EVERYONE BUY GANGNAM STYLE AGAIN (I say again since everyone with taste already owns it)
Gift card effect really does seem quite flat this year compared to the last few. The Pogues should stay top 40 easily because of it though so woo.

The Pogues won't benefit from it - who buys Xmas songs *after* Xmas?

Once was more than enough...

He's saying that because the giftcard effect doesn't seem to be having as much of an impact there will be less things overtaking FONY, not that FONY is being bought.
It makes me wonder if this years iTunes gift card effect is only going to apply mostly to the top 5 singles. Would be incredible if the top 5 sold at least 500k between them (already surpassed 400k so who knows?). It just means tracks lower down the top 75 won't be breaking any sales records set in the last 2/3 years.

A news article is on the MW site which was posted yesterday, can't promise there be any midweeks though, fingers cross there is, OCC will most likely be your friend again, that's if they bother to publish another mid report for today.

On the plus side of things at least we have 1 update for this week, I don't think there be much difference from yesterday. It seems the top 5 will hardly change, probably TJC will swap with Olly at some point.

Well the site has updated and says "Chart Covers Sales Up Until Midnight On Thursday" unfortunately there are no charts. Looks like a database error, never mind I tried. :snif:
I predict that Impossible will have sales of over 225k this week. ^_^

It's the usual Friday midweeks chart cockup by Music Week... there's still nothing there now so I doubt anything will appear today.

Actually, I'd be surprised if they *don't* - it's the lower positions that tend to benefit most!

For comparison : last year post-Xmas the #61 sold 10,141, the #75 7,999 & even the #200 2,609!

40 of the T75 had >50% sales increases!

We also had a Wednesday chart cock up I noticed earlier in the week so there was an update but the charts missed. I just hope they fix it by next Wednesday as there should be an update next week, MW staff should be back at work. But no Radio 1 chart update there is some Rock Show with Daniel P Carter. So I guess its back on the 9th at 3:30pm with Scott Mills.

The first link in the first post appears to be broken.

I'm astonished this is still charting - wasn't it supposed to be just an Xmas novelty song?

Shocked at how well James is still selling at work - Would not be shocked to see him at #1 next week too!

There were lots of his CDs at the counter in my HMV today (Scarborough). The guy at the counter was talking about the charts too! :w00t: Well, he told an old lady that James Arthur was #2 on Christmas week. :P

Wonder how much sunday and monday has affected this weeks chart? He could still collapse next week? Wonder why Mariah has collapsed whereas The Pogues are at 19, although both should fall before sunday.

BTW is the chart being played on sunday in full?

Yes, the EOY is being announced separately this year thank God. (They may have done this last year as well? Can't remember).
