June 7, 201313 yr OCC 'Today, we have some exciting news: we can now reveal that there has been a big change at the top, with the Reigate duo storming ahead in an overnight sales splurge, putting Settle out in front by over 2,000 copies! Will QOTSA’s …Like Clockwork have to make do with second prize? Or can they reclaim the lead and leave Disclosure ‘settling’ for runner-up? QOTSA have a loyal following, and Disclosure have been no strangers to the Official Singles Chart throughout 2013, so it’s still anyone’s for the taking.' ***** QOTSA may have a very loyal following, but it is also a very *small* one - most of whom will already have bought the album on Mon/Tue, so the idea that 'its anyone's' is ridiculous - it was all over as soon as Disclosure moved ahead.
June 7, 201313 yr Ooooh at Union missing that #1! And by a few sales too!!! Please go away -x- I just found out Disclosure hail from Surrey! Another reason why its excellent to see them doing well :D
June 7, 201313 yr I just found out Disclosure hail from Surrey! Another reason why its excellent to see them doing well :D Do you live in Surrey? :o I live in Surrey and I've been to the town where they're based a couple of times. ^_^
June 7, 201313 yr Author Aaaaah Sleeping With Sirens still in the Top 40! They NEED to hang there till Sunday!! Anyone one know how many sales they're on and how far in front of position 40 they are? Thanks. Does it look like we have sales for that part of the chart. Ooooh at Union missing that #1! And by a few sales too!!! Am I missing something here  Are The Lumineers still out of the top 40 in today's update? For the moment they are out of the top 40, but not for long someone on the Voice is performing the track tonight :D oh dear, top 20 beckons :(
June 7, 201313 yr Do you live in Surrey? :o I live in Surrey and I've been to the town where they're based a couple of times. ^_^ Well, just outside it, I'm based in Surbiton for my uni address. They're still probably the most local act to my area to be having massive success :P Edited June 7, 201313 yr by Chez Wombat
June 7, 201313 yr For the moment they are out of the top 40, but not for long someone on the Voice is performing the track tonight :D oh dear, top 20 beckons :( Ho Hey to get another 5 weeks in the top 40 thanks to The Voice, no thank you :drama: Nickelback's Rockstar spent 39 weeks top 40, hopefully The Lumineers don't beat their record :(
June 7, 201313 yr Well, just outside it, I'm based in Surbiton for my uni address. They're still probably the most local act to my area to be having massive success :P Aah, that's cool. The most local act in my area that has had massive success is Newton Faulkner.
June 7, 201313 yr For the moment they are out of the top 40, but not for long someone on the Voice is performing the track tonight :D oh dear, top 20 beckons :( You are joking? Oh ffs.
June 7, 201313 yr Where I currently live (Tilehurst, Reading) is apparently where Mike Oldfield grew up. And Bryan Adams also apparently lived here in the 60s. Star-studded town right there.
June 7, 201313 yr Author Since we are talking about famous singers coming from my area Lee Ryan went to the same school as me :( and apparently David Bowie used to live in the Medway Towns when he was a wee nipper.
June 7, 201313 yr Hmm... In music, Guildford lays claim to rock group The Stranglers, who were based in the town in the early 1970s and were briefly known as "The Guildford Stranglers". Drummer Jet Black ran an off-licence in the town and bass player Jean Jacques Burnel attended the Royal Grammar School. Progressive rock musicians Mike Rutherford, of Genesis and Andrew Latimer of the band Camel, were born in Guildford, as was jazz saxophonist Iain Ballamy. In early 21st century music, drum and bass producers Cause 4 Concern and Sub Focus are from the town. Drummer/backing vocalist of Queen, Roger Taylor, currently lives in Guildford. That's not bad for my town!
June 7, 201313 yr Didn't think Union J would stay above Daft Punk and Passenger for long. Top 3 is still looking good :) Should have some massive sales (not on the level of last week though)./
June 7, 201313 yr QOTSA may have a very loyal following, but it is also a very *small* one - most of whom will already have bought the album on Mon/Tue, so the idea that 'its anyone's' is ridiculous - it was all over as soon as Disclosure moved ahead. Small followings don't tend to propel an album to the top 2. And on that note, I'm off to buy "...Like Clockwork".
June 7, 201313 yr I'd rather she had a single in the T40... Why? There's more profit in albums. While we're talking about local pop stars, I can claim recent chart-topper Duke Dumont (from Rayners Lane) and apparently less-recent on Ian Dury was born here too. Also, Kate Nash was only 57 sales away from Number One and the bass player from No Doubt weirdly went to my primary school for a while.
June 7, 201313 yr Why? There's more profit in albums. Doesn't look good having a discography of flop singles though! :P
June 7, 201313 yr Does it look any better to have a lot of flop singles and one spending a week at 38, even to a few people who care?
June 7, 201313 yr Caro Emerald's label would definitely much prefer her singles to push her album towards platinum even if the singles themselves never do anything, rather than getting a #25 "hit" single and not shifting any albums.
