I don't see how Carry You's a certainty for number 1 - Union J don't feel 'big' and the song is DULL AS f***, I know thats subjective and all, but I really can't see it having that wide an appeal outside their core fanbase (although I am sure Capital will get on board, I'm hearing it more and more every day)

Obvs it still could, but I'd be very surprised if it was anything more than a one week wonder. Maybe Soundbwoy could be a #1 contender? (not sure when its released though)

Ugh, can't believe that passenger crap is still in the charts

Why do you keep saying it's 'still' in the charts as if it's been there for months? It's literally been top 40 for two weeks and top 100 for three. Most super frontloaded songs don't even disappear that quickly.

I was expecting Chris Malinchak to climb quite slowly somehow, I think he's still pretty much a lock for #2. The picture will be clearer tomorrow I guess.

Can't believe Armin Van Buuren has never even gone top 40 before despite how long he's been around, unless I'm missing something :o

Carry You just defines beige, I can barely muster enough f***s to give about the song to dislike it
As for 'Blurred Lines', I can't deny how much it's growing on me. In fact, I reckon there's a possibility of Robin Thicke knocking Daft Punk off the top. Would be quite a feat for featured vocalist Pharrell. When was the last time a featured artist appeared on two back to back UK #1 hits?

It'd certainly be something if Pharrell replaces himself at #1, especially as he'd never even had a #1 before 'Get Lucky'. Would be the first case of an artist replacing themself at #1 since Elvis in 2005. Dizzee Rascal nearly did it in 2010, if 'Shout' had been released just a week earlier...

I have a gut feeling Chris Malinchak may well peak at #3 behind Daft Punk and Rudimental. I'm still not 100% sold on 'So Good To Me' so personally would love to see 'Get Lucky' get a third week at #1 equalling 'Mirrors' as the years longest running chart toppers.

As for Armin Van Buuren, it's a shame 'In And Out Of Love' never did anything in 2009. That is an absolute choon!!!

I don't think Union J's single will be THAT big. I mean, they were in the bottom 2 in their series of X Factor 3 times, and I don't think their fanbase really is that massive, just because its a boyband and the fans like to get it noticed that they are Union J fans. I actually don't think the hype is that big. Plus the song is god awful. I can see a 3-10-19-22-43-X chart run happening tbh.

John Lennon did it in the 80s after his death.

He was last seen in the top 40 in 2000 :o It was with "Communication" which was released under the name Armin according to polyhex. Its chart run was 18-35-59-x so it's safe to say that This Is What It Feels Like will be his biggest hit to date.

Naughty Boy, Wretch 32 and Demi Lovato will all be big

To me that looks like a list of music D-listers, ok Demi is successful in america but here most people don't even know who she is

Because it annoys me that it is high in the charts when other acts I like are lower down, and some acts I like don't even chart Top 40 and we have that dribble instead.

He seemed like a nice guy in his R1 interview but I just don't care for that song.

Kinda depressing we have Malinchak going near the top this week as well

release me from this dribble haha

To be fair, 'Communication' was such a huge (and groundbreaking) trance anthem that he didn't really need to release much else for years, he kept remixing it throughout the noughties as 'Communication Part 2', 'Communication Part 3' etc. Incredible tune, not to be confused with the Mario Piu novelty mobile phone dance track released a year earlier :P

This Is What It Feels Like is just a David Guetta soundalike, so was always going to be huge no matter who released it. Doesn't deserve to outpeak Communication, but oh well :(

Chris Malinchak - So Good To Me (Radio Edit) #6

This has been moving so slugishly all day for a song that is tipped to be in the top 2.

1) The Chris Malinchak track was available on the "Ministry of Sound - The Sound of Deep House" album (album only track) for a week before release.

2) That version is 10:53 long and isn't on the EP.

It's possible a combination of the above is why it's performing relatively poorly.

Ah, I was missing something :P I searched for 'buuren' on Chartstats. Still, he's been a practical ever present in dance music so it's rather strange he's gone so long without even making the top 40. Kind of reminds me of Tiësto getting his biggest hit only a couple of years ago (and even then still not top 10).

Yeah, Tiesto and Armin are MASSIVE in the dance music scene. As much as I like C'mon, I do find it sad that Adagio For Strings is not his biggest hit when it's definitely his most remembered one. It somehow only peaked at #37 but is considered a dance classic.

I think Demi will do fairly well. Her song is getting okay promotion here, and it's looking to maybe be her biggest hit in the US.

Wretch 32, I hope can go top 10, but I'm not confident it will. This song doesn't have the hype of his previous top 10 hits, so if it does probably in the #6-#10 range. The song really isn't very mainstream at all, but that didn't seem to hurt Don't Go I suppose. Blackout isn't as summery as Don't Go though, which is a shame given the nice weather we have right now.

Naughty Boy seems to have a lot of hype though. I've heard numerous people playing the song irl. I love this song too, so I hope it's really huge. It's better than Wonder imo, and is more in the direction of Heaven and No Daddy which is great, since I prefer those types of songs from him.

I can see Naughty Boy, Stooshe and Demi all going top 10 next week (and the week after in Naughty Boy's case), but I don't know much about the Wretch 32 release.

William Orbit's much better version peaked at #4. :P

Adiago For Strings did pretty well in the charts though didn't it? I mean, it has a ridiculously low peak, but I read it was in the charts for ages (well, a long chart run for the time), and high up the year-end chart.

I'm still upset that Not Giving Up on Love wasn't a huge hit as it deserved to be. UK seems to not to get in touch with everything Sophie Ellis-Bextor produces. :(
