Couldn't the two threads for the "rules of BJSC" and "veto framework" be merged into one pinned thread instead seeing as they basically explain the same thing in slightly different ways? That would sa

How about a spin off where we all send out lowest peaking DNQ

could we at least have a choice of flops to send from, instead of me being forced to send my lowest peaking one?

(mainly because I want to right the wrong that was 'Summerbreeze' being a major flop, and that was my 2nd worst performing entry)

A SERIOUS SUGGESTION - i would love to do a 'someone elses entry' contest where we get to pick any entry from another country (maybe to limit it it can only be from contests we've participated in?) to represent us, to show ones that we've loved over the last few years. i think because we all have weird faves it would come up with some REALLY interesting combinations / results. also to make it fair i think it should exclude top 5s and also only be from the era of the veto.
*Cameron sends in Brielle, yeah let's do it :P*

I think it would be an interesting concept, plus it would be one that would include everybody, rather than just giving more incentive to the veteran countries.

i think everyone knows i'd probably just send Frequency & Soulcircuit

just noticed this <3 THANK YOU

since my last suggestion was painfully ignored i'm gonna make another one.

Can we abolish the switching between voting systems please? If we had 50 songs in the final, fair play, but with 40 it's really not worth it. Either move it up in the semifinals or down in the final really. Does ANY contest EVER have different voting systems? It's bordering on UNETHICAL tbh

I don't know if this has been suggested before, but with so many entries, e.g. 70. Would it not be better to have 3 semi finals, 2x23 and 1x24 or something similar, with between 10-12 going through from each so we have a final of 30-36?
The wrong semi curse. I think it's been covered before. With 3 Semifinals there's a far bigger chance of you not qualifying due to being put into 'wrong' semi.

I wouldn't mind changing it to the 18 point system in the semis, after all 34 songs is not much less than 40/41. Might make the results from the semi a bit more indicative of the final results as well.

(would need to implement this change pretty quickly if it's going to happen tho)

To repeat what was said about a fortnight ago at the end of the last contest: We will not be making any changes to voting systems for a couple of months to allow people to get used to this one. Then we will review, everyone will have their chance to have their say, and then we will go from there.

3 semis gets a huge NO from me.

I would like to see the 18 point system in the semi finals as well though, there's 35 entries in the semis now that's not much of a difference from the 41 that are in the final.

The maths bit:

10/35 = 28.6% ;; 15/35 = 42.9%

10/41 = 24.4% ;; 15/41 = 36.6%

which in short means the percentage difference of songs you vote for from semi to final is less if both rounds use the same voting system, which proves bré's point. plus it would also be less confusing for newer members.

I must've missed that one oops soz. Gotcha~

3 semis   (wrong semi syndrome all over again)

18 voting in semis :D YES I would very much like to dish out points to over a third of the contestants! (but maybe not 15 when there are fewer contestants)

There's plenty of people wanting the equal pointing in both the semi's and the final tho.

This is probably been suggested before, or something similar has been but I'm going to make this post anyway in the hope it hasn't

What if we had themed spin-offs, like one contest would be rock themed whilst the next could be power ballads etc? Maybe even if the format was the same as the usual BJSC one where there are two semis, one semi could consist of one theme whilst the other's a contrasting one or even having four heats like BJFest, each being a different theme so there is still diversity. It would be interesting to say the least and force people to venture out of the comfort zone of their usual genre, there's nothing to say the theme has to be genre based either, it could be anything from countries to lyrics, there's a lot of possibilities

I have a suggestion. How about a spin off of 'what you would send for your 100th contest' if it was right now? Most people are off their anniversary and I am sure the track would change before then?
I actually want to build off from that...

How about a "what would you have sent if you were in a past contest" type of spin-off? I'm pretty sure we've all had that one potential we've wanted to send to one contest but it didn't fit the bill.

Mainly because if I knew this existed two years ago I would have sent in Zendaya

Great idea Lindsey!

(Although after listening to 42 power ballads I might kill myself.) BUT I do like the basics of your idea! How about a spinoff similar to BJFest where there would be different genres/themes fighting for a place in the final? There could be small group of ballad / foreign language / rock / lyrics-based / etc. entries and the participating countries would be divided into groups/assigned their theme/genre AFTER reserving a place in the contest (random.org, etc). After having the all the participants, there could be a short 'ceremony' where the topics and the groups are announced, then the countries had same days to find the perfect entry.I know that the final itself wouldn't be that special, but the entries/qualifiers would make the whole contest really interesting, noone would be really safe.

I would also love to see some countries' choices, I'm sure all of us could get into a group where we would struggle, but hey, a win/qualification with a genre you're not that familiar with would feel great! Let's face it, many countries are quite lazy to think outside the box, a contest like this would shake things up a little bit.

Yea that's pretty much exactly what I was thinking, it could also have a positive impact on the usual BuzzJack Song Contest if someone wins this spin-off with a song that was completely different to what they'd usually enter, they might think oh that type of song worked in the spin-off, maybe it will do well in the main contest

The 4 themes could always be determined before people are designated a heat/semi so they have time to look for at least one potential for each genre, so they are somewhat prepared for whatever one they're placed in ^_^

I like that idea, would be interesting to see how people respond to something a bit different for them!
