'Get Up' is definitely deserving for having the highest weekly sale of 2013, it's really different to other songs out now and also in what I've heard of Daft Punk's discography. Looks like their upcoming album will be massive too, predictions of 100k have been amount which is a great feat for a dance album.

 

First heard 'Young and Beautiful' today, another perfect Lana Del Rey song. :D I think she may have started work on a new album so I'll be looking forward to hearing any upcoming tracks.

 

'Still Into You' gets my vote for best new entry, possibly my number one this week as well as the album. I've been loving 'Hate to See Your Heart Break' recently too. :wub:

'Get Up'? :kink: I agree though about Daft Punk's track though. It's incredible how fast it's taken since its Friday release and how it's gone from selling 50k in 2 days, 155k last week and has already sold 70k so far this week. I always support the genuine big hits and it looks like 2013 has finally found it's genuine big hit. Who expected this to happen though a month ago? :D

 

I do like Lana Del Rey, ever since I discovered 'Video Games' via BJSC, I've just been captivated by Lana's vocals. I also admire her ability to create a really strong melody in her songs. It's her lowest peaking song in my chart (although some artists don't even make my top 10 with their "best" songs!!! :P ) but that's really down to only hearing late last week. I even considered holding it back a week to get a higher entry in my next chart but in the end decided to chart it this week.

 

Paramore's song is brilliant so don't let the #29 entry fool anyone. It's definitely going to climb up my chart, it's just ended up lower due to the BJSC effect and my bigger fave tracks in the UK chart right now. 'Still Into You' will, without doubt, become their biggest hit in my chart. Well, they're only other hit for me is 'Now' so :P

What were you thinking? :P Nah, I'm kidding. Everyone compiles their charts in different ways. Some prefer the low new entries climbing to their peak. For me, if a song is instant and I love it instantly then for me it's pointless to chart in at #34 then let it climb to #1 4 weeks later when my love for the song has dwindled slightly. I still adore 'Uncover' and had it not been for Daft Punk, Zara would've been looking at 4 weeks at least at #1 in my chart. Now it looks like my top 2 are gonna be static for a couple of weeks - nothing else comes close at the moment, not even MKTO.

Awesome doesn't even cover it. I don't think anyone expected this so it's very welcome. I had it on Capital FM (the music channel that is) this morning, and they've actually made their own video for 'Get Lucky' based around the SNL advert they made. I thought they did a really good job of making the music video.

As I posted above, this is actually Lana's lowest peaking single for me to date but it was down to only hearing it for the first time towards the end of last week. It's done well to get this high but there's just something I really like about Lana Del Rey. I think it'll take some doing for Lana to score another hit in my chart as big as 'Video Games' though.

I agree, but it appears the songs we like the most don't quite match up. :lol: Obviously 'We Found Love' is just solid gold, can't fault that song one bit. The perfect dance/pop song. However, 'Bounce' sounds incredibly limp - still think that now when I do hear it. 'Let's Go' was ok at best. 'Drinking From The Bottle' didn't really connect with me in a way I would've expected. Which leaves this and 'We'll Be Coming Back' as his best two singles imo. Poor FORGOTTON 'Sweet Nothing' but no surprises there, I still think it's a poor attempt at recreating 'Spectrum (Calvin Harris Remix)'. :P

'I Can' got to #10 in my chart. Eurovision 2011 didn't really live up to expectations for me in the end. 'Popular' became the biggest Eurovision hit in my chart in 2011 but it tailed off really quickly. Nothing I've heard from Eurovision 2013 so far has made me think "ooohh, that's actually brilliant" in the same way Loreen did last year.

'Get Up'? :kink: I agree though about Daft Punk's track though. It's incredible how fast it's taken since its Friday release and how it's gone from selling 50k in 2 days, 155k last week and has already sold 70k so far this week. I always support the genuine big hits and it looks like 2013 has finally found it's genuine big hit. Who expected this to happen though a month ago? :D

 

I do like Lana Del Rey, ever since I discovered 'Video Games' via BJSC, I've just been captivated by Lana's vocals. I also admire her ability to create a really strong melody in her songs. It's her lowest peaking song in my chart (although some artists don't even make my top 10 with their "best" songs!!! :P ) but that's really down to only hearing late last week. I even considered holding it back a week to get a higher entry in my next chart but in the end decided to chart it this week.

 

Paramore's song is brilliant so don't let the #29 entry fool anyone. It's definitely going to climb up my chart, it's just ended up lower due to the BJSC effect and my bigger fave tracks in the UK chart right now. 'Still Into You' will, without doubt, become their biggest hit in my chart. Well, they're only other hit for me is 'Now' so :P

Damn, that's the second time I've been picked up for that. :P No, I would never have dreamed they would receive another hit ever, never mind have a massive number one with multiple sales above 100k!

It's so rare for things like this to happen. Can't think when the last time a song was near #1 on iTunes on its first Kworb update without the aid of pre-orders. Don't even think 'We Found Love' entered as high as #2 when released.

Yes, dance music is definitely the genre of choice right now although I'd say it's been building up to this point over the last year or so. It's also refreshing in that it's not all the same type of dance music. You have Rudimental, Disclosure and Daft Punk - all their singles are so different, and this is why the dance genre has always been brilliant. It also helps that their singles are high quality, although I'm not getting into this new Disclosure feat. Eliza Doolittle track as much as I thought I would. :(

 

Well, an improvement is still an improvement nonetheless. :P In 40 singles time, Lana might crack the US Top 20. :D Such a shame 'Summertime Sadness' didn't get a UK release. It made #1 in my chart last year purely from the success it had gained in central Europe. I'd been loving the track pretty much from when I bought the 'Born To Die' album and it stood out instantly for me. Ok, the ending to 'Summertime Sadness' is a bit of an anti climax but still. :P

 

The thing about 'Still Into You' is that it has a strong resemblance to something Gwen Stefani/No Doubt would've released 8 years ago. It's definitely their most radio friendly single to date which probably explains why I like it so much. :lol:
