Re: Shayne Ward- the answer is all to do with dates. The week that covered Christmas ran from 18th-24th December thus getting in practically the whole pre Christmas rush to maximise sales, the following week contained no run- in to Christmas so the drop was larger than most. Other winners singles had something of the next week to sell in the run up so tended to hold up better (% wise). He was also, I recall, a very popular winner.

It also gave it only four days sales really, as the shops wouldn't have been opened fully on Sunday-Tuesday with Christmas falling on the weekend.

The first #1 of 2013 is out of:

Will.i.am feat. Britney - Scream & Shout

Rihanna - Stay

Taylor Swift - I Knew You Were Trouble

Psy - Gangnam Style (only because it's near the top 5 combined anyway)

I would love to add 'Locked Out of Heaven' to that list but I doubt it. :( And tbh, I doubt 'Stay' will get the chance to go to #1 now.

I predicted Locked Out of Heaven, but now it's looking more likely to be Scream & Shout.

I wouldn't mind Locked Out of Heaven getting #1 tbh. I like it so much more than most of Bruno's other songs, which were driving me mad a year or two ago.

Yeah I can see what you mean. I've loved all his songs at one point or another but I don't think I could listen to 'Grenade' or 'Lazy Song' for a while now. I still love 'It Will Rain', 'Runaway Baby' and 'Locked Out of Heaven' though.

183. Demi Lovato - Give Your Heart a Break (is this the highest this has been on UK iTunes?)

210. Conor Maynard - Animal

1213. Lawson - Learn To Love Again

Demi was about #160 a couple of days ago, but I don't know if that is the highest! It deserves to be #1 :(

JC back to #1 on iTunes again!

This is now the third time this week they've knocked James off iTunes #1 I believe! Can't remember the last time the #1 and #2 kept switching this often.

'Sweaty Goals' already  to #54.

It's strange how one X Factor USA performance (which only gets about 800k viewers on ITV2) can boost the song in the top 200. But, when the song was getting (limited) airplay on the music channels back in April, the song was no where to be seen on iTunes. Oh well, it's my favorite song of 2012 so I'm glad it's getting some sort of success in the UK!

S&S is def. starting to fall. It may have peaked. Dunno bout 'combined' but its now in the upper 60s when just hours ago it was in the lower 70s. A few days ago S&S seemed to be on fire but its clearly simmered down and trending downwards now. Should be very interesting and unpredictable what will be #1 now (when S&S up until yesterday was clearly looking like one of, if not the front runner) *Oh and Im obviously talking about next week.

I think Impossible will return to #1 next week, although Scream & Shout has a chance. Out of everything I'd most like Stay to be #1 next week.

 S&S is on 72% combined. More than double that of Stay!

He said nothing about Stay. He just said Scream & Shout seems to be falling and probably isn't the front-runner for next week, and I agree with that. I wouldn't rule it out, but it's not looking too likely atm.

I didn't say he did. But I pointed out S&S is selling more than double of Stay. It's the biggest gap between them all week.

S&S is probs only falling as it's relatively new and suffering from the weekend effect!

It probably means Stay is falling even faster then. :( Unless James and Justice Collective have been increasing recently, but I doubt that.

I think JC are increasing quite fast by the looks of Live PopBars.
