February 19, 201312 yr 'You Bring Me Joy' has been relatively successful across Europe - moreso doing well in the airplay charts mostly. If the UK is represented by Amelia or Mika then it's a step in the right direction. If Diana Vickers or Laura Mitchell represent us (song pending of course) we're likely to bomb.
February 19, 201312 yr I wouldn't mind Mika representing us tbh, as he's had success in Europe. Leanne Mitchell (not Laura, Hits :P) would be the worst decision ever - she's so forgettable and has no career. :( Cascada's Glorious is the only entry I've heard so far but I can't see any other entry beating the quality of Glorious. Cascada FTW!! Edited February 19, 201312 yr by Thermometer
February 19, 201312 yr Leanne Mitchell (not Laura, Hits :P) :drama: Y'see, I can't even get the singers name correct. :(
February 19, 201312 yr Why on earth should we only enter if we send something winner-worthy? It's not like the vast majority of countries do that every year.
February 19, 201312 yr And I wouldn't judge that we'd do awfully solely on the name either. Who'd have seen an Idol 4th placer from 2004 getting the second most successful winner of all time if you based it solely on the name?
February 19, 201312 yr Yeh, I mean why can't we send something more... runner-upsy? Seemed to work fine in the 60's  No seriously... the best situation would be going into a competition trying your absolute hardest to win it, have the goods to win it... and if you do not win it, to not drown in your butthurt. Unfortunately something goes wrong there most of the while... In the meanwhile... has Anne Murray ever had hits in the UK?
February 20, 201312 yr May 18th. Excuse you? Let us not mislead people. Eurovision starts on May 14th. Eurovision Final =/= Eurovision. ~so shallow~
February 25, 201312 yr Now that Diana Vickers and Leanne Mitchell have said it isn't them - and Amelia Lily will be busy supporting 'Girls Aloud' - i've been trying to work out who it could possibly be - I've heard a few people mention Dido. She has a new song coming out called 'No Freedom', and she did an interview with Radio 2 today. Olly Murs?, or maybe a runner up from 'The Voice'..
February 25, 201312 yr A blog has written an article about the apparent UK entry, the most interesting bit being this: We will confirm this: as rumoured it is a female solo artist. But it’s not who you think it is. In fact, we’d wager that (although you will know the artist) you’d never guess in a million years. But once you get over the shock, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. We haven’t heard the song, but we’ve spoken to someone who has. Two words: power ballad. http://thekickdrum.tumblr.com/post/4399429...eurovision-news Also the twitter of the blog ESCKaz linked is saying the shock is in a better way than Engelbert was. It does match the previous rumours of quirky solo female singer... Edited February 25, 201312 yr by Ryan.
February 25, 201312 yr Power ballad... Martine McCutcheon. With her brand new song (I Was A) Victim (Of The Recession)
February 25, 201312 yr In all seriousness has anyone considered it could be Charlotte Church, her new album/ep thing was quite quirky wasn't it?
February 26, 201312 yr Charlotte Church was one of those rumoured last year, so yes, it could be her. This article that says "We will never guess in a million years", if its true, i cant think who they could be talking about, because almost every female singer that i can think of has been mentioned. Unless its somebody from outside the UK, known for power ballads? I was hoping for Diana Vickers, Amelia Lily (along those lines) - but now that it isnt, i'd be happy with Dido. What worries me is one of the more recent rumours - Bonnie Tyler. Great singer (in her time), but i'm hoping for something more current, especially after Engelbert. February 26, 201312 yr "you'd never guess in a million years" I doubt it's anyone as obvious as last year's rumoured artist.
February 26, 201312 yr I like how people are saying "I can't guess" after the post "You'll never guess in a million years". :D
February 26, 201312 yr That must surely just be made up from the reports saying our entry is "a power ballad"? She's the first name that I think of when ever I hear the words "power ballad" anyway . I dunno if I want to believe those rumours or not. Has she still got it in her? Could she give us a 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' 2.0 (Broken Down)? I'm wary. However, I think a power ballad could be what we need this year, especially after seeing Albania get top 5 last year with that terrible, "sausage rolls" song. All we would need is a good draw. Second half PLEASE.
