Oh my god this series just gets worse and less and less interesting.

Amy and rory laugh at its incompetence.

I'm just saying, if he made the same posts last season, I'd have thought he was for real.

Time Heist for me was ok. Solid. Nothing bad about it but nothing great either. Except Capaldi which is basically a given. Keeley was under used too. My only quibble is why The Doctor felt the need to bring Clara along as she was basically of no real use to the mission. Vastra would have made more sense and I'm sure he could have planned that in.

Final figure for 'Listen' has now been revealed!

Time Heist · 4.93m, Final: TBA, AI: TBA

I believe next week the episode will be shown at 8:30pm, directly following Strictly Come Dancing. Could be a blessing for the ratings, but got the slight 'errr' of clashing with X Factor as well.

I doubt X Factor will hold much competition really, though personally I've been watching it live and then watching this after since the start of the series.

Continuing the strong series then (even though I don't think we've had a 10/10 episode yet)! I did like it better on reflection than whilst I was watching it so I'm not sure how to properly judge it. I liked the concept of the episode as it's not something that has really been explored before and I liked the Teller, a great idea which was a perfect fit for the episode. I don't know whether we were meant to or not but I did guess that the two supporting characters had teleported and that the Doctor was the Architect. Anyway, it was quite strong, it just lacked something for me, I wish Keeley's character was a bit more of a threat.

01. Deep Breath

02. Robots of Sherwood

03. Listen

04. Time Heist

05. Into the Dalek

(probably)

At the moment, I'm not looking forward to next week's episode. It seems like another episode where the threat/monster is sidelined and we've seen the whole thing about trying to live a normal life along with travelling with the Doctor with Amy/Rory. Also, it's the type of episode we've seen Gareth Roberts write before. But I didn't have many expectations for Robots of Sherwood and I enjoyed that!

AI for 'Time Heist' has now been added!

There's an interview with Gareth Roberts in this month's DWM and he's said the Cybermen featured too heavily in 'Closing Time' (WHERE?! WHEN?!), so they're trying to make the threat of the episode more similar to 'The Lodger'. And I'm guessing that means it will be more of a sideline considering 'The Lodger' focused more on the Doctor trying to fit in with human life. Although this time I guess it will be more a case of Danny finally discovering who the Doctor is and why Clara keeps floating in and out.

What's with the AI stuck at 82-84, even Series 7 Part 2 scored better than that :(

An article by the Daily Mirror:

Do you still allow your children to watch Doctor Who - or is it too scary and on too late for young viewers?

Too scary for kids? The latest series of Doctor Who hasn't gone down well with some parents. This is a very simple Doctor Who-based question, with very simple rules.

Answer "yes" if you think Doctor Who HAS become unsuitable for children, answer "no" if you think it IS still suitable for children.

But before you do that, here's a bit of context...

'Listen' was really scary.

Listen, the fourth episode in Doctor Who Series 8, was based on a nightmare where there is someone/something under your bed that grabs your feet. That is, admittedly, a terrifying concept for adults, let alone children.

We've all had similar nightmares, if not absolutely identical ones.

Doctor Who has been starting at 7:30pm, but now it's moving to the later time of 8:30pm, which means it won't finish until after 9pm. That's rather late if you've been running around all day causing chaos, traipsing mud through the house and refusing to eat your carrots.

But Doctor Who has always been scary... hasn't it?

Surely this is nothing new, and Doctor Who has always been terrifying - otherwise, how would the tales of "hiding behind the sofa" have started? It could be that...

Visual horror such as that caused by the Daleks and the Cybermen (and those darn Weeping Angels) is one thing, but the psychological horror of playing on childhood fears over something lurking under your bed is a very different thing.

Some parents must have FAR too much spare time on their hands. I don't know whether it's just because I'm older than I was when I first started watching the show, but I feel as if the show's been *lacking* the scare-factor lately ('Listen' aside (and basically all episodes by Moffat)) when it should be there in large dozes. And I certainly wouldn't be stopping my children from watching if they wanted to.

I think a lot of people seem (still) to be under the deranged illusion that the vibe left behind in Matt's era will continue with Capaldi, but it just can't because it's just not who the character's become (and I believe even if they tried to make him as silly as Matt, it would be an insult to what Capaldi's capable of).

Personally the only time I remember finding Doctor who actually scary was in The Stones Of Blood and The Seeds Of Doom stories. Not sure why looking back on them as an adult, and compared to other stories of the time. But certainly that early Tom Baker era was really the last time the show regularly embraced horror concepts and the show was arguably at its most popular then.

There was always a thrill and excitement when the Daleks would eventually turn up and when after nearly 10 years the Cybermen unexpectedly returned but they are used at least once a year now and the 'fear' factor has been lost with them both. They've become feeble adversaries with no cunning or real plan.

The show still has its 'scary' episodes like Blink, Listen etc but it's more like it's trying to be an adventure than scare these days.

Loving Dr Who this season. I didn't think I'd like the new actor playing The Doctor. Still he's better than Matt Smith and Christopher Eccleston.

Oh dear. I'm sure the main complaint of 'Closing Time' was that the Cybermen were underused :drama:

They weren't the real Cybermen. They were poor imitations that were defeated by a My Little Pony plot device

On paper tonight's episode sounds like a dud but pre-release reviews say otherwise. More to the point what does everyone think of Mr Pink? Persinally I quite like the idea of him but fear he could be a little annoying, especially with constant head banging/faux pas he keeps doung. And he doesn't convince as an ex-soldier... yet.

DWTV think differently - it's basically just a rehash of 'The Lodger' but with a different threat, a different Doctor and a different companion apparently.

Well... that was more of a filler, probably the worst episode of the series.

Definitely second best for me, another coherent story, great character development (even if I now have tipped 100% into HATE for PE) and just good FUN. The last 2 episodes have really picked up so much and next week looks to continue the great run of form. Capaldi really has a hang of the role now and it's fitting him perfectly.

Loved the Matt Smith jokes too.

That episode was good fun. A bit silly at times but there's nothing wrong with that. More literary references as well
