York (feat. Kirsty MacColl) - The Pogues

The Pogues starting to take off a bit more! I think 69 + 95 puts them ahead of Mariah combined now.

Are the xmas songs underperforming this year?

Not really - but every year there will be fewer potential sales for them...

Huh why? Because we are all becoming Jehovah Witnesses? :P

An up-coming pop group, could see them becoming the biggest pop group the UK has seen in years. Already top 20 on iTunes with no radio airplay is just incredible. Radio 1 and Capital need to get on board.

Excellent. :D (In that case, surely less tracks in general would also be purchased? :P)

What's keeping 'Gangnam Style' alive at the moment? I thought it'd be like any other 'comic' track and fall steadily, but no, it just keeps climbing at climbing. Things like Amazon offering it for 10p only and it featuring on Now 81 and Clubland only help it's case though, it'll likely climb officially next week too; with Girls Aloud and possibly Alicia Keys falling below it.
I think Gangnam Style could get to #1 in the US finally in a couple of weeks if airplay hasn't died off too much, Glee have covered it (amazingly) and the episode airs next week.
Have Glee covered it in Korean? That sounds like a mess.

Yes, but Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina) sings it, and she's Korean-American and can speak Korean so it works!

Wow, 'Tina' is such a Korean name :P

Is her character a lesbian or are they changing the lyrics? Or are they just assuming no one in America knows what the lyrics mean? :P

I don't know if the character is meant to be Korean or what, but the actress is

No, Tina's straight and AFAIK they haven't changed the lyrics :P

LOVE the Glee version as well now. But Tina's Korean is very iffy. Like I can automatically recognize that it's not very Korean like but rather a western person attempting to sing it.

Tell me about it. :(

It would be funny if it finally gets to #1 after stalling at #2 for like 2 months. That's what happened to Sexy and I Know It last year. Both songs are similar aswell (Internet phenomena, comedy dance-rap songs).

Sadly I don't think Gangnam Style will ever reach #1, unless Glee gives it a massive boost for the original song. It's airplay is virtually nothing now so it's only holding up based on streams and sales (and the fact it's down to #7 on Billboard Hot 100 isn't promising either...). :(
