Olly's label have just announced this afternoon that they're bringing forward the release of the EP for 'Dear Darlin' to this Sunday - so not 26th June as we all previously thought!

...and there you were panicking because it was being held back to the point it'd have little impact on its chart peak. :D Kudos to the record company, a wise decision. Quite shocking when you think about it.

Anyways, looks like Naughty Boy is definitely going to be no. 1 this week. I expected the album version of 'Get Lucky' to be a lot higher than it currently is (no. 16 when I just checked) so Daft Punk will have to settle for no. 2 now. Still don't see 'La La La' sticking around and just seems like one of those "moment" songs that goes to no. 1, then in a few years from now people will look back and think "wow, I forgot that was a UK no. 1 hit". A regular theme then with the UK charts. :D

Bloody hell at Naughty Boy's lead. Assuming Daft Punk's sales haven't slumped too dramatically, it looks as though the former is on for quite a large sales week. :o

I don't think so. No one sells this much copies and then becomes forgotten in a few years.

Yes they do? Tulisa's first single sold a huge amount in its first week, but that was a total non-event in the scheme of things and is already pretty much forgotten barely a year later.

EDIT: Not saying I necessarily expect the same to happen to this song, but you can't use one week's huge sales as proof a song will become a classic, especially in this era of songs hanging around forever and first-week sales making up a very small % of most songs' lifetime totals.

True, but that only became such a massive hit because she did some sex tape which 'accidentally' leaked. You don't see Naughty Boy doing that (despite his name suggesting that he might), though he did appear on Deal Or No Deal in 2006 (and won 44K).

I feel like "La La La" is a genuinely popular single and it is likely to hang around for some time IMO.

Some people will forget it, sure, but lots of people will still be listening to it for years. All the people that love the song aren't going to stop listening to it as soon as it drops out the top 40 lol.

It depends on your life experiences as well. For example, I still hear Holiday by Dizzee Rascal every now and then. That's because I hear it on Choice FM, I go clubbing a lot and I have lots of friends that also like Dizzee. Obviously some people never go clubbing, don't listen to the same radio stations as me and don't have the same type of friends that I do, so obviously they're never going to hear that song again. Doesn't mean it's "forgotten" though, just because they never hear it. I haven't heard Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri in like forever, but I'm sure a lot of people remember it.

[36] 28| Robin Thicke (ft. T.I. & Pharell) - Blurred Lines

Wow! :o If La La La does get #1, and Blurred Lines gets there after, we'll have Get Lucky -> La La La -> Blurred Lines which would be such a good run imo! :o

Holiday is still played regularly on Radio 1 as well. And I definitely agree with your first point. One of my mates records the Big Top 40 on TV and watches it to see which "new" songs he likes this week.

La La La is having a much bigger lead than I expected it to :o I do now have a feeling that it'll stick in the charts for longer than I suggested it would yesterday, assuming Daft Punk is still going to sell 100k this week then Naughty Boy is up for massive 1st week sales which is amazing for him.

I do still want Daft Punk to stay at #1 however simply because it's a lot better and Pharrell knocking off himself from #1 next week would be amazing to see.

If you'd checked the New Release Schedule its already on there for this Sunday ;)

Not to mention Need U (100%) and Waiting All Night before those, potentially 5 great #1's in a row :o

will.i.am new song, doubt this will do well

Pffff. It's will.i.am, he can release anything and it'll do well these days

will.i.am new song, doubt this will do well

Are you sure that is being released as the next single? Or is that just a promo video. It's not on the standard edition of the album, so I doubt it would get a release. It's on the Great Gatsby soundtrack, that may explain why it's got a video.

I can see La La La selling more than 500k and it will be remembered a lot more than some other number ones this year. For everyone that doesn't like seeing Daft Punk being knocked off the top spot, look at it this way, it could have been MUCH worse. La La La is a good song!

The reason why I want Daft Punk to keep it is mainly to prevent this song getting there.

Audio Bullys beg to differ.

But seriously, I don't know. It's one of the better songs on his album imo, and it's rare, but bonus tracks have been singles before (e.g. The Motto and Super Bass). The album was better than I was expecting considering I wasn't that fond of the singles.

True. I like Let's Get Ready to Rhumble too, so that's 6 in a row for me!

I don't know if it's the next single, i was watching another music video when i saw the will.i.am one at the side of the page. It was posted today so it could be the next single.

Why is 2 Chainz/Wiz Khalifa's 'We Own It' doing so well on iTunes?

Fast & Furious 6 is the reason
