It was The Revelations that had the best song in 2008!

Totally agree, they were perfect for Eurovision as they were the most current with the whole Amy Winehouse/Duffy sound being big at that time.

The only good thing about Andy Abraham's track was my Michael Jackson mash up.

John Kennedy O'Connor (Author of The Eurovision Song Contest: The Official History) has tweeted:

@JohnKOConnor: So farewell then UK Eurovision secrecy. "Diana Vickers to sing for Britain" yes, that is the rumour. Any truth? If so, you read it here 1st!

Now she would be the best entrant ever! :o No chance of happening though! :kink: Apparently Diana is the name that has been circulating the blogosphere when the rumour regarding "quirky female singer" was released!

I'd be all for Diana - not that a lot of other people will

Just been reading a few Eurovision forums and this is what I've picked up:

Apparently it wasn't Pixie Lott that was signed last year - it was actually Diana until Katie Taylor (BBC person) gave her the push in favour of Engelbert. And asked whether it was coincidence that that rumour has just started circulating the poster replied that it could be like Blue as they were asked in 2010 and held off until the next year. They think for certain the two sides have been in contact about it at some point and they don't think either side are the type to burn bridges.

Also, a twitter account called "Diana Vickers News" tweeted "Just found out the best news ever re @DianaVickers, good things definitely on the horizon now!!!!" a couple of days ago, and when asked how long it was until the announcement they replied: "depends how long they wanna wait but it's done the thing they're announcing" and "it's music related, wait for the announcement". No idea how they would have got hold of any information but there we go.

Anyway, it's fun to speculate! :kink:

This Katie Taylor needs sacking ASAP if she favoured Engelbert Humperdinck in a 2012 song contest over Diana Vickers! And I'm not even a fan of Diana!
Diana's debut album was one of my favourites of 2010 and I adore her but she's incredibly marmite. I'd worry that her vocal style would put a huge chunk of the audience off. That said, something like The Boy Who Murdered Love would have made a great Eurovision entry.
Vickers? OH YES PLEASE! Give us Music To Make The Boys Cry!!! And dance. Cry and dance at the same time preferably!

I think amelia would be a great choice... but i dont think she will touch eurovision just yet... maybe next year when her career is dying... if she had a good pop song she could win.

I like Diana too but not sure if her vocal style would be good enough to win over europe/ she would have a catchy enough song.

Hopefully not Kimberley Walsh as she can't sing at all and couldn't win it with a west end number.. jade ewen with an amazing voice tried and failed that route...

but please just be a hot woman with a great voice and perfect current pop song! for once i hope the bbc just gets it right!

Jade Ewen FAILED? She got the UK a top 5 (the first since Jessica Garlick (?)) placing! That most certainly is NOT a fail... :/

That's the problem with the UK nowdays. We aren't interested/don't take notice of anything unless we actually WIN. It's stupid. Blue didn't fail either and I get a little annoyed at those who say they did, just because they were one place out of making the top 10. Under performed? Certainly (they should have got top 5 imo - and we would have done if it wasn't for the bloody jury! [/stillbitter]). I think we'd come second and no one would bat an eyelid. We're a hard country to please!

I think I'm one of the few that is glad that Englebert got rid of the claw. Vile bint should stay in the cave she's been locked in since that album bombed.
Diana's album got to #1 and has sold between 150 and 200k copies as far as I'm aware off the back of just 2 singles, it definitely didn't bomb!

Diana Vickers? OH DEAR LORD.

BUT AMELIA LILY YES PLEASE.

So...why exactly has Nicole Scherzinger's 'Boomerang' been listed as our entry on Wikipedia?!

Edit: Our Wikipedia page (United Kingdom in the Eurovision 2013).

Hmm - 2008... I guess looking back at that hideous #2 draw, I'd have picked the Revelations. Simona would've been quite the epicness as well.

...none of them would've gotten better than 19th tops though.

So...why exactly has Nicole Scherzinger's 'Boomerang' been listed as our entry on Wikipedia?!

Perhaps because any man and his highly uneducated pet chav can edit Wikipedia.

I hope Diana enters 'Boy In Paris' if it is her representing! I darn hope it is - best UK entrant since Jade Ewen!
Yeah 'Boy In Paris' was first performed live in January 2012 I think, and leaked in full soon after! Diana does still have some tracks that haven't been performed or leaked anywhere. Apparently she wrote a song called 'We Danced All Night' with the producers behind Kylie's 'Timebomb' last summer, that sounds like a good entry! :kink:
