Daniel Rigby was really good in that episode of Black Mirror (one of the few redeeming things about that episode :( )if that's anything to go by, that would be a quite a good choice. I highly doubt they'd cast a woman, an impressive change it may be, but I think that would be far too controversial at this point. Plus, I think they'd have a hard time getting the casting right, the first female doctor would have a lot to live up to and just one false misstep in personality would result in an all out outcry.

I think this is going to be a great choice I can understand why, it's the 50th year so they probably wanted a more established actor for the role. Ill definitely tune in for this!!

I reckon he'll bring a nice bit of gravitas to the role, but it'll undoubtedly be VERY different from Matt's portrayal. Not sure how well it'll work with Clara either, I mean it'll seem a bit PERVY.

I reckon Moffat'll bin her after Series 8 once he realises that Peter and her just won't work together. Which is a shame, because she's the best NuWho companion by far. </3

I wonder if Peter Capaldi will keep his Scottish accent or will he adopt an English one. David Tennant dropped his, but Peter might not.

 

At least this gives me an excuse to re-watch Local Hero, probably Capaldi's best non-TOI performance.

I will reserve judgement until I see him as the Doctor, but I did like him in Torchwood so that's not a problem for me. The only (slight) disappointment is that the rumours were true so there was no big surprise.

To be honest I don't imagine Peter being there for more than one season. To my mind he's doing this to avoid being typecast by going for a role totally different to his most famous role (in The Thick Of It) as much as anything else.

I'd be surprised if he does more than 2 series, I see his time in the role being more like Christopher Ecclestone than David Tennant but I'm looking forward to Christmas and seeing another regeneration!!

This is the only thing that has annoyed me about Moffat in his era thus far, so if Peter delivers the role excellently, then Moffat is forgiven. :kink:
