June 27, 201312 yr Author 30 Average: 8.05 (more 11s) 11s gooddelta, Mullo 10s Liam, Jonjo, FleetSeb Lowest score: 4 (Silver Rocket) Kicking off the top 30 is one of Kelly's biggest singles - 2011's Mr Know It All. Leading her 5th studio album Stronger, Mr Know It All was a slightly different sound again for Kelly, still fundamentally Kelly but with an R&B tinge and more organic and vocally raw than we previously heard. The radio friendly sound helped Mr Know It All peak at 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her ninth top 10 hit in America as well becoming her seventh top 10 hit in the UK, peaking at 4. 29 Average: 8.08 11s gooddelta 10s Toby, Marina Hurts Lowest score: 5 (Regina) Continuing our top 30 induction is the second highest Thankful track as well as the lowest of two versions of the same song! This original version of Beautiful Disaster was a country tinged track, and easily a highlight of Thankful, but was later included on Breakaway as a live recording of a piano version. 28 Average: 8.15 11s 10s Lukuzz, Griff, FleetSeb, Mullo, Marina Hurts, Lowest score: 5 (SceneOfSIXCrimes) Going back to Stronger, and the 3rd single from that album Dark Side. A self assured anthem, Dark Side is definitely a great song but was commercially a failure compared its two predecessors, only peaking at #42 in the US and becoming one of only 3 of Kelly's main singles to peak outside the top 40, whilst barely scraping the top 40 in the UK, peaking at #40. Personally, I do really like the song but in the grand scheme of things it's probably one of her weaker singles due to the high standard she's set! 27 Average: 8.22 11s 10s NickF1, Toby, Mullo Lowest score: 6 (Griff, treble clef) Another single next, this time Breakaway's 5th and final single the spunky, catchy pop/rock anthem Walk Away. Although this is easily the weakest of Breakaway's singles (the other 4 are among my all time favourites, two of them are top 5!), I often find this to be quite underrated and overlooked because of the fact it followed the likes of Behind These Hazel Eyes and Since U Been Gone. Nevertheless, although it's below its four predecessors in this countdown it is placed higher than I expect. 26 11s 10s Lukuzz, _Luke_, FleetSeb, Marina Hurts) Lowest score: 6 (Mullo, Scherz) Average: 8.29 A move away from singles now, and onto My December again with rocky album track Judas. Personally, I find this probably one of the strongest non-singles on My December, and it is a slightly angry rock track which is something Kelly does impeccably of course. I'd personally have it lower than this in the countdown but it is great.
June 27, 201312 yr All of them are probably fairly placed. Please dont tell me I Do Not Hook Up is still to come?!
June 27, 201312 yr Great to see Judas so high one of my favourite ever Kelly songs from her best album!
June 28, 201312 yr Author I'll post another lot today before I go out :D So we'll have the top 20 for the weekend. All of them are probably fairly placed. Please dont tell me I Do Not Hook Up is still to come?! It's not too far off at all :P but yes it is to come!
June 28, 201312 yr Author 25 11s 10s Liam, Toby, Marina Hurts Lowest score: 7 (Grief, treble clef, THEO., Silver Rocket) Average: 8.30 Back to singles now, onto All I Ever Wanted's 2nd single which was a relative flop as it followed the transatlantic #1 My Life Would Suck Without You. Written by Katy Perry and turned down by her for own album, this was given to Kelly who turned it into a powerful pop-rock anthem. Clearly this wasn't enough, as the single only just scraped the top 20 on the Hot 100 and peaked at #36 in the UK. 24 11s Toby, 10s treble clef, THEO. Lowest score: 6 (Mullo) Average: 8.31 Yet another single now, but right back to 2003 for Kelly's first single that charted worldwide. Miss Independent was quite different from the Kelly we came to love, being a more R&B/pop leaning track, but is still one of my pesonal highlights from Thankful. Peaking at #9 in the US, becoming her second top 10 single there, and #6 in the UK becoming her first single to chart there, Miss Independent set up Kelly's career outside of America in countries that didn't have A Moment Like This and American Idol to put her on the map. 23 Beautiful Disaster (Live) 11s 10s Liam, gooddelta, Jonjo, Toby, Marina Hurts Lowest score: 5 (Eyes) Average: 8.31 And here is the second version of the aforementioned Beautiful Disaster to chart in this countdown, the piano version which featured on Breakaway. Although the original holds its own and is fantastic anyway, this version is another level and is one of the most beautiful songs Kelly has ever recorded in my opinion. Even on such an amazing album as Breakaway, this is third only behind Because Of You and Behind These Hazel Eyes for me, and stands head and shoulders above the Thankful original. 22 11s Regina 10s Liam, Jack Average: 8.35 A very surprising inclusion to just miss out on the top 20 is Stronger bonus track Alone. The 80s-esque pop/rock anthem is definitely one of my highlights of the album and SO underrated, so I was very shocked but pleased to see it so high compared to what I expected! 21 Gone 11s 10s _Luke_, NickF1, Jonjo, Marina Hurts Lowest score: 6 (treble clef) Average: 8.39 Just missing out on the top 20 is another Breakaway track, Gone. In a similar vein to her hits Since U Been Gone and Behind These Hazel Eyes, Gone is a punchy pop/rock anthem with plenty of attitude and could just have easily been yet another hit for her.
