Calvin Harris has been amazing all year so he really deserves this! But I think the critics will choose Ben :(

Best British Female

Emeli Sandé THINK

Paloma Faith

Bat For Lashes

Jessie Ware

Amy Winehouse

Where is Ellie Goulding? I'm not putting a want for this category as Emeli is the best on this list by default :( To be honest I wouldn't mind Jessie Ware getting a shock win even if she only has 1 good song whereas Emeli has a few.

Best British Group

Mumford and Sons THINK

The xx

Muse WANT

One Direction

Alt-J

Muse have impressed me this year with Madness and Follow Me, but the Mumfords easily have the win.

Best Live Act

It has to be Fun, based on this year's efforts. The Killers aren't as good as the used to be :( Runaway was good, but their other singles not so much.

Frank Ocean WANT

Bruce Springsteen

Buble will win as people really love him :manson: But Frank deserves it more.

Mastercard British Album of the Year

Alt-J - An Awesome Wave

Emeli Sandé - Our Version of Events THINK

Paloma Faith - Fall To Grace

Plan B - iLL Manors

Mumford and Sons - Babel

Obviously Emeli will get it. To be honest I don't want any of them to get it, I would say Plan B because his music isn't boring, but this era has unimpressed me - the title track aside.

Best British Single

Adele - 'Skyfall'

Alex Clare - 'Too Close'

Coldplay and Rihanna - 'Princess of China'

DJ Fresh feat. Rita Ora - 'Hot Right Now'

Emeli Sandé - 'Next To Me'

Rita Ora feat. Tine Tempah - 'RIP'

Stooshe - 'Black Heart'

Florence & Calvin's Spectrum is amazing, but the teens will be voting for Olly.

Best British Breakthrough

Jake Bugg THINK

Jessie Ware

Alt-J

Ben Howard

Rita Ora WANT

Jake's got loads of hype, but Alt-J or Ben could win too - it's hard to predict.

I think she would come second out of that list. I'm thinking Emeli Sande may have a slightly less chance of winning this award than she does for Album of the Year, however still quite ahead of everyone else.

Sorry, but I actually find the fact that Ellie Goulding and Nicki Minaj haven't been nominated as a bit of a disturbance. I don't really know what the criteria is to be nominated?

Releasing decent songs.

I realise this rules out about half of those who have been nominated, but I'll take Cat Power over Nicki any day. The nomination for Winehouse is a complete joke however, and Ellie would have been just as worthy a nominee as any of the others.

It's all down to critical acclaim and sales but I bet that more people have heard of Grimes than Cat Power anyway. And I agree with you about the Winehouse nomination, completely and utterly pointless.

British Single - why is this suddenly fifteen nominees?

In about 2006 there were fewer nominees and there was a fuss about other songs selling just as many as the nominated one. Consequently they added another lot of songs but Will Young still won it with Your Game! :D

Calvin Harris deserves best male I'd say, seven top 10 hits from '18 Months'! Great era for him, and he's represented us on a worldwide scale. Not sure he'll win though, it'll be tough for him.

First time I think that they've got it pretty much spot on for the "Best British Single" award.

Well, it's not down to "them", this category is defined by the biggest selling/most played British songs of the year, they don't pick the singles themselves.

British Male Solo Artist : Sad not to see Michael Kiwanuka on it, sure it hasn't be a "success", but his album in incredible. I pick Calvin for this one but i'm not really convinced and I wouldn't mind Plan B or Ben Howard winning it.

Ben Howard

Calvin Harris

Olly Murs

Plan B

Richard Hawley

British Female Solo Artist : I'm such a loon for Amy's music, but this is a joke. It doesn't make sense at all nominating her at all, awfully embarassing for the Brits. Anyway, I want Jessie Ware winning it; but I wouldn't mind Bat For Lashes or Paloma Faith actually. No Emeli please though.

Amy Winehouse

Bat For Lashes

Emeli Sande

Jessie Ware

Paloma Faith

British Breakthrough Act : This is a tough cookie, but I will go for... Jessie Ware. Alt-J would be a close second, they're just as good but I've listened to Jessie a lot more this year.

Alt-J

Ben Howard

Jake Bugg

Jessie Ware

Rita Ora

British Group : Such a hard category again, I wouldn't mind any of those winning actually (except maybe One Direction, although I like them). But I will go for Alt J, basically cause they HAVE TO win one Brit.

Alt-J

Mumford & Sons

Muse

One Direction

The XX

British Live Act : The Vaccines, cause I love them, haha. Mumford & Sons could walk it aswell if only for their "I will wait" epic live video.

Coldplay

Mumford & Sons

Muse

The Rolling Stones

The Vaccines

British Single : Here is my 5 favourites out of the list, as I guess they will "shortlist" it before the event. I went for "Skyfall", but "Spectrum" is a close second. I can't get over "Call my name" not being in it, she was so close to make into that list and with no boyband in it she could have walked it. Oh well.

Adele - "Skyfall"

Alex Clare - "Too Close"

Florence + the Machine - "Spectrum"

Labrinth ft. Emeli Sandé - "Beneath Your Beautiful"

Robbie Williams - "Candy"

MasterCard British Album : Anything but Emeli, but she will easily win it. Alt-J, M&S or Plan B are my favs, but I will go for Alt-J.

Alt-J - An Awesome Wave

Emeli Sandé - Our Version of Events

Mumford & Sons - Babel

Paloma Faith - Fall to Grace

Plan B - iLL Manors

International Male Solo Artist : FRANK OCEAN WITHOUT THE SLIGHTEST HESITATION.

Bruce Springsteen

Frank Ocean

Gotye

Jack White

Michael Bublé

International Female Solo Artist : Tough cookie but Lana's album and reedition are the best out of this list.

Alicia Keys

Cat Power

Lana Del Rey

Rihanna

Taylor Swift

International Group : Odd choices, but I go for The Black Keys.

Alabama Shakes

The Black Keys

fun.

The Killers

The Script

The nominations are quite very good overall, but as usual they will go for the obvious "meh" winners.

In about 2006 there were fewer nominees and there was a fuss about other songs selling just as many as the nominated one. Consequently they added another lot of songs but Will Young still won it with Your Game! :D

And, how come the same fuss wasn't made about albums that sold more than those that were nominated?

As much as I want Olly to win one he probably won't get any again because everyone clearly still has a grudge against him after last year. And no one on the panel will vote for him cause they're such pretentious pro-Adele snobs.

Do I sense some bitterness in this post? :o :kink:

The Brit Awards panel usually vote for the best artists, just because you think that Olly is good, it doesn't mean that everyone else will. He should be happy and grateful that he's even nominated to be honest.

But without wishing to go off topic the criticism that was thrown at him after he performed last year really upset him - it was covered in his 'Life on Murs' documentary. I'm not being biased here but he gets more flack than anybody who's been launched from 'The X Factor'. One Direction have it easy, nothing they do gets criticized despite they fact they don't write their own songs or have any say in what they're about. Olly's actually in it for the music and yet he's written off at every turn by people who think he's not 'cool'. He's worked bloody hard this year and produced an even better album. Why shouldn't he get the recognition?
