-Emeli Sande ( she has 2 OK songs 'Next to me' and 'Heaven', but the rest is just dull, so enough shoving her down our throats everywhere Olympics, Brits, etc....) if she had come out in the 90's she would've been as non-successful as Shara Nelsen or Mica Paris...

-Rita Ora (her biggest hit sounds like a Sugababes leftover from 2004, enough said...)

-Ed Sheeran (very dull, his songs at best sound like James Blunt B-Sides)

-Conor Maynard (the British Justin Bieber??? not really- only his Ne-Yo collaboration is good, the rest is just average at best...)

Worldwide

-Beyonce (her last good song was in 2003, but she's been everywhere since, and she's married to Jay-Z hence her success... way overrated)

-Eminem (he's really talented at ruining nice hooks with his bad rapping starting with his Dido massacre and ending with 'love the way you lie' etc...)

-Flo Rida (he raps over 80's songs, where's the talent in that? it's OK if it was a novelty, but he's been around since forever and scored a zillion hits and featured on a zillion others etc...)

-Justin Bieber ( :puke2: )

-Lil' Wayne (in the US he has scored now more hits than Elvis Presley, thanks to his never ending collaborations etc...)

-Pitbull (i wonder when he has the time to record all these features, now he'll still looking for someone he hasn't collaborated with...still looking B-) )

I know i will get bashed for mentioning these artists but that's my opinion, i'm sure a lot agree...

As this is not directly do with either sales or charts it is moved to pop to continue the discussion (though it may be moved to the lounge?) :D

Olly Murs, so average (being kind) at everything. Terrible dancer. Awful vocalist. Songs for kids parties. (with the exception of HSAB)

Michael Buble, don't get it at all. He does seem nice though. He just talks. I guess it about his Charisma.

And I'm probably gonna get killed here but Adele. Not saying she doesn't have talent but the scale of it baffles me. Voice is so grating and Skyfall was an awful drone. An Oscar for that? Cmon.

Sure there's more but they are the three that came immediately to mind.

Well, as a Buble fan, I can say that you are right that is a lot thank to his charisma and charm.

Although, he is also a great vocalist - some say he can't sing, I just don't know how can they say that. Also, he covers very popular songs that probably attract wide audience.

Bit rich given that without him you wouldn't even know who Dido was. He's still capable of putting out the odd good song ("Love The Way You Lie" for instance, his last verse in particular is excellent) and at the turn of the century he was the most exciting thing in music.

Yes to Olly Murs, I never realised that something so bland could be so excruciatingly painful.

I don't dislike him, he always comes across very well but bit like Adele its the scale rather than that he sells records at all.

I was a massive Take That fan for example but I feel the same way about Robbie Williams. Awful vocalist but people seem to like HIM and he did have a certain charisma. Now hes embarrassing though. Robbie has some great songs however, that the difference between say him and OM. Definitely a case of the songs not the singer with Robbie. So in some ways he could also go into overrated based on ability.

Also re Bieber, I actually think he's underrated by lots of people. They assume he's useless because of his teenage fans etc when actually, he's quite talented. I don't mind him tbh.

I agree about that - I don't know what is his problem recently, he used to have some great songs, but Take That Crown is not a very good album. However to be honest, the only album I loved from start to finish was Sing When You're Winning, on the others there are always some songs I don't like.

About his vocals, I wouldn't say they are awful. I think he is a decent singer that knows his limitations and uses what he has very well. Don't be mad when I say this, but I think Mark Owen has far more worse vocals than Robbie.

ADELE

EMINEM

JUSTIN BEIBER

EMILE SANDE

RITA ORA

FLOW RIDA

PITBULL

TO NAME A FEW.....

Wow, I find so much in that opening post that is wrong (in my opinion) that I don't know where to start.

Please expand on how Eminem is a bad rapper and please expand on how Flo Rida raps over 80s songs when he has rapped over one of those songs.

Yes Mark Owens voice is very weak. I think the way you describe Robbie's voice is fair enough. He can sing it tune at times but is very limited. He definitely got worse. Maybe I wouldn't have been so damning a few years ago. I remember him singing with OM on XF final, truly truly awful both of them. If that wasn't two drunks doing Karaoke on a Saturday night I don't know what was. He (Robbie) has released some of my most played songs though. Supreme and Feel are great songs for me.

Re Bieber I saw him do some acoustic sessions and I quite liked his voice and was surprised how good he was. I also like some of his singles.

I suppose this will turn into the usual 'any successful artist I don't like' discussion. I for one await AlexRange's picks.
I'm sure my hatred for beyonce is well known, but everytime someone brings up this topic I WILL mention her. to me she's just ordinary, and in no way deserving of the goddess status she has. -_-

Yeah, but you can agree that she has some really good songs, can't you?

Lady GaGa.

'Just Dance', 'Poker Face' and 'Bad Romance' were TUNES but her albums sucked and so did the other singles. Style over substance at it's best.

she has a grand total of three - 'halo', 'irreplaceable' and 'end of time'. the rest range from dull as f*** to outright terrible in my opinion.

No.

I agree with Doug Beyonce has an amazing voice , but her songs are just so beige.

Beyonce is one of my favourite artists of all time, so I'm going to be biased, but she's so likeable that I don't see how anyone could hate her. But each to their own, there is one overrated Beyonce song and that song is Crazy In Love.
I hate the concept of "deserving" success. None of them deserve it.

Ha ha I like that one still, the video is great. I also like "If I were a Boy" which seems not to be very popular around these parts. I agree her material can be erratic but the woman has star quality imho
