Posted April 9, 201312 yr Hello all! Behind the scenes we've been busy, not just coming up with an April Fools prank, coming up with new ideas for 2013. The first of these have already been put into play! Ryan has been tasked with running the 'Important Threads' topic and coming up with a fresh new look for '13 and we have a new 'Suggestion Box'. This is just the tip of the BJSC iceberg however! First up: BJFESTIVALEN We had a lot of fun running this and after mutual agreement that it really needed to return we have decided to make it a permanent event in BJSC. We have decided to have to host two mod run contests a year setting BJFestivalen in June and giving us two major events evenly spaced through the year. The reason this will stay moderator run is that it is too much work for a single host, our staff forum makes everything easier logistically and it's a fun way for us to say thank you for helping us make this contest great. The Calendar for this year means we will be running this along side LV and maybe LVI depending on how we work out dates but if we stick to my calendar ( :hitler: ) then we will be able to run it between LXV and LXVI in 2014. Yes, I'm planning that far ahead already. Spin-Offs//ReLOADED We have been under-utilising Spin-off contests over the past couple of years and now that we have built a very solid and reliable base it's time to start building upon it. Coming later this summer, following the completion of our Temp program, we will be relaunching Spin-off's and Reloaded! We have permission to renovate the Temp Staff Forum a turn it into a Spin-Off sub-forum. It is our aim to switch between Spin-offs and ReLOADED contests so we have about 4 of each per year. What we would like to do is use this as a stepping stone into the full contest for new members. Help them get to grips with BJSC in a more relaxed environment. We also want you guys to step up here. The Suggestions Box is where we'd like you to submit your idea's for Spin-offs and tell us that you'd like to host either a Spin-off, a ReLOADED or both! We really want to give you guys the experience of hosting and running a contest. That's why we will be using your ideas for spin-offs and are asking you to volunteer to host. When you host a spin-off you will be responsible for the theme and deciding if the entries fit the theme or not! (For example; UK #40's. Did this song actually peak at #40 in the UK Chart? If not, ditch it!) We will be on hand to provide support if you need it but it's up to you to decide dates, if you want Semi's or a 1BF and even if you're going to have a cap on entries! We'd like you to get more involved in the running of the forum so we don't end up with a gulf between the moderators and the contestants. We don't want a two-teir system in place. We, and I imagine the MGMT, will be watching you as you run your spin-off's/ReLOADED so we can start to build up an idea of who would make great moderators of not just BJSC but other area's of the forum. It's a place to show us what you are capable of! Anti-Alias Regulations Our trend has been to increase the severity of these everytime we revisit them. Not any more! We will be reducing the number of months you have to be a member of BJSC for down from 6 to 3 for those who are active members of the site! To co-incide with the relaunch of Spin-offs/ReLOADED we will be bringing in a complete overhaul of the Regulations as follows: -To participate in the Buzzjack Song Contest you need to have been a member of Buzzjack for 6 months with exception of the following: --- You may participate in Spin-Off's and the ReLOADED contests regardless of how long you've been a member here for! --- After 3 months of being a member on Buzzjack if you are deemed to be an active user of the site you will be permitted to graduate to the main contest! -Creating an alias and signing up for any BJSC related contest or activity will result in you receive a ban from Buzzjack in accordance the site's alias creation rules and a permanent ban from participating in BJSC and any BJSC related contests/activities. -If you stop being an active contributor after 3months, and before you have been here for 6 months, outside of BJSC you will be suspended for 3 months to complete the remainder of the Anti-Alias period. We want you to encourage you to become a long term member of the site as a whole rather than just coming here for BJSC (as much as we love that you're here for us) --- That's not us done for the year by any stretch of the imagination. We will continue to strive to improve this contest in every way we can! If you have any suggestions or comments not related to the above three items head to the Suggestion Box! We want to hear from you so we can all work together! If you have spin-off ideas or want to host a round of ReLOADED/Spin-Off then our Suggestion Box is also the place to go! I'd like to see greater lines of communication open up between the moderators and you guys when it comes to this contest. I commit to keeping you guys in the loop with our plans as much as I can and making sure you have your say where possible. All of this will start to take effect over the summer which gives you plenty of time to give us feedback and suggestions that we can take on board and include ahead of the June launch of BJFest. (BJSC Awards will also be coming soon.)

April 9, 201312 yr Ooh I'm glad this means the likes of Calum will be able to participate sooner rather than later. :D When reading through them I was thinking exactly the same! :lol: I love all of these changes, especially that the spin-offs/reloaded contests are going to get their own sub-forum to mean that it will be easier to run them alongside the standard contests! I was initially worried that increasing spin-offs would affect the normal contests even if not intended, but with this sub-forum I know this won't be the case!

April 9, 201312 yr Author still got NO idea what BJFestivalen is but this all looks pretty amazing It was a contest we ran using the Melodifestivalen format of 4 heats, a second chance round and a final. You could enter whatever you wanted as long as it was no longer than 3minutes! Top2 from each heat qualified to the final, 3rd and 4th ended up in second chance. The top 2 from the second chance 'duels' went into the final to make it up to 10. Was a lot of fun!
April 30, 201312 yr occurred to me today that a spinoff of songs less that 1 minute long would be FUN.

May 1, 201312 yr I have exactly 137 songs in my iTunes library that are under a minute, so I'm sure we could almost run this contest thrice over! Of course there are good songs.
