Still for him to even get there is impressive, regardless how long it lasts. Huge sales guaranteed.

Oh of course, I'm just saying it's silly to base a sales projection off his lead at this early stage. His sales could really be anything.

Jimmy Higham and Jon Walmsley are all the way back up to #25 after (I think) dropping out of the top 100!
Wow. Will and Brit now down to 0.09375 according to Livepopbars. That's very impressive for James. I didn't quite expect him to get such a commanding lead. I know he'll drop off pretty rapidly from tomorrow, but he's surely heading for around 500k? Especially when the CD single sales are counted. Good for him.
'RAAI(PIII)' didn't get sent to radio as a proper single like 'SFTTR' (the airplay it got was just a reaction to it jumping into the charts - I think that's the case anyway, correct me if I'm wrong!) I wouldn't consider it a single regardless of how well it did and 'Beneath Your Beautiful' is DEFINITELY not a single from 'OVOE', it was tacked onto the 'special edition' because she features on it and it's a hit, that doesn't make it her single when it was released to promote Labrinth's album. 'Wonder' is more of a grey area as it wasn't featured on an album before the special edition of 'Our Version Of Events' (plus the fact that Emeli sings all the vocals on it). 'Clown' is a 5th single or arguably 6th at a push, in my opinion.

Regardless of what number single it is though, it's not doing too badly considering the album is more or less a million seller and was released close to a year ago. I still had a bad feeling it'd climb to #5 or something ridiculous after her X Factor performance though and I'm glad it hasn't :P

I don't understand why people say that BYB isn't a single from OVOE. It got released at the exact same time that the deluxe version came out. It wasn't "tacked on" at the end at all. It's been the main selling point from the rerelease and is featured on all the adverts.

Because it's a Labrinth single from a Labrinth album. It's being used in the ads because it's the most recognisable song around right now with Emeli's vocals, not because it's a single specifically promoting her album.

It's a Labrinth and Emeli Sande song that is on both their albums. And I didn't understand the last bit.

James Arthur's sales won't be anywhere near 400k. His lead is massive right now because his competitors are so weak, it's hardly surprising. Little Mix were up against Coldplay last year who just did a huge performance on the same show, plus it was an inferior winner's single. And James will benefit a lot from the fact that the song is also a charity single, the benefit that previous winners didn't get.
@InaWroldsen

SO. @JamesArthur23 at nr 1 with his version of my song Impossible, and @Shontelle_Layne with her version currently at nr 13 on Itunes UK..<3

Shontelle's "version"? I thought that was her song :o

I don't think it being added in to fill space on a deluxe edition is the same thing as 'being on Emeli's album' and even if it is that doesn't make it a single FROM her album, just a single that's on her album. 'I Gotta Feeling' was on David Guetta's 'One Love' album but that doesn't make it a David Guetta single.

Ina Wroldsen is the (co-) songwriter :P

True. Also to be fair to James this final was the lowest viewing figures in years apparently. I'm sure he'll still hit 1mill though.

People are saying Beneath Your Beautiful isn't Emeli's single now but these are the same people who will probably end up saying she's had two #1's. You can't have it both ways.

Yes you can. She has two #1s, but they're not her singles.

The way I see it is it's a #1 for her in her chart history so counts, but not necessarily 'her' single.

The way I see it, it's a Labrinth single as it's originally taken from HIS album rather than her own, but as she features it still counts as a #1 for her.

(Pretty much what Silver Rocket said yeah)

Taylor Swift's past couple of singles have done extremely well worldwide. I'd say Justin Bieber is bigger than all of them. The charts really do not reflect his popularity, and Justin Bieber is more than a pop star, he's a teen idol, media figure, etc.

yeah but two hits don't make her a worldwide star, she needs at least 6 or 7 huge hits before she could start competing with Rihanna, Gaga,Katy Perry, Pink, Britney, Beyonce for the title of international superstar female of the moment...

I do agree but I just think it proves that there isn't one international female star of the moment but about 5.

We can obviously look at worldwide album sales, social media followers, media attention etc but they're all pretty massive right now so its pointless comparing [/diplomaticanswer]
