December 24, 201212 yr Stay almost Top 20! :cheer: Can’t say I’ve heard it that much on radio, although another big climb should be in store this week, especially with all the Christmas songs inevitably falling. Woo at Christmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End) reaching the Top 20 on TV and I never thought we’d see Mel and Kim back in any chart! Girls Aloud’s song still being played on TV, despite no release for the song being confirmed – surely it can’t be any later than January though?
December 24, 201212 yr Ah, so The Pogues not quite making #1 this year but #3 is still fantastic for a 25-year-old song :P Top 10 on TV as well! Olly must be like the most successful airplay act of recent years, it seems like all of his singles get to #1 on radio. Shocked at The Justice Collective being as low as #29 on radio, I would have expected them to be top 10! Heart have been playing it a lot.
December 24, 201212 yr The Justice Collective is only playlisted on radio 2 and a few chart plays on radio 1. Pity the Pogues didnt make no1. Funny how you compare the tv and radio airplay charts most popular xmas songs - 2 DChild xmas hits which havent really done well over here but its DC so mtv will play it more, as well as The Darkness doing well because of the fantastic video and Mel and KIm being played alot on video because theres a video for it whereas there wasnt one for the original version!!

December 25, 201212 yr Glad to see BCYLM crack the Top 40. Not that it's making much difference, the song has left the Top 300 on iTunes today!
December 25, 201212 yr How are there no Christmas songs in the second airplay chart (and why are there two different ones anyway?)
December 25, 201212 yr Its good to show you an overview of the new songs - it also fairly shows more indie songs which are on radio 1 and not dominated by capital fms rhymic pop playlists!
December 25, 201212 yr The charts are very different. It's kind of difficult to judge. Like, Kesha is #14 on the second list - but not even charting on the first. And then how can Diamonds be 16 on one chart (the one without recurrent songs) - and then 6 on the other (actually above most of the Christmas songs and all newer singles)? For example the second chart shows Different by Robbie above Diamonds. But the first shows Diamonds with well over twice the spins and a hugely superior audience.
December 25, 201212 yr Christmas week = the only time you'll see four 80s songs in the current top ten airplay chart! Love how Slade and Wizzard are almost always level pegging with each other in every chart/rundown/mention of their names in tandem in existence (apart from the one in 1973 of course where Slade slaughtered Wizzard!).
December 27, 201212 yr Then it is a stupid chart! Thanks for compliment lol! On each radio playlist from all over the world, there are 3 distinctive categories : current, recurrent and gold songs. I don't invent anything. I only count first and I don't think it's a sacrilege... It helps promotion of both current and new songs. OK, we know that Wham's "Last Christmas" and Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You" are classic Xmas songs and that they are replayed each december. It's just silly to see them appearing in every airplay chart, each and every year at same period. And IMO it's completely unfair to mention all those same Xmas songs in airplay charts all & all over again while there are so many talented but unknown artists/songs from today that deserve reconnaissance and better promotion. And also, what's the deal with counting and charting every song week after week from its release to today? It's total nonsense for me. OK, we have certain Queen, The Police, Kim Wilde, Coldplay, R.E.M. etc... songs that are continuously played as golds in many FM Stations but hey, we know that they will not be played much more than any current popular song! Only Xmas songs can be stronger because they are overplayed every december... But at the end, there is no promo impact around them. There are many official / national and very serious airplay charts that also only count current songs. Most popular examples are : Mediabase for USA, Canada... : http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2...charts/1635101/ BDS for USA, Canada : http://charts.bdsradio.com/bdsradiocharts/...spx?formatid=35 Europe also deserves that kind of chart. The charts are very different. Rihanna's "Diamonds" was uge in spins terms few weeks ago, but not anymore in many different UK stations. Main difference with that example is probably because Capital influences Nielsen's list much more than mine. They count each Capital FMs' frequency as separated stations and I count each frequency as only one station, with strong audience, practically at same level than BBC Radio 1. PS : fchd, before telling anything "stupid" and unfounded about any subject, prove you are not ignorant by telling why you think it is stupid. Edited December 29, 201212 yr by djcharly
December 28, 201212 yr I think capital has too much sway nowadays since 2010 when it went national. Soon all radio stations will be playing the same music because of bauers domination and itll be the same hits all over the world!!
December 28, 201212 yr ^ Also, Capital aren't rhythmic at all. It used to be a rhythmic station, but now it's pure pop now. Nothing rhythmic about it anymore. It hasn't playlisted many of the biggest "rhythmic" hits of the year, but is instead playing Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepsen, One Direction, etc.
Thats true but most pop songs nowadays are rhymic because of the way pop music has gone in the past decade but obv the artists mentioned above are pure pop!
December 28, 201212 yr Today, Kiss FM is rhythmic and Capital is pop, teen-pop oriented. Capital's music playlist becomes poorer week after week : only 34 current songs today, heavy rotated (sometimes 12 times a day) and several songs from same artists : 2 from Robbie Williams, Taylor Swift... Always only confirmed artists and 0% of risks. Very bad station IMO that prefers money than music...
December 28, 201212 yr Yeah they follow the crowd and take no risk whereas radio 1 at least tries to introduce new music even if imo they are slow to - hence the alisting of LB on on its re-release this month and not in april!
December 28, 201212 yr It's stupid because it excludes some of the top airplay songs of the current week. That's what an airplay chart is supposed to measure. Not having the 17th most played track at Number 5 because you invent rules to exclude the majority of the songs above it in real terms.
