Who's that bloke who's never heard of Kingmaker? I've heard of Kingmaker but I've never heard of him.

I think it was Brian McFadden from Westlife fame.

I love the fact they had Sean Paul on the show, and yet he's only appeared on 3 Now CD's. She Doesn't Mind made Now 82, the other two appearances are with Alexis Jordan & The Saturdays

Alexis Jordan was a featured artist on the Sean Paul song though. :P

She was. :) My big point was they ignored all his big hits & any tracks he featured on from the naughties. He was always featured on those massive R&B compilations though.

Aah, but are the Massive R&B compilations issued by EMI?

So NOW stopped True Blue getting to Number One in the album chart??

I must have dreamed those six consecutive weeks Madonna was on top with that album then......

And if she was "responsible" for creating the compilation chart, it took her a full three years to do it!!!!!!!

I agree. I believe the real reason why the comps were segregated was due to the explosion of dance compilations in the late 80s clogging up main album chart.

I have absolutely no idea to be honest, I never bought any of them.

And some of it as well, don't forget, was because they made a bit of a stink about Sony/Warner artists featuring on Now albums which were predominantly EMI/Virgin/Universal artists up until the turn of the millennium, give or take the odd huge hit (Gina G was on Warners and still made it onto Now 34 with 'Ooh Aah...')

That's why the Now albums in 2002 were severely lacking with some of the bigger hits from that year like Holly Valance's 'Kiss Kiss' or even Will and Gareth's first singles after Pop Idol. I remember at about the same time the 'Hits' albums series made a point of putting enhanced CD-Rom videos on the 2nd disc, I had Hits 53 as part of my birthday that year and it was either Will Young or Gareth Gates' video on the 2nd disc?

It's all about which record label you're on, or were on. If you were on Sony or Warner before 2006, you were screwed in terms of being on a Now album.

My first NOW! album I bought I was just 8. My last one was NOW! 37 which I got for my 14th birthday and realising there was about 10 tracks I was merely bothered about (it was a rough one!). I then started buying Ministry of Sound comps and thought I was proper cool.... Nowadays the latest NOW! albums looks pretty cool as it's full of dance tunes! Crazy!

That aside, what is everyones personal favourite NOW! album? Mine was/is 30.

My personal favourite Now album is either Now 57 or Now 81. There are so many good songs on both CDs!

Good question...oooh. Well Now 44's quite a special one because that came out when I was 10, and it was the first one I had on CD. And also it was all the songs from the end of the century that remind me of just being a kid and properly finding the music that I liked rather than stuff from my sister or my mum and dad - so basically all the feel good pop that my sisters looked down on me for liking like Britney Spears, S Club 7, Backstreet Boys, bit of Robbie and Mel C as well. And there was some really good songs on it too! I got Now 47 for Christmas the following year (and 45/46 for my birthday before that) and they were all favourites of mine too!

No, it wasn't Brian McFadden, I have heard of him. Although he may very well not have heard of Kingmaker either, at least he had some relevance. There was some bloke who looked like he'd come third in a Jimmy Ray lookalike competition. Oh, and Kingmaker are on Disc 1 (of Now 25) anyway.

My fave is 32. Maybe that's more a sign of my age though.

32 is late '95 isn't it? I prefer 31 from that year (britpop and classic dance aplenty), but 32 is a solid album.

I used to be obsessed with the Now albums and even browsed through the forums for a while - it was how I found this forum actually! Maybe I should properly get back into them. Although I practically never finish listening to the albums these days!

And yes Jester, Now 32 is the winter 1995 edition! ^_^

Yeah, I think the thing I particularly like about 32 is that it has standout tracks from a wide range of styles - there's almost a whole side of Britpop and 'Gangsta's Paradise', and 'Missing' and 'Inner City Life'. Heck, even the Simply Red song's not bad. But I do like 31 and 33 as well - some acts have better songs on those albums.