June 28, 201312 yr 'Gone' is flawless! Perfect for her new "pop/rock" sound after the R&B/Soul sound of the first album. That version of 'Beautiful Disaster' is wonderful. One of the best live, vocal performances I have ever heard. Stunning.
June 30, 201312 yr Author 20 11s 10s Liam, Grief, gooddelta, Toby, Marina Hurts, Theo Lowest score: 6 (SceneOfSIXCrimes, Eyes) Average: 8.40 Kicking off the top 20 is the title track from Kelly's breakout album and her biggest seller by far. Released as the first US single from Breakaway as a bridge between Thankful and Breakaway, it was later released worldwide as the 4th single following Since U Been Gone, Behind These Hazel Eyes and Because Of You. A hopeful pop/rock ballad, Breakaway is not far off my personal Kelly top 10 and became a third top 10 hit for her in the US as well as peaking at #22 in the UK. 19 11s Jack, Toby 10s Liam, _Luke_, Jonjo, FleetSeb, treble clef, Scherz, Bec, THEO. Lowest score: -1 (Marina Hurts) Average: 8.47 Another single bites the dust, this time the 3rd single from All I Ever Wanted. Already Gone is often noted for its similarity to Beyonce's Halo, although both are fantastic songs in their own right. Released after I Do Not Hook Up, Already Gone fared better than it in the US, peaking at #13, but flopped in the UK only reaching #66. To date, it is Kelly's lowest peaking single in the UK despite it seemingly being a fan favourite. I expected this a lot higher to be honest, but the -1 probably hurt it :( 18 11s 10s Lukuzz, _Luke_, FleetSeb, Eyes, Marina Hurts Average: 8.52 17 11s NickF1, Regina 10s Liam, Toby, FleetSeb, Mullo, Eyes, Bec Lowest score: 4 (Grief) One of my personal favourite Kelly tracks, Never Again seems to divide fan opinion but still didn't get a score lower than a 4 here! Released as the lead single from My December, it has more bile than any other Kelly single and has an even rockier edge to it. The song peaked at #8 in the US, becoming her 7th top 10 hit and #9 in the UK, becoming her 5th top 10 hit. Even with my adoration for the track, to be honest it wasn't the best commercial move and that was proven by the quick decline of airplay and sales despite the good peaks. I will NOT tolerate hate for this gem though <3 (Warning: hate may culminate in a raise of warning level :smoke:) 16 11s Jonjo 10s FleetSeb, Eyes, Lowest score: 6 (Marina Hurts, treble clef) Next up is the second highest Stronger album track, the classic Kelly pop rock track I Forgive You. Initially rumoured as third single, this has cemented itself as one of the strongest tracks on the album and would have easily fared better than its eventual replacement Dark Side.
