Well, it's better than Geri Halliwell, but not as good as Scissor Sisters or The Darkness (and I'm definitely in the minority with the latter). Still think it could be a bluff by Mr Grimshaw in order to drum up publicity for his most recent material, given how little attention it's received.

I'd be here for Scissor Sisters or The Darkness too (still need to check out their 3rd album, mind).

Completely agree. What a tit his PR rep is. "Career suicide"?? Is she having a laugh? He's hardly riding high on a wave of commercial success is he? Jesus christ, I'd wager that most of the more successful Eurovision entrants from most countries have outsold anything he's released in the UK. She's bloody delusional.

I really hope the UK finally manage to reach the Top 3 and/or win one day so that this perception will fade away and Eurovision will be 'cool' again. Because such attitude, which seems to become more common, is ridiculous.

Only a win would even start to change that perception sadly. Even when Jade came 5th the news stories were along the lines of 'Andrew Lloyd Webber fails to win Eurovision', 'Eurovision flop Jade Ewen'. First or bust is the way of the UK media!

@LozLong There's a really poor perception in the UK that Eurovision is about cheesy songs and leads to career suicides when it usually is the opposite. It launched several careers worldwide [uS and Austalia included]and numerous songs were hit singles everywhere. If you ask me, @AidenShaw would be perfect. His style is unique, raw and credible. With a good song he'd be huge after the contest.

I'm now genuinely excited to hear the song that they've come up with. That article has given me faith.

I'm certainly intrigued. It seems like they're taking it seriously and genuinely want to send the best singer/song combination they could get.

Well, the last time we got a 'new act' we got JOSH. Granted the song was a total nothing and if they are focusing on that then YAY, but I'm still not allowing myself to get too excited about it.
