EVERYTHING WILL FLOW (1999)- 65 POINTS http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9d/Everythingwillflow_cd1.jpg PEAK POSITION: 24 WKS ON CHART: 2 RUN: {24}-52 HIGHEST VOTE: 9 LOWEST VOTE: 5 Personal opinion: Without question my favourite thing on "Head Music" I am heartened that Buzzjack agrees. The nearest they got to the "Coming Up" sound on the subsequent album which probably encourages my liking. "Everything Will Flow" is the third single from the album Head Music by Suede, released on 6 September 1999 on Nude Records. The opening synth line sounds very similar to that of the previous single, "She's in Fashion," but the song progresses into a jumpy ballad. It's the first single of the band's to not reach the top 20 (#24 peak) since 1995's "New Generation". The video for the title song was directed by Howard Greenhalgh, and is another big budget video by the band. Though visually appealing with water "flowing" throughout various people in the video, the band consider it a failure because they believe it resembles a television advert. iJKPP13Tqi4

Still quite pleasant on the ears nevertheless "Saturday Night" is the third single from the album Coming Up by Suede, released on January 13, 1997, on Nude Records. The single continued the success of the previous two by entering the top 10, peaking at #6 wEWn0aVcuSM

January 27, 201312 yr The remaining tracks which have made the top 10 (alphabetically) Animal Nitrate Beautiful Ones Metal Mickey New Generation So Young Stay Together The Drowners The Wild Ones Trash We Are The Pigs We'll continue tomorrow with two songs which failed to make the top 10..... New Generation and The Drowners out next please - I've always found them over rated.
January 27, 201312 yr I love both of those you mention Tony, the former in particular would be in my top 5.
January 27, 201312 yr The Drowners will always have a special place in my heart. It was one of the main signposts (maybe the first signpost) of what was to come later in the 90s. It was such a breath of fresh air.
January 27, 201312 yr The Drowners will always have a special place in my heart. It was one of the main signposts (maybe the first signpost) of what was to come later in the 90s. It was such a breath of fresh air. Exactly.
January 28, 201312 yr Metal Mickey was the one that got me into Suede, I kinda missed out on The Drowners - although I was aware of the gathering storm in the music papers. As for it being a breath of fresh air, or a sign of what was to come: hmm....it's not as if the air was fetid...Britpop's to blame for more than it is to be celebrated for I reckon. Anyway, good chart so far with the dross kept out of the top 10 (and I don't apologise at all if my low scores helped make that so!)

SO YOUNG (1993)-67 POINTS http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6c/So_young.jpg PEAK POSITION: 22 WKS ON CHART: 3 RUN: {22}-46-64 HIGHEST VOTE: 10 LOWEST VOTE: 3 Personal opinion: I didn't like this song at the time I have to confess but time has been surprisingly kind to it and I admit I was wrong to dislike it. Maybe I was expecting more along the lines of "Animal Nitrate Pt II" but there's a real touch of melancholy here that's quite endearing. "So Young" is the fourth and final single from the debut album by Suede, released on 17 May 1993 on Nude Records. It charted at number 22 on the UK singles chart, which although lower than the number 7 charted by the previous single, "Animal Nitrate", was strong nonetheless. It is the only single from the album to not feature an upbeat pop hook, which might have attributed to the lower charting. The video for the single was directed by Andy Crabb and David Lewis, who later went on to direct a series of backdrop films for Suede as well as the live tour film Introducing The Band and features children from the Kent coastal town of Whitstable. Originally intended to have no footage of the band members, a shoot was then arranged at the instigation of the record company who insisted that the band appear. twoO3xYRsz0

WE ARE THE PIGS (1994)- 69 POINTS http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7b/Suede-We-Are-The-Pigs-34831.jpg PEAK POSITION: 18 WKS ON CHART: 3 RUN: {18}-36-54 HIGHEST VOTE: 9 LOW VOTE: 5 Personal opinion: Just fantastic, though I thought initially it was a poor choice as lead single now I think it was exactly right The build at 2.50 is just gut wrenching in a good way. "We Are the Pigs" is the first single from the album Dog Man Star by Suede, released on 12 September 1994, on Nude Records. The single announced the darker tone that the band had taken for Dog Man Star, that contrasted heavily with their debut. The challenging sound on the single was not characteristic of the popular Britpop bands of the time. That along with the departure of guitarist Bernard Butler during its release, contributed to its relatively poor charting, although still managing a #18 peak. The video, directed by David and Raphael Vital-Durand, features a grim, Nineteen Eighty-Four-like setting. It was initially banned by some TV stations including MTV for being too violent. The video features car burnings, cross burnings, and various violence to humans. Also notable, the video features the video debut of new guitarist Richard Oakes. fxtIwh1Nz0k
January 28, 201312 yr Author 2 more tomorrow in the only instance where two songs got the exact same total but separated by the amounts of 10's given!
January 28, 201312 yr Two of my faves there. We Are the Pigs entered my Top 10 of all time for most of 1995. Can't believe New Generation beat it and I prefer it to The Wild Ones too. In fact, only Animal Nitrate and Stay Together (full version) are better. Edited January 28, 201312 yr by AnthonyT
January 28, 201312 yr I want to hear Stay Together (fuller version) where the brass section at the end goes on forever instead of a mere 20 seconds or so.
January 29, 201312 yr APVXWgxk5is This? That version is missing approximately a minute from the end. It's obviously been ripped from the Dog Man Star Deluxe re-issue, rather than from the CD Single.
January 29, 201312 yr In all the many gigs I have been to there have only been two occasions when the singer has visibly had to rely on a crib-sheet for the lyrics. One was Brett Anderson for the "rap" part of Stay Together and the other was Dave Couse of A House for the splendid Endless Art.

NEW GENERATION (1995)- 73 POINTS http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/41/Newgeneration_cd1.jpg PEAK POSITION: 21 WKS ON CHART: 4 RUN: {21}-24-52-75 HIGHEST VOTE: 10 (X2) LOWEST VOTE: 6 Personal opinion: I think this is rather an underrated gem, OK it's no WATP but nevertheless it still outshines most of their subsequent work which is no mean feat. "New Generation" is the third and final single from the album Dog Man Star by Suede, released on January 30, 1995, on Nude Records. It is the first single to feature music by new guitarist Richard Oakes. Though the title track is written by Anderson and departed guitarist Bernard Butler, Oakes contributes on "Together" and "Bentswood Boys". The single reached #21 in the UK hkSlV8nAuCs
