Couldn't the two threads for the "rules of BJSC" and "veto framework" be merged into one pinned thread instead seeing as they basically explain the same thing in slightly different ways? That would sa

Vülkyria would like to suggest a schlager spin-off (because it would be fun and glorious!~) and to register for a chance to host any upcoming Spin-Off contest.

How about a spin off for cover songs? Also I'd like to put my name down for hosting a spin off!

It'll be posted when I'm finally happy with it. :)

In the meantime, we're hardly crying out for new members so another couple of weeks won't hurt anyone given that we are operating on a 'you can start participating but you must sign up formerly when the new thread opens' basis right now. The original first draft was done in late 2013 and we've altered and reviewed the resources that make it up. Hence the new rules (which I have recently reformatted, and slightly reworded) and veto guidelines.

To give you all an idea of what I am doing, this is what is left to be done:

  • Add links to every post - Well over 250 in total
  • Finish the guide to participating
  • Update the format of the veto framework
  • Update of the Active countries list with links
  • Finalise the list of resources to be merged into the CRC
  • Final review of rules and guidance to ensure all is ok to go and make any updates as required
  • Create an exciting new resource that will remain a secret until the CRC is revealed
For example, the Rules have been completely reformatted and made a lot easier to read and understand. It took a while to get the layout and content right. Here is a glimpse of what it now looks like:

There is a lot of work being done on this everyday but my CIMA qualification will always take precedence. If I work hard I will only need to sit two blocks of exams, one in May and another in November. Something that would be an incredible accomplishment. That demands a lot of hard work in addition to working full time so where I would have been able to get 3hrs of coding and writing in, I'm now only getting 30mins. This is my current revision distraction and it will be up soon. I just want it to match what I have in my head.

(The Spin-off CRC will be updated and reformatted to match the main CRC sometime in May/June after my exams)

Casually bumping this.

My exams are the 20th and 22nd of May. Ie next week. My current priority is passing these hugely important exams (they are worth a good 30-50k per year of a wage increase from where I am currently) and as of 5pm on a week tomorrow full time work will begin on the CRC to have it open in time for the next contest's confirmation period.

In summary, the answer remains a no Ryan for the previously and above detailed reasons.

The only reason I mention it as a few people have now been confused by the closed thread and it's not obvious that the answer will be found in here. But seeing as it's only a couple of weeks or so now until the new thread will be open then it's not a big issue and I'm looking forward to seeing all the work that has been done!

I think I'll pass

The rate is a-comin' lad, now's the time to cow down and lick boot or MARLEY'S GHOST will run rampant!! Just worried I'll win and steal focus

Just having a look back through past threads and I'd love the Buzzjack Olympics to come back in some shape or form.
I have a few ideas of new 'events' that I'm going to run past the guys once I get back to civilisation, but I do remember discussing the Buzzjack Olympics before London 2012 (I think it was Ryan who PMd me about it?) but we decided against pushing it as it was pretty much a non-event because it wasn't interactive enough. I'd imagine it would be the same for a BJSC World Cup, but if a member is willing to take the time to run it themselves (as it's entirely decided by the host/random.org who wins each stage) then you're free to PM us with your idea/plan and we'll try to facilitate it as long as it doesn't majorly clash with other contests or events. ^_^
BJSC World Cup to add a handicap based on member's interest in football. Which means the likes of Utopia and Aquafina are the powerhouses and Unovia is basically San Marino.

I just had an idea, it may be a little too much hassle though, but I'll share it anyway.

I was thinking that we could open up a thread dedicated to the countries in the BJSC. Each country could each have one post where they can list as much information on their countries as they so wish (flag, population, language etc).

EXAMPLE:

Country: Terra di Campioni

Capital: Spill Thity

Population: 24,500,674

Language: Campionish

National Dish: Biscuits ()

Flag:

I know it's mainly cosmetic but I thought it might be a bit of fun for everyone. :D

I don't see how this does anything that National Threads don't. (if you're unaware of the idea of national threads, then here's an example of one http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=129954)

Sorry hadn't noticed that! Never mind me :kink:

i was thinking what if we do a BEST FOOT FORWARD bjsc, where countries that have participated in X (say at least 10) amount of contests can submit one of their previous entries in a fight to the death battle? maybe an entry they thought would do better now, or one they just love and wish they could submit again? i think it would be a good way of doing the 'best of' cos everyone would be submitting their faves
