Biffy Clyro - Black Chandelier - top 10 when its released on 13/1

50 Cent/Eminem/Adam Levine - My Life - should be no1 when its released 13/1.

Fenech Soler - All my Life when is this out?

Haim - Dont Save Me - should rise to the top 20 in january

Imagine Dragons - Radioactive - increasing radio 1 airplay should enable it to repeak next month

From the list above

  • Everything Everything - "Kemosabe" - "Cough Cough" was lucky to reach the T40, and deservedly so. Fans are likely to wait until the album's release the week after, so this track is unlikely to reach the T40; unless it does a The Vaccines' "Teenage Icon".
  • Biffy Clyro - "Black Chandelier" - the band's comeback doesn't seem as 'big' as the Only Revolutions era, and with the album likely to receive the bigger sales; the single could suffer. I'm predicting T20 though.
  • 50 Cent "My Life" - I think that much like many 'hits' of 2012 ("T.H.E." being my example here), the fact it's been building for so long could hinder it's performance; though saying that the lack of competition could work in it's favour. I'm going to predict T5 at worst.

Suggestions

  • Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - "Thrift Shop" - T10 in the US, and proving to be an international hit elsewhere (Canada, New Zealand, Australia), so the UK should hopefully follow suit. Sounds like the type of thing BBC Radio 1 will get behind, Fearne Cotton springs to mind (though she'll be off). Here's hoping it can be one of 2013's first big hits.
  • Sean Kingston & Cher Lloyd - "Rum & Raybans" - sounds great in the clubs and material from both is surely craved by the two respective fanbases. A strange collaboration, that works; though no word of a UK release at the moment.

I've mentioned this before in the iTunes thread: I think My Life could have a similar chart run to Otis, Clique or No Church in the Wild. As much as I would like it to, I can't see it becoming a Top 5/10 hit if hasn't done so any where else in the world.

That sean kingston and cher lloyd track sounds like something i would wake up in a cold sweat too lol. The Mackelmore song is already on itunes but i havent heard it yet.

I disagree about Biffy Clyro - i think Opposites could open at no1 on a 6 figure sales tally. Its been blisted on radio 1 since the start of december and it should enter the chart at aound no7/8 although im not as into it as their last era too.

Hopefully Nicole Scherzinger's new single can be big (if it matches up to the singles from her previous era).

I want Animal to at least get top 40 too (maybe even top 10 like Turn Around).

The fact its getting a held back release at the start of the year when the itunes gift card effect will be lower and with the names of Eminem, 50 Cent and Adam Levine means imo in the uk it should be no1.

One thing im unsure of is whether James Arthurs sales will be maintained beyond this week - he's STILL got a 20% lead on downloads but the cd sales should collapse after this weeks sales rush. He could get 3 weeks next week though which would be brillant for a XF winner - it shows he has got new fans because of the quality of the song since its release.

Then after that im unsure whether a current top 20 song could climb (still think Stay or Taylor Swift could do it, in fact it looks like I Knew You were Trouble is making a climb for no1 as we speak) or one of the new 2013 releases will enter at the top.

On paper 'My Life' should be massive. But in reality it's quite a weak lacklustre song, I can't see Capital getting behind it. I'm sure it'll still at least be top 10!

C'mon Let Me Ride and Thrift Shop to be the Gotye and Fun. of 2013

I have to disagree with you there, I can't see an album opening up with 100k in Jan. It probably be shadowed by the Brit nominees by than

I'm not sure how people are forgetting the obvious #1 contender that is Drinking From The Bottle

Would be great if Black Chandlier and (especially) Kemosabe could make the Top 40, but i'm really doubting their chances.

Amelia Lily, Vato Gonzalez, 50 Cent, Bingo Players and One Direction will all have a good chance of Top 10. As for the obvious 'soon-to-be' hits like Thrift Shop, C'mon Let Me Ride and Let Her Go will all depend on when Radio 1 playlist them, February/March seems realistic enough

If its big enough an album can sell 6 figures whenever - like adele in 2011 and emeli last year(although released more into feb), although Biffys a little different than the previous mentioned 2!

Indeed Calvin/Tinie should re-enter on sunday week and climb very high and indeed could well be a future no1!!

I am quite surprised how lacking the schedule is through January at the moment. I am positive there will be songs that come out that will be big but I wouldn't say any scream #1 as such. It will be interesting to see when songs like Thrift Shop and C'mon Let Me Ride are out? Surprised they aren't out or have impact dates in January at the moment.

I can see Let Her Go being big as well as Icona Pop (I Love It) which is shooting up the Aussie charts at the moment. I can see Imagine Dragons next single (It's Time) being big but again, doubt it will happen until Feb/March time.

Thrift Shop is actually doing well worldwide? I'm impressed. Secret guilty pleasure of mine for a while.
I really can't see Amelia going top 10 with SU(AGMWYG). Even if it does, it'll probably have an 'On A Mission'-style chart run.

Sound of 2012 Winner

Having said that January will probably be dominated by what we've already got e.g. Scream and Shout, IKYWT, Stay, Gangnam Style... just like last year lack of new releases = old hits stick around

I really hope Icona Pop are big with 'I Love It'. I can see it being either a long-running top 5 hit or a #49 "hit".
Same here, I really hope 'I Love It' can be a massive success! As long as it gets the airplay I really think it can be!

I think it could be the former as I can see Radio 1 supporting it. Its taken months but its finally taking off in Australia going 46-x-48-41-36-38-32-33-31-24-18-15-8-6-7- and its now #4 on itunes there so I can definitely being big here too.

It's be great if it could have a similar chart run to 'Titanium' in the UK but debuting in the top 10 instead - (5-4-4-2-4-3-1-1-2-4-7...)
