Cause the UK is just waking up :P

Oh and she premiered the video, eventhough that surely has no effect

I haven't even heard John's song but I think it's fair to assume it needs to beat Icona Pop. I like 'Gentleman' though.

I wouldn't mind Icona Pop getting #1 (in reality, i think it's quite likely), even though i like 'Love Me Again' slightly better

How can pre-orders appear on the singles chart?

This is a popularity chart it doesn't matter if it's a sale or an order.

But surely the pre-orders will be from the EP and will chart in the album chart?

surely it's not an EP that's why it's on the singles chart. :D

Oh right... I sounded really dumb there

Both Lawson - Brokenhearted and Robin Thicke - Blurred Lines are 1-track singles so they count towards the songs chart on iTunes. If it would have at least 2 songs than it would count towards the albums chart. I hope it's clearer now ;)

I've never understood why people pre-order singles and EPs from iTunes. It's not like iTunes are going to run out of stock on release.

Good questions. With albums I saw some promotions, like you get a song if you pre-order it, or you can get it a bit cheaper.

My sentiments entirely. And also if it's an artist you like it's always nice to keep a midnight vigil on the Saturday night to download it :) At least that's the way I view it!

Olly #21 and #72 now with 'Dear Darlin'...I think this is doing better than 'Army of Two' did after it's video premiere is it not? It took just over a week for that to break the top 20! Maybe that elusive post-album top 10 single is finally gonna happen after all!

Despite the new releases at the moment, there needs to be something bigger to overcome the songs that have been hanging around the top end of the iTunes Chart for ages now.

I still can't believe 'Army Of Two' was a single. Such an awful video and the song, while pretty good, just doesn't work as a single release.

'Dear Darlin' and 'Right Place Right Time' are so much better. Classic Olly songs.

Once again Sony are pratting around with 'Dear Darlin' as they did with 'Army of Two'...2nd June is the 'impact date', 26th June is when the EP for this will be out. Why are they doing this? I bet 'Army of Two' would have gone top 10 had they actually put the EP out the week he did all his TV and radio promo for it!

Because the label probably don't give a shit about where the single peaks :P The idea behind their strategy is probably to spread out the single's exposure for as long as possible -- which, because they probably realise the single doesn't really have a chance of challenging for the #1 spot, they probably don't care about getting a relatively low peak if it means the single hangs around on radio longer and (ideally) would sell more copies of the album in the long term.
