As much as I dislike James, his performance with Nicole was one of the best of the series imo!

Some people think James has it in the bag, I'm not so sure. Jahmene is probably going into tomorrow night as the underdog, yet he's never been in bottom two but James has. Who knows, James could be the first winner to be in the bottom two?

Meh, people may be glad Chris is gone but it's still a seriously poor top 2 given that most of the acts who deserve to be there left in the first 5 weeks. I hope whoever wins flops.
FINALLY Christopher went! Like 10 weeks too late though. I think James has this tbh, but with the blatant pimping of his winner's song it'll be close with Jahmene. Certainly the hardest final to call since I've been watching by far!
James would be wasted if he was to be managed by SyCo so I'm hoping Jahmene wins. I'd be gobsmacked if James was to win now anyways - surely Jahmene is the outright favourite to win?

James is actually the favourite to win right now :o I think he can do it, and apparently he will be getting full creative control if he does win, so SyCo are making sure they don't screw him over like they have done to so many overs!

I doubt it, they said that about Matt Cardle and then gave him a Gary Barlow song.

Yeah i doubt it too. How they could have got Matt Cardle, one of the most popular contestants on the show EVER (going by voting percentages) to underperform was ridiculous . They've surely learnt their lesson to let the artists take control!

William Hill has:

4/9 James Arthur

7/4 Jahmene Douglas

So a tenner on James gives you £14.44 if he wins, and a tenner on Jahmene gives you £27.50 if he wins.

James would be the first ever winner to have finished in the bottom two before the final five wouldn't he? Could do a mini Samantha Jade I guess but I'm still thinking that Jahmene will win.

Well they still kicks start the winner's career with a cover which progresses the same each time and doesn't really fit in with their genre, so unfortunately not. :(

I really don't understand why the UK winners of X Factor have to record a cover version for their first single. Does anyone have a list of X Factor winners over the last 12 months from other countries and whether their first single was a cover or an original song?

X-Factor Italy had Chiara with Due Respiri (original)

X-Factor Denmark had Ida with I Can Be (original)

X-Factor Australia had Samantha Jade with What You've Done To Me (original)

X-Factor Germany had Mrs. Greenbird with Shooting Stars & Fairytales (original)

X-Factor Phillipines had no winner's single

X-Factor Sweden had no winner's single

That was what I could find on Wiki, so yeah no uninspired covers anywhere in the world! And even if you go to Idol, you have Phillip Phillips releasing a great folky track like Home, and on Finnish Idol you had Onko Marsissa Lunta by Diandra for the winner's song, and Amanda Fondell on Swedish Idol with All This Way (a bit X-Factor-y but still original)!

First ever winner to be bottom 2 at all!

The odds are so close that the bookies (and punters) don't have a clue who is going to win. I would think Jahmene might have the edge. I suppose it all could depend on what they perform tomorrow night. It might come down to where X Factor voters go now Christopher has left. I'd suspect Jahmene will pick up a good percentage of votes.

I don't think there's anyway James would have full creative control (and he will sign with SyCo). He just needs to work with someone who knows what they're doing. Matt Cardle flopped because at this point Simon Cowell's head was so far up Gary Barlow's arse. They gave him a Take That cast off song that would have been a B-side and hoped it would be a hit. SyCo is such a small label though, unless it has recently grown and employed more people. I think it is very clear launching Cher Lloyd, Labrinth and One Direction around the same period clearly took it's toll.

I think Leon Jackson finished in the bottom two in The X Factor semi-final in 2007, didn't he?

Also, Syco aren't a bad record company all of the time! They've probably learnt their lesson now after Little Mix's success...

Surprisingly, Leon Jackson was never in the bottom 2 and somehow polled enough votes each week right up to the final. I don't think Rhydian ever fell into the bottom 2 either.

SyCo have proved that they can create something sensational when they put all their efforts into one act (i.e. Leona Lewis in 2006/7).

Who knows, after Little Mix became the first group to win X Factor, perhaps James could become the first act to win after being in the bottom 2.

I'm still fairly certain Jahmene will win, which would be best for him/best for James/best for the show (in that he didn't finish bottom 2).

Just catching up on this:

Jahmene Douglas - Get On Up - The 'ups' were horrendous throughout, and he seemed to think that because it was the final, he should screech even more? No baby no. - 3.5/10

Christopher Maloney - What A Feeling - Worst final performance ever. Sad the judges didn't tear him to shreds, yes, it's the final but who cares? - 1.0/10

James Arthur - Feeling Good - Not his best performance for me, but still very good and miles better than the other two. He must win. - 8.0/10

Christopher Maloney - What A Feeling - Worst final performance ever. Sad the judges didn't tear him to shreds, yes, it's the final but who cares? - 1.0/10

That's a bit too high, is it not?

I'd give it a -100/10 at the very least. :kink:
