How awesome would it be if Diana actually got a hit out of this song after everything

It would be amazing, but I'm just glad to finally know that there is a new single and album coming out!

I think we should all just be glad that Et Al. are finally getting a hit out of all of this!!!
Not a fan of Thatcher or her politics but this celebration of her death is disgusting. Personal feelings aside this is someone's mother/grandmother.
Its gonna be so awkward for Jameela having to explain why its back in the charts. Ha.

Why is it though?

This questions ha probably been asked a million times already

The best thing to do imo is just play the song and don't explain why its in the charts. If they explain why it's there, there's the likelihood they might offend people, plus I imagine there's probably some laws about BBC having to be politically neutral which they would risk breaking, so the safest thing to do is not say anything.

There is a precedent for this on the Chart Show. When Ian Brown went top 20 with "Illegal Attacks" in 2007, a song very critical of the circumstances around the 2nd Gulf War, its entry was preceeded by a disclaimer stating that the feelings expressed in the song are solely that of Ian Brown, and don't necessarily reflect the views of the BBC. If it does end up charting, I imagine there'll be a similar disclaimer.

Either that, or Jameel will claim its re-entry was a result of the Wizard of Oz being shown on TV this week.

I was somehow expecting this to happen actually when I saw it in the top 200 yesterday...I usually support these out of the blue hits, but this is a step too far. A death is never worth celebrating, whoever it is, and whilst I don't know a whole lot about the woman, she's certainly not evil incarnate.

From a chart point of view though, it is rather brilliant to see another random revival and to see Judy Garland challenging for a number 1 in 2013, its always the quiet weeks that throw out the biggest surprises!

G'won Passenger! Finally top 100. I am still thinking this will be a big hit. Wouldn't surprise me if it "did an 'I'm Yours'" or something.
For those of us that *were*, the 1st half of that sentence explains the 2nd... ;)

Even though i dont really know much about her she couldn't have been as evil as Adolf Hittler or Osama Bin Laden. A song like this should have been in the iTunes top 10 instead when Bin Laden died:

Actually quite disgusted and ashamed to be honest. Fair enough people didn't like or agree with Thatcher's views or actions, but the majority of people - of course not all people will be downloading the song down to her, granted - downloading that song are celebrating a death in effect... there's a family grieving for her. How would they feel if people were almost celebrating their own mother's or grandmother's death by downloading this song and revelling in her passing? Some people really are dirt and have no class.

It's embarrassing that people think this is a just way to behave and treat the death of an 87 year old lady as a celebration because she had different beliefs and a different outlook. It's kinda twisted and vile if this is labelled and passed off as humour and a laugh. It says more about the people doing the FB campaigns to get this song higher than it does Thatcher herself at the moment. They're quick to label her evil, but they're just as bad now. The message behind the song is horrible. I don't see why people would stoop so low for a 'joke'.

A mother and grandmother who almost brought the country to it's knees, did her best to make the rich richer and the poor poorer and started the ball rolling for what is happening to our country at the moment, with the NHS etc. I would not buy the record myself just because of her death, but when you are in charge of the country and you make many people's lives much worse than they were before, then I am afraid this is what happens.

THIS THIS THIS. Post of the week.

I wouldn't download the song either though.

I think they will play it, because they'll get criticism over censorship, etc. if they don't.

To many people she is though.

Even though very few people would say she was "more evil" than Bin Laden, there's a lot more people who's lives were directly affected by her actions than by Bin Laden's (in the UK atleast), so it's hardly surprising her death has provoked a bigger effect.

Sorry I thought you were talking about new labour there! As an aside whilst people are of course entitled to their opinion people buying this record are only affecting her family that are left behind and she's obviously not going to be affected by it now. I would also ask people to bear in mind that just as many people profited under her as were made poorer and no i'm not talking about just the rich either. Anyway that's probably more for perspectives.

They should play it, and be honest about why it is charting - she was a divisive figure and that is part of her legacy. We cannot promote all of the positive reaction to her death and ignore all of the negative reaction - there must be an honest balance. Anything less is unacceptable.

But I agree with the people who find this whole facade of purchasing this song in response to a death to be petty and an insult to her family.

No, I really wasn't talking about new Labour, sure they cocked things up but at least they have the right intentions, for example, with the disgusting bedroom tax at the moment. But she was the Prime Minister, she isn't just a normal granny or mother, and she still effected people's lives. As I have said I would not personally buy it, mainly because despite the founder of these horrendous ideas being dead, the ideas still live on and are still going to effect people's lives no matter if she is dead or not with Cameron at the moment, but as I have said, you reap what you sow, and I would not say that it is immoral to buy the record, when her politics could easily be argued as more immoral and effecting more people. And I disagree with your last point, of course there were exceptions, there are for everything, but in general the rich benefited and the poorest and the most vulnerable people's lives were made much worse. That is the general consensus, and is so for a reason.
