March 13, 201411 yr Really?! I doubt it would now, Nasty has literally killed her career I think. I liked her before this whole mess of a campaign too! I still think she would sell out theatres tbh - I don't think she would dare to attempt arena's at the moment. I don't think 'Nasty' has killed her career - Capital have playlisted 'Nasty' and if her next single is back to pop - I'm sure Radio1 will be back on board and it could help increase the chances of having a successful campaign. I think her campaign so far has been immense, she's literally been everywhere promoting 'Nasty' despite the poor radio airplay - It's great that she's going to have her 6th top 10 hit.
March 13, 201411 yr Radio 1 aren't going to playlist her next single, they've officially dumped her now.
March 13, 201411 yr Radio 1 aren't going to playlist her next single, they've officially dumped her now. How have they officially dumped her? She's been invited to Radio1 on a weekly basis - they might not have playlisted 'Nasty' but they've played it over 8 times which is rather decent. If her next single is good enough Radio1 will go back to supporting her.
March 13, 201411 yr ^ I don't know about that. They had her in again yesterday to do a playlist and I think she's on the chart show on Sunday. I know that doesn't always equal playlisting though.
March 13, 201411 yr Loads of artists make appearances at Radio 1 who they refuse to playlist, when Radio 1 stop playlisting singles by acts it means they're not playlisting them any more no matter what they release.
March 13, 201411 yr And Nasty isn't? ermThat's what I thought  (Basically he meant GOOD pop song, but didn't want to admit it himself coz he's in full loon mode, so has to love everything she does regardless :kink:)

I wouldn't say it is great considering All About Tonight was everywhere and went to #01.
March 13, 201411 yr I wouldn't say it is great considering All About Tonight was everywhere and went to #01. 'All About Tonight' is far more generic and radio friendly than 'Nasty'. Her next single will either help her have a moderate successful album campaign or a similar campaign to 'Young Foolish And Happy'
March 13, 201411 yr Am I naive in thinking that 'Nasty' wasn't playlisted because it's shite dated and that Pixie has a fair chance of being playlisted by Radio 1 if the next single is decent? Or are there other factors at play / does Radio 1 operate differently? She is only 23 after all so I don't see how she'll just be written off for good now she's not the 'it' girl anymore.

They are very harsh, they are quick to blacklist artists and when they refuse to play one single it does actually mean they won't playlist anything else they release no matter what it is. It's odd though as they did actually playlist everything she released before this, even that single which missed the top 200. Edited March 13, 201411 yr by mr_aly
March 13, 201411 yr 'All About Tonight' is far more generic and radio friendly than 'Nasty'. Her next single will either help her have a moderate successful album campaign or a similar campaign to 'Young Foolish And Happy' Nasty is way too dated and the fact you know it is just a leftover makes it even more unappealing tbh.
March 13, 201411 yr Well, I wouldn't say 'Nasty' is a catastrophe for her. It's definitely not good but it has at the end of the day done about as well as 'What Do You Take Me For?' which while damaging to her career was certainly not a death blow. I wouldn't give up entirely on Radio 1 either, but I do think she'll need to pull out the perfect song (from a commercial point of view) for her second single to get them on board.
March 13, 201411 yr What Do You Take Me For? actually showed some progression I thought, it was not commercial in the slightest, but it showed some growth at least unlike this does.
March 13, 201411 yr Agreed, was just talking commercially tho. WDYTMF was a rather undeserved bomb :(
March 13, 201411 yr People would pay to see her on tour?! I saw her on the tour she did after Turn it Up came out, and it was honestly amazing. She managed to keep the crowd very entertained, and her voice sounded great live. However, now, her voice does sound completely different live to what it was after Turn it Up came out.
March 13, 201411 yr Radio 1 aren't going to playlist her next single, they've officially dumped her now. I have a feeling they didn't support it simply based on that they didn't like the song which is understandable as it's not as catchy as her other great songs. If Pixie has a much more radio-friendly song for the next single, I'm sure Radio 1 will playlist it. Yeah they do invite people to the studios that they will never playlist but I don't think they give them their own 1 hour special slot for them to control and play any songs they like :D
March 15, 201411 yr It recieved 1,125 plays this week which is crazy as it's matched the same amount of spins as songs in the top 20 airplay chart. Yet it isnt even top 100 :( Still shows some radio stations are still supporting her though :)
