April 13, 201312 yr There were a good 6 or 7 songs that were VERY close to the borderline so to actually only have three vetos (now that Girl's Day have been reinstated) seems fair imo when you see the final list.
April 13, 201312 yr Author Ohh, so that's definite then? No more veto'd will be announced? :D GD PM me pls. :P
April 13, 201312 yr I have to agree that the vetos do seem to have been a bit too strict so I'm very glad that Girl's Day has now been allowed after an appeal which I think was the correct thing to do and shows that appealing with good reasoning can work in your favour! Also, will the semi final thread be opening tonight Hits?

It's tricky trying to prep things as you just never know when something is going to change.

April 13, 201312 yr As much as Girls Day should not have been Veto'd. I don't think it should have been reinstated. I think the reaction last night was enough reaction to create any buzz.

I don't think that's fair because if it wasn't vetoed in the first place and talked about in the thread because of that, then it wouldn't have created that buzz anyway. Admittedly maybe Oricon should've appealed before listing all of his reasons in the thread, but it's all ok now! :D

Admittedly maybe Oricon should've appealed before listing all of his reasons in the thread, but it's all ok now! :D The mods have provided reasons to why it should have been veto'd though as they do with other artists. It's going to be the stand out song in the final as it's gathered the most attention through this fiasco, regardless I'm delighted for Oricon.
April 13, 201312 yr I am just happy that it's been reinstated back into the contest, although at this point my entry is probably deemed as super-cheap after the fiasco. :( Thank you to the mods who decided to accept my appeal as well!
April 13, 201312 yr Glad to hear Girl's Day have been reinstated and I fully understand that we can't go around appealing every veto'd entry, but please don't think I'm getting on at you when I do disagree with certain veto's. It's just sometimes, some of them seem completely bonkers when stuff (which are more hyped etc..) get through. Expecting Girl's Day to finish 18th Semi 1
April 13, 201312 yr Thank you to the mods who decided to accept my appeal as well! It was all four of us plus 2 GM's and Dandy that had a say.
April 13, 201312 yr I think that's probably fair, and credit to the mods for re-evaluating their decision in this situation - I don't think an appeal for myself would be wholly justified so I'll just stick with what I now have! It's sort of leaning over to indie what I have now sent, but I'm clearly not doing it to look credible or anything after sending Stockholm Syndrome, and pop doing well last time, can't be accused of following the crowd for once
April 13, 201312 yr I hope the mods don't think we're attacking them, it's not that at all. (This isn't aimed at you, just using your quote to kickstart something I've wanted to say for a while) See, that's the thing. We actually do. We get attacked for vetoing tracks and then when the semi's open we get attacked for not vetoing tracks. It is an eternal lose lose situation for us. We have no problem if you disagree with a veto decision we have made, we're only human and sometimes humans make mistakes. Especially where we are not unanimous. If you send us a nice written appeal that sums up in a non-confrontational way why you think your track should not have been vetoed then we will look into it again. I've been saying that since the start and it's taken 2.5years before someone has actually done one. That's worth repeating, this is the FIRST appeal since the contest I hosted when we brought in the whole system. This is a thankless job, seriously THANKLESS. We don't do it because we want to be lavished in thanks at every step, we do it because we love this contest and want to see it prosper. Then this happens every single month and it feels like a slap in the face. There is a reason why I'm the only moderator who hasn't thought of stepping down. It's vicious month in, month out. It doesn't matter if you don't intend it to be an attack, I'm telling you that from our point of view that's exactly what it feels like and it's taking it's toll on the moral of my co-mods and that is why I'm writing this. I'm fed up of watching what this is doing to some really amazing people. Stuff like this: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=125565 and this: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=152431 take hours to update and to plan. When you get attacked so frequently the question 'what is the point?' starts to creep into your mind. There is a reason that I still have 20+ unopened PMs about Ultimate Edition. I got so fed up of all the bitching, whining, moaning and 'can we just have the next contest now' that in spite of me trying to juggle work and do something nice to celebrate this contest turning 5, as one of the three countries to be here from the start without missing anything, I took a step back and went 'f*** you' and walked away from it. I don't quit things, I'm too stubborn for that but the constant moaning go to the point where I just didn't see the point in doing something nice anymore. I then threw myself into my temp idea because I wanted to give Martin a way to take time off that would allow him to comeback at the end if he chose to. He is a serious asset to our team who has too many commitments to spend his spare time being attacked for vetoing or not vetoing a song online. I also saw it as a great way to allow you guys to experience the veto system and see how it works from the inside while allowing us to find the best person to replace Martin should he chose to leave. After that, I could see the point in what I spend a lot of my free time doing again. Then last night happened and I just couldn't. Unusually for me I barely replied to this thread because I just couldn't phrase what I wanted to say properly. It took me like 15mins to write that post about MS MR being vetoed! This'll probably just been seen as another Silas essay and promptly ignored but I've been on the verge of writing this post every single month for the past year and I had to finally get it off my chest. To be bluntly honest I don't care if you didn't intend for your post to feel like an attack, they have felt like an attack from our point of view. I'm deliberately not pointing fingers here and I know that it's not all of you but I believe in fairness and singling out people wouldn't be fair at all. I just needed to say this and put it out there.
April 13, 201312 yr I don't think it's anyones intention to make you feel that way I can see why people get so defensive over their songs though, it's very tough to come up with new songs. I had so much time to look for songs and only found 5 possibilities It still doesn't make any bitching justified though Edited April 13, 201312 yr by *Tim DC/DU
April 13, 201312 yr It was all four of us plus 2 GM's and Dandy that had a say. I understand hence why I was grateful to all who had a say. Regards to my response last night, I will admit that it was the first time I was entirely confident in my entry sailing through the veto with ease thus I didn't think of a backup at all. More so, it did get frustrating to see your favourite of the year get vetoed hence the puzzled response I gave out. I know no matter how much reasoning I provide now, there is no point as the mods have already deemed my replies from me an attack but it was more of a question of "WHY" rather than "What kind of job are you doing" reply. Entries of mine have been previously vetoed before and I just sit and let it pass by confirming another but I thought at this occasion, it was rather unjustified hence why I decided to submit an appeal to see whether it would work or not. I apologise if I have offended any moderators as that was not my initial motive for questioning the staff regards to how well they perform their job but just to seek a reason.
April 13, 201312 yr Oh my, is it too late to change? I've literally JUST discovered GORGEOUS that I just HAVE to share! Its probably the most blatant DNQ ever, but I just want people to see this! I've sent a PM to you anyway Hits, but not worries if not, I like my current entry too :P Edited April 13, 201312 yr by Chez Wombeux

I apologise if I have offended any moderators as that was not my initial motive for questioning the staff regards to how well they perform their job but just to seek a reason. That bolded section is not true in the slightest. We don't write off every reply by people as an attack but there are posts and it can be a single one or a serious of them that do feel like attacks. Sometimes the posters 'anger' dies down and they become more reasonable and then we start to try and spell out our reasoning a lot clearer. We can see it in people's posts when their attitude hits that point where they are not going to be receptive to anything we say and then once they will again. We will happily sit and discuss why we've vetoed a track with you but we're not going to sit and waste our time debating with someone when we think it'll do nothing other than spiral into an argument. I will have all the time in the world for someone who is like: "Oh, I didn't think my track was a candidate for vetoing. Would a mod mind explaining to me why it was vetoed?" because, like I said, we don't mind you questioning us. In fact we encourage it! We're just fed up of reactions like last night where instead of being calm and open to talking about it people just go on a rather "Silas-esque" anger fuelled rampage.
