I was so hoping that 'I Love It' was going to be released, but it hasn't been. :snif:

I've just seen that Tiesto made a remix of the song, and that it's on his Club Life album which gets released next week. But i'm 99,9% sure it will be album only.

Wiley for top ten! :D

OMG @ Read All About It used again. Why do the same songs get performed over and over on these talent shows? There's thousands of songs out there, why is it always the same ones?!?!

'Read All About It' wasn't performed this time, it was just used in a montage at the end of the show. :kink:

Corr, what a dull week on both charts.

Wiley hopefully a T40 hit. Was under the impression it was just under-performing, but just found out it was album only. Taylor/Ed is the only other likely entry, with a hopeful high climber for Leah McFall and a irritating re-entry from PSY.

"I Love It" getting released now would increase its likelihood of reaching #1, just do it!

I really want to contact Icona Pop's record company which I believe is Warner Records for international releases (outside of Sweden), but their Twitter isn't that active anyway. :(

Random note but Leah McFall's single 'artwork' is just... the worst.

They've really shot themselves in the foot haven't they? Talk about messing up the release of a clearly popular track - it's as if they want the song to fail. :D It's a shame because I'm loving John Newman's track more and more with every listen so 'I Love It' is going to be completely overshadowed when it gets released (if it even gets released that is!!! :kink: ).

I just don't understand why they haven't released it when 4 tribute versions have already had to be deleted which I assume is down to the record label. So the record label can see the massive demand that there is for the track but for some reason, they are happy to hold the release back for another 3 weeks! I just hope this doesn't result in the song peaking straight away and quickly falling straight down the charts like many held-back releases.

How many weeks did 'Payphone' spend in the top 10 despite the tribute version reaching #3 on iTunes the week before the release?

Icona Pop are going to do a Sak Noel aren't they? :( Massive all over Europe for months, then get released months later in the UK when everyone is bored of the song. 'Loca People' went something like 01-03-08-etc... whereas had they released the song during the summer it could've had a steadier flow of sales and be a bigger selling single despite not topping the UK chart.

Sadly 'I Love It' might do the same without topping the UK charts anyways, but if the record company want to handle the release this way they can't grumble when the song misses #1 and drops out of the chart rather quickly.

A quick check of the points countdown thread (to be completed today!) tells me 8.

8, 6 of which were in the top 2.

I remember thinking last year that Payphone could've potentially had three separate runs at #1. I think it had two, and there were other weeks where it was only marginally behind Spectrum.

Yeah, it seemed absolutely certain to get a third separate run at #1 in its fifth week, then Florence came out of nowhere to keep it at #2 (by about 1.5k that week, but it increased its lead to 15k by the third week). Made the shock of Florence getting #1 so much better - not only was it a fantastic out of the blue #1, it also prevented Maroon 5 from getting a nearly-unique chart statistic.

Maroon 5 doing well seems to be a magnet for ~chart miracles~ what with the whole thing with Rihanna managing to stop them from getting #1 on three days' sales as well.

Yeah, I could see that happening - but I hope not! I suppose that 'Loca People' being released in late September here didn't help for what was a song that was marketed as a summer track I think. I seem to remember it being quite summery anyway. 'I Love It' is being released at the perfect time to be a massive summer smash unlike 'Loca People', but the airplay has just begun too early. Nevertheless, it is still fantastic that it has been supported and it is still likely to sell over 100,000 first week which is still brilliant even if John Newman beats them.

Oh really? :o That gives me more optimism that the tribute versions and the held-back release won't have too much of an effect then!