July 1, 201312 yr Author 15 Go 11s _Luke_, Regina 10s Lowest score: 6 (Jack) Average: 8.7 Kicking off this block is a 2006 promotional single for Ford, Go. Released before My December, this hinted at the sound to come whilst still being quite Breakaway era-esque in sound. Personally, I think this shouldn't be as high as it is, it's very good but has nothing on songs like Mr Know It All, Breakaway, Already Gone, Alone and especially Never Again/Beautiful Disaster (Live) that have come lower than this! It's an 8/10 song, but in a top 15 songs by my favourite singer of all time, I expect all 10s :P 14 11s 10s Liam, Lukuzz, Lowest score: 6 (Silver Rocket) Average: 8.70 Perhaps another surprise, this is the highest cover in this countdown! Originally performed on tour, this mash-up of Alanis Morissette and Kings Of Leon's songs was later included in studio form on 2012's second volume of Kelly's Smoakstack Sessions. Personally, I love this rendition of both tracks and it got me back into Use Somebody and especially That I Would Be Good's originals, and both tracks perfectly Kelly's voice. 13 11s Jonjo, Eyes, Scherz, THEO. 10s Liam, Jack, Toby, Mullo, Jonjo, Lowest score: -1 (Grief) Average: 8.72 (same 11s, less 10s) Another shock here - despite a plethora of top scores fan favourite and Kelly's first (and to date only) UK #1 and one of her biggest hits fails to make the top 10 here. As the lead single from her third studio album from 2009, this is absolutely classic Kelly - a catchy pop/rock anthem that worms its way into anyone's brain. This is probably mostly thanks to Griff's -1 unfortunately but nevertheless it is more of a fan favourite than most of the songs above it I'd argue and one of my favourite Kelly songs! 12 11s Liam, Jack, _Luke_, Scherz, Bec 10s gooddelta, Jonjo, FleetSeb, Mullo, Eyes Lowest score: -1 (Toby) Average: 8.72 (same 11s, more 11s) A pattern emerging here - another fan favourite with an abundance of top scores brought down by a -1 score! This was released as the second single from Kelly's 5th album Stronger and was a bit more dance-pop influenced than previous singles but nonethless fundamentally pop/rock classic Kelly and became her biggest single in the US, as well as the highest single by an Idol alumni up to that point, surpassing the likes of No Air by Jordin Sparks and Before He Cheats by Carrie Underwood, peaking at #1 and becoming her 3rd #1 single there. It also went top 10 in the UK, peaking at #8 and becoming one of her biggest selling singles there as well. 11 11s _Luke_ 10s Lukuzz, FleetSeb, Marina Hurts, treble clef Lowest score: 6 (SceneOfSIXCrimes) Average: 8.78 Just missing out on the top 10 is the highest Breakaway album track Addicted, which is only surpassed by the album's three biggest singles. A gloomy depressive rock tinged ballad, Addicted is one of the Breakaway tracks that hinted at the direction for her next album My December. Personally, I wouldn't put this quite so high but it's a great track nonetheless, I just prefer a few other tracks on the flawless Breakaway to this. -------- We now have the top 10 to come! A few teasers: - The winning song got an average of 9.55! - There are 4 album tracks to come. - There is one track from Stronger, two tracks from Chapter One, two tracks from All I Ever Wanted, two tracks from My December and three tracks from Breakaway to come. - There are 4 ballads to come. - There is 0.15 between the averages of the first and second placed songs.
July 1, 201312 yr One of only 3 acceptable Alanis covers along with Matt Cardle's Uninvited and Britney's You Oughta Know :smoke:
July 1, 201312 yr I see no redeeming features in that song. I can't even remember why I voted, I really shouldn't have. The only album track I know from her is Sober.
July 1, 201312 yr WHAT KINDA FUCKERY IS THIS CRAP!? So many songs outisde the top 10, that I thought would be comfortably top 10! :( 'Already Gone', 'My Life Would Suck Without You' (!!!), 'Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)' (!!) and (to a lesser extent) 'I Forgive You' (but I was expecting this to be slightly higher (more #9-#13-ish as opposed to it's eventual position)) MLWSWY is a pop ANTHEM. If you like pop I really don't see why you won't like this! It's just perfect. Although the two hottest pop producers, with the most incredible artist in the history of the world (may or may not be some slight hyperbole) it was always going to be WIN = WIN for me. 'Sober' or 'Since U Been Gone' for the top 2 now then please, with 'Behind These Hazel Eyes' and 'Because Of You' following (any order - not too fussed). I can't even think of what's still to come  I'm genuinely in shock the above songs didn't make it to the top 10 :\ (I think 'Behind These Hazel Eyes' will be the highest 'Breakaway' track).
July 1, 201312 yr 'Addicted' and 'Go' in the top 15? That's how I like it! (on the other hand, 'The Day We Fell Apart' should've been higher) Griff what have you done to MLWSWY? :(
July 1, 201312 yr I see no redeeming features in that song. I can't even remember why I voted, I really shouldn't have. The only album track I know from her is Sober. I see no redeeming features in you!
July 2, 201312 yr MLWSWY is definitely overrated imo glad it didn't get in the top 10. Very shocked Stronger didn't get any higher though and glad to see the amazing Addicted so high.
