'Boomerang' is so going to #1. I thought people were underestimating it. I know it's had little airplay, but iirc neither did 'Don't Hold Your Breath' before it got released. She obviously has quite a substantial fanbase out there, even though it's a slight mystery to me.

 

It's true that Don't Hold Your Breath didn't have that much airplay (compared to most songs that debut at #1), but I'd at least heard a few times on Radio 1 and Capital (same goes for Poison). Boomerang has not been touched at all by the latter, and probably only had a couple of plays on Radio 1.

 

Nicole was the lead singer of the 2nd biggest girl group in the world this century, so it's not that surprising she has fans. She also has X Factor in the UK.

Indeed! The difference is Nicole is likeable and can hold a tune the other was neither!

Maybe, but Morning Star missed the top 40 and Tulisa still got given the job, and Dannii hardly had the biggest pop career.

 

I'm pleased to see K Koke very high! Wasn't sure if it would make top 40. It's been a while since we had a song that sounds like Airplanes in the chart. :lol:

 

I think Bruno Mars will have the #1 this week, and Olly might climb into the top 10.

I doubt Nicole will be able to maintain this momentum, still expecting around #5 at best for 'Boomerang'. She could have a shot at #1 if sales are extremely low for #1 I guess. We haven't had any sales figures for this week after all.

 

Ugh at K Koke looking like doing quite well, I hope he follows the example of Laura Mvula and barely climbs from that #30 debut. Such a DULL song, the worst 'Airplanes' clone yet. 'Turn Back' was far, far better.

 

Good start for MS MR, would love to see them top 100. 'Fantasy' is lovely.

Such a DULL song, the worst 'Airplanes' clone yet.

 

Out of all the songs that sound like Airplanes, my least favourite are Champion by Chipmunk and I Need a Doctor.

Oh, I doubt this will go to number one, it's not even top 100 on Airplay. I know Don't Hold Your Breath went to number one but that was at least top 20 on airplay and playlisted!

I don't know. I understand why Radio 1 haven't playlisted it, but I'm a bit shocked that Capital haven't. Capital still has Don't Hold Your Breath in rotation as well (if you look at the "last 10 songs" page on Capital's website you can see they still play it).

Although it's not her best single ('Right There' is, for me :wub: ) it still sounds like an anthem. I also love it when Radio 1 have to announce a song that they haven't playlisted gets to #1 :lol: :D

I don't understand why people like that tbh. It's funny if there's major melt-downs (like when Start Without You got to #1 :lol:), but usually like with Twilight or something, they don't care. It's not like they get embarrassed about it or anything. It's not their job to predict #1s lol. The reality is there's a lot of people outside their target demographics that contribute to the singles chart. Boomerang is more of a Capital/Heart song really.
