I have already said it in the Avicii thread but I don't get the I Could Be The One hate at ALL. It was one of the songs of the year for me, and the best thing he has done so far.

I agree completely, it's brilliant and I've been obsessed with everything he's touched this year. I'd much prefer him to be the dominant chart force dance producer rather than David Guetta, to me he's far more creative.

There isn't much I Could Be The One hate to be fair  I thought it was pretty much just me until today.

Looking at the release schedule John Newman might get three weeks at #1 unless he's significantly more frontloaded than Icona Pop/Robin Thicke. Sebastian Ingrosso is out next week but I don't think he's likely to get very near #1. Nothing of note the following week at all (EDIT: actually Selena Gomez is out that week, she MIGHT challenge for #1 if sales have dipped a bit by then). One Direction will sadly probably romp to #1 the week after that though...

I'm not a fan of 'I Could Be The One' but 'Wake Me Up' is epic and I will be championing it on release week.
Realistically I would rather see John Newman at least 2 weeks at #1 before the Avicii track drops. I must admit I do prefer Wake Me Up over I Could Be The One, it could also be in with a chance to end up in the top 5 year to date chart, if the track stays at #1 for a few weeks.

Which one? Both could end up top 5 :P. John Newman, saving top 40 music (almost) single-handedly (along with Ho Hey). ANd Avicii is scorchinnn!

There's no chance that Selena Gomez will be challenging for number one, her pre-orders have been quite low to say the least, I think she'll peak at around #05.

She might do a Selena Gomez and get to #3 though (though airplay's been crap so I doubt she'll have as big a hit as Selena, look at the Sats and their crap airplay!)

How many Mumford songs did you say people knew Charlie? :P Hopefully 'I Will Wait' could potentially return to the top 40 again with 3 versions top 200, one approaching the iTunes top 40.

They're going over Glasto highlights now on bbc2. Apparently they are meant to be showing John Newman which should boost him a bit.

49. I Will Wait - Mumford & Sons

61. Little Lion Man - Mumford & Sons

'The Cave' not top 100 yet - seems 'Little Lion Man' is definitely the more 'classic' (for want of a better word) of the 2 despite its lower peak.

It actually did peak higher (24 over 31), but I think The Cave has had a longer chart run, I think I preferred that initially, but its not aged very well in comparison to Little Lion Man. Winter Winds beats them both though

Oh I knew that. *chart fail* I did mean shorter chart run (although it's had more weeks in the top 100 than 'The Cave', but I think less top 75 and definitely less top 40). I prefer 'The Cave' but they're both brilliant songs, their three big hits are probably their 3 best. 'Winter Winds' is not as great but I do love most of their other flop singles.

Where did Calvin Harris - Feel So Close peak on iTunes? i heard this song at the end of Brazil vs Spain Confederations Cup Final and it came back fresh in my mind.

I'm fairly sure it reached #2

Don't forget that the current Saturdays' position is actually #12 because of multiply Daft Punk versions.

I seem to remember it reaching Number 1 on release day, but got overtaken by Olly Murs HSAB. Reached number 2 in the singles chart though. One of the best & most underrated singles from 18 months!

Avicii should have the release date moved forward - the hype is clearly there with pre-orders and if the label had any sense they'd want to stop its sales being diluted by the cover version already in the itunes top 40
John Newman seems to be gaining a bit of a lead, I think Icona Pop and Robin Thicke are going to be pretty close in sales next week, pretty much going head to head with each other, the gap is not that big between them. I don't think Robin Thicke will do sales over 100k this week, probably be pretty close to it though, something silly like 98k, with Icona Pop around 105k to 110k.

Selena Gomez might do a Selena Gomez but not have as big a hit as Selena? Sounds legit.

For me it's the best thing he's ever done, nothing else from this era comes remotely close.
